Meh, nice or douchebag doesn't really matter. Qui-Gon Glenn is right. The stomping will continue until morale improves. As long as things stay within our forum rules, there's plenty of room for different perspectives. Yes! (Reads thread further and sees a response to a deleted post...) Meh. ... On-topic: The thread title indicates that people were well-sold on the concept, the marketing worked, and people bought the game at a higher rate than normal for BioWare material. This is unsurprising to any old BioWare fan - this game is not a niche RPG, like, ya know, the games most of us joined the old forums for. It is not made for us, it is not made for a niche crowd, it is made for mass market consumption with the broadest appeal possible and I daresay trying to please the lowest common denominator as much as possible. That this is celebrated is just, well, all too familiar. It is like the Council staring Shepard in the face and denying the Reapers. Ignorance is bliss - or it's willful and then it's trolling.

Its great that the game is selling like hotcakes, but Best Buy is giving away a free Anthem steelbook (which though empty is $10) with physical versions of the game bought. Think it was originally given away for free for pre-orders.

Exactly what sort of reaction would meet with your approval? Utter indifference probably isn't an option on an Anthem forum.

Realism. But, this is BioWare and their fandom we're talking about - loons, everyone of us, you included. (gotta love the meme artist's inability to use your/you're correctly in a box ripping on another's intelligence lol)

Lol bias detector exploding in this thread. Let us talk SofaJockey . Your forum is boring enough as it is without you stomping every thread that annoys you. Play Anthem more, please. How is this bias? It became pointless with endless bickering just because a mod decides to anchor doesn't mean they're biased.

I guess "realism" was supposed to mean something there, huh? This is one of those time where I don't know enough about the point to know if we're disagreeing or not.

GlenN7 is still angry about the mods following forum rules and keep posting this kinda of nonsense, maybe in hopes of derailing threads or maybe as a vain attempt of rebellion against said mods.
Better to go back to the matter of this thread instead of helping him doing that.

Better to go back to the matter of this thread instead of helping him doing that. Your post is an example ignoring forum rules, posting nonsense, in a vain attempt at derailing the thread, completely focused on me and not the topic at hand. Hope it felt good though! The topic is a factual number. Reasons for why that number is what it is, and if it means good things for BioWare and their fandom, are worthy of debate and that's what I'm engaging in. It is good for EA in the short term, and possibly BioWare.

Big difference... Let's move away from the bickering please, but I have to say I agree with the notion that someone who plays the game and makes an informed view that they don't like it has a much more credible stance than someone who hasn't played it but likes 'the idea'. The converse is also true.

How much of the game do you have to play to have a valid opinion? Good question. Depends on the PoV and personal bias of the reader, IMO. I would say zero. My opinion on MEA didn't change after playing it; if anything it got worse.

DA:I was a very average game. It had really clunky gameplay, loads of MMO quality quests and (IMO) very repetitive and underwhelming combat. It has pretty good lore, characters and dialogue, so it's still worth playing, but it's nowhere near TW3's quality. Also, bugs don't really matter that much in an RPG, even if they might be annoying. No amount of bugfixes would make MEA a good Mass Effect game. I just want to remind people that when DAI launched, there was a 60% the game would freeze or crash right on the startup screen on PCs. MEA had (might still have) hilariously long load times to start. So, yeah, bugs not quite so bad in Anthem.

How much of the game do you have to play to have a valid opinion? Well, according to certain people during the MEA release? All of it, anything less and your opinion is not informed enough.

Sort of interesting that Anthem made more in revenue from digital on console than Apex legends did in total across all platforms.

I think it's safe to say that the discussion ran its course, and did so a while ago. The gist of it: despite worries and naysaying, Anthem appears to have made a decent chunk of money, it does have its playerbase and all things on heaven and earth suggest that the game is here to stay. There's not much else to add here, at least ATM.

How much of the game do you have to play to have a valid opinion? It is an interesting question and one I think is nuanced. I think you can have a 'valid' opinion because you have read a consensus or arrived at a view through videos, or articles. The opinion could be valid by virtue of being a personal preference about something where your preference is yours to have. But knowledge gained by actually playng the thing lends credibility to the opinion. It's going to take more work, argument or citations (though it is certainly possible) to defend a valid point without actual experience, I would have thought.

(that doesn't mean I reject the possibility, but this is no evidence at all) descartes said it best. 1+1=2 for me and for God alike, what he did was nothing but offer numbers and compare them the relevant data from other launches and EA's own statements all of which are public knowledge.

Perhaps you have forgotten (which if it didn't effect you, is quite reasonable), but DAI in the beginning was noteworthy for its CTD.
I never got into DAIMP, because for the first two months after game release, the game (on PC) was too unstable to go into MP. I almost gave up on the SP game. Game crashes in cut scenes and transitions were constant and predictable.
Eventually, BioWare and AMD figured out what the issues were and issued driver updates and game patches that stabilized the game. By then, my interest in MP had gone away. I expected it to be more like ME3MP … it wasn't.

So, one takeaway.
Anthem needs mtx revenue to generate live service content. One can easily extrapolate the various scenarios. However, with an insufficient player base the mtx revenue is simply not there to support new content.

that and, like many other games this generation in recent memory. Tho it sold apparently well it sold way below expectations according to EA's metrics
