And in reply from Bioware to your comment. We don't care about your two words, we're doing what we want to do. If you don't like it, not our problem.

Well, they contribute nothing meaningful to the plot as set up in ME1 (stop the Reapers) and poke holes into it instead, all the while undermining roleplay They also have no redeemable qualities whatsoever. Their motivations switches around between "We are racist! Why? Because we are!", "Let's kill as many of our own scientists as possible!" and "Let's kill cvilians, TROLOLOL!". They can pull anything out of their ass as the plot demands and have a bad case of Mary Sue/"The writer favours us". In contrast to that, Liara's just a single individual with obsession issues, and very few ways to ass-pull fleets. And for the record, I don't like her ME2/ME3 characterisation too much. Yet another sawggering hardass. Not very interesting, ME2 has enough of that already. I prefer her socially inept, nerdy ME version.
Anyway, I just cannot imagine what people might genuinely like about Cerberus.

Yeah, I loved her ME1 version so was very disappointed they changed her in ME2/ME3.

I can say the same for the characters in MEA. I wasn't invested in them. Well I was. Hence why I want a sequel. I do too. Although there is a HUGE difference between ryder dying via tweet or something like and them killing emily wong via tweet. We only talk to emily wong in ME1 for three side missions that are SMALL. In ME2 we get an email from her if we met her and did her mission and we see her on the news thing. Ryder on the other hand was a protaganist for a whole game. Emily wong should have died in game at least in a news thing or something but it isn't a massive deal. Ryder on the other hand dying via twitter and getting no other mention would be a huge FU to the fans. So it's not an equal comparison.
I know you weren't saying that it was.

Just as dumb to kill off Wong via twitter, right? Or space Shepard at the very beginning of the second game of a trilogy...

I found her annoying in ME1. And for me, it didn't make sense for her to be a squadmate. I would rather have Shiala as the asari squadmate. In ME2, things got whatever . The broker dlc is crap. Below is what I thought about it taken from this thread. When Shepard asks her why she gave her/his body to Cerberus, the asari will say, "was I suppose to let my friend die...". Hold up. Where's this friend stuff coming from? When Shepard tells her that he/she would throw her back in the volcano, I doubt Shepard wants to be friends. Mine didn't. The other thing is if someone told me they would throw me back in a volcano, I wouldn't call that person a friend. As far as the dying thing. Shepard is already dead. So what is she talking about? After getting to her apartment, Shepard's armor is seen in a glass case on display like its a trophy. Then Shepard's DNA is all over the apartment. Had Shepard never been brought back, what exactly would she have done with the DNA? She has serious mental problems. During the car chase, she whine like a little baby. So much for that so-called ruthless crap. That's because there's nothing ruthless at all. Why was this character a squadmate? I will say Vasir I liked. Too bad couldn't have her and kill the t'soni. After fighting Vasir, there is 3 paragon interrupts. Why couldn't there be 3 renegade interrupts? renegade interrupt #1 Shepard: Before anything else happens, how about answering a couple of questions? Did you tell anyone or at least make any effort to tell anyone Cerberus had my body? Liara: I...I....don't know.........
renegade interrupt #2 Shepard: Why do you have my armor in your apartment on display like its some kind of prize? Liara: That's.....I.......I....
renegade interrupt #3 Shepard: If you can't answer my questions, I'm leaving. Liara: Shepard....I...can't... Shepard: That's what I thought. You're suffering from cat-got-your-tongue syndrome. While you go see a doctor about that, I will be heading back to my ship. One last thing. I don't ever want to see you again. Understand?
If Shepard is romancing Liara, he/she ends the relationship right there. In ME3, what could happen is Liara doesn't show up after the first two dreams and there is no scene about the time capsule. She also doesn't offer the gift at the FOB. The same could happen for a Shepard that didn't romance her. After the broker throws his desk, Shepard believes its mre important to keep the asari safe. Why? What if Shepard has a LI? Is the asari more important? I guess so going by the scene. I know if I was Thane, Garrus, Miranda, Jack, Jacob, Tali, I would end the relationship right away since Shepard cares more abut the asari. It could have an effect in ME3 where Shepard encounters them with them having a different tone of voice. After the broker is defeated, the asari cries like a baby. Why didn't she cry after all the others that were killed? Nothing ruthless about the character at all. Then she says she can finally help you stop the reapers. What? There was nothing stopping her in the first place. That's right. She was obsessed with finding Feron. Really? A lot of good that's going to do when the reapers show up Once on the Normandy, she hands Shepard's dogtags. I won't get into details about that, but here's what I posted about that in another thread She mentions that it her birthday soon. Shepard says he/she will get her something. Liara will say, "You're alive again. I got everything I want." What? Javik? I need you in my cabin to throw someone out the airlock Just before leaving, Shepard has a what-the-crap hug. Why wasn't there an option to hug her or not ? The player got that option after the broker was killed. Overall the dlc is crap. Apparently Bioware wanted the alien to be more important then anyone, including Shepard's mother. The other thing is that Shepard isn't able to ask questions. I would be curious why Bioware didn't allow Shepard to ask questions? Is it because they didn't want to cause any friction between the alien and Shepard? In ME3, she is in scenes that don't make sense for her to be in. And then on Sur'Kesh, Shepard stands up for her. Here is what was said If Wrex is dead and Shepard chooses to talk with Wreav right after landing on Sur'Kesh this line of dialogue will be heard and Liara isn't taken on the mission Shepard: Are you ready to fight the reapers? Wreav: That's like asking an Asari if they're ready to mate. Shepard: On Liara's behalf consider me officially offended. Why is Shepard saying that especially a renegade one and one who wanted to throw her in the volcano in ME1? My Shepard wanted to laugh at his comment and agree with it, but noooo, she/he has to say that line. The above dialogue is posted in the things that don't make sense thread. sH0tgUn jUliA originally posted that in the thread on the old forum. She's a big Liara fan. Unfortunately she's not a member on this forum. Anyways. She couldn't understand why Shepard would say that. She chalked it up to BWT, bad writing theory. I would be curious what answer Bioware would give as to why Shepard would say that. There are things in ME3, one's that I mentioned a short time ago about her in ME3. Even though I have no use for her, I would still have her in ME4. Just reduce the amount of content she gets.
Cerberus is great. At least in ME2. Without them, Shepard would still be dead. Without them, the reapers would have harvested the galaxy. Without them, there would be no SR2. Unfortunately they turned into the keystone cops in ME3.

