Mus tadmi tI've been thinking about the Dragon Age mages and wha thouses they'd be sorted into. For example I think Wynne would have made a