And maybe he won't. Bioware might kill him off in the first 5 minutes of the next game and never bring him back. Might also do that with his entire team. Ryder might never even show up at all. What if it is an all new character that you might like even less? Or the audience will like even less? There's no guarantee. I wouldn't waste the resources to have that happen. I would give Ryder and the others the Emily Wong treatment, killed via twitter. What would the explanation be? Simple. While exploring an area in the cluster, the tempest comes under attack from the kett. The tempest takes damage causing it not to be able to get away. Ryder says abandon ship. As careless and stupid as the stowaway is, she hits the button to release the escape pod except no one is in it. Moments later, the ship is destroyed with all onboard killed. That'd be hilarious. Best chuckle I got all week.

The asari have male voices. The rest is golden. Regarding Cerberus I liked them in ME2 but it was no surprise that they were bad guys in ME3. TIM obviously wants control over Reaper tech.

Do you have an explanation as to why Shepard couldn't ask her questions about the armor, dna all over the apartment and why she didn't inform anyone Shepard's body was in the hands of Cerberus? You love to exaggerate things. There was no DNA "all over her apartment." She coded the one picture to Shepard's DNA as an intentional message to him/her. The DNA was probably obtained from the one piece of Shepard's armor she had, which was probably kept back before turning the body over to Cerberus. Your old pal Conrad idolized Shepard so much, he set up a shrine after only meeting him/her briefly 3 times on the Citadel. Yet, you love him and dump all this hate on Liara. Liara, conversely, served as a squad mate in ME1, so she kept a memento as a remembrance of her old Commander. She's no more a wierdo about it than Conrad is about being a "fan" of Shepard. I wouldn't put it past him to have also had a chunk of Shepard's armor hidden away someplace... and probably still had the shirt he was wearing when Shepard allegedly held a gun on him in ME1... unwashed to preserve the DNA that might have transferred.

Anyway, I just cannot imagine what people might genuinely like about Cerberus.
Bioware needed to pick a lane with them. Are they Space Nazis? Incompetent Vigilantes, or the Wannabe Sith?

The DNA was probably obtained from the one piece of Shepard's armor she had, which was probably kept back before turning the body over to Cerberus. Your old pal Conrad idolized Shepard so much, he set up a shrine after only meeting him/her briefly 3 times on the Citadel. Yet, you love him and dump all this hate on Liara. Liara, conversely, served as a squad mate in ME1, so she kept a memento as a remembrance of her old Commander. She no more a wierdo about it than Conrad is about being a "fan" of Shepard. I wouldn't put it past him to have also had a chunk of Shpeard's armor hidden away someplace... and probably still had the shirt he was wearing when Shepard allegedly held a gun on him in ME1... unwashed to preserve the DNA that might have transferred. It’s just a poster with a few candles. It’s very tasteful.

It’s just a poster with a few candles. It’s very tasteful. Can I mod it to have a poster of Harambe, instead? Dicks out

Yeah, right, and his wife loved it so much she gave him the credits to get a ticket to get off-world and to get a duplicate of Shepard's armor.
Hey, I like Conrad... and I also like Liara. I don't see that much of a difference in how the characters are set up to have idolized Shepard if you don't romance Liara. If you do, then all the idolizing is perfectly explainable. So, Liara can be two different characters in the game: a romance partner who genuinely loves Shepard or a "fan" with a stalkerish side who Shepard has a soft enough spot for that he/she just doesn't push her out of his/her life. The player actually is the one who chooses which way they want her character to be developed. They aren't forced to romance her. If they choose not too, they are compelled for the sake of the story's progression to "tolerate" her. She plays a more major role in the story than Conrad, so there's more scenes she shows up in.
If we're going to go on about choices we can't make in the games - Why can't I shoot Conrad in the head in ME2 instead of just the foot. (He's trying to defraud an owner out of their business and doing so would save some lives in ME3 since he's the decoy that allows Cerberus to sabotage the medi-gel dispensers.) Why can't I just shoot him as a confessed Cerberus agent in ME3, but noooo.... I have to work with him first in order to see Cerberus shoot him later... and even then, if I happened to help Jenna in a totally unrelated quest, he doesn't even get shot then.

I on the other hand love her an LOTSB is amazing. Do you have an explanation as to why Shepard couldn't ask her questions about the armor, dna all over the apartment and why she didn't inform anyone Shepard's body was in the hands of Cerberus? It was one photo not "all over" the apartment. As to Sheps body that's easy. She was in effect dealing with terrorists so that's why.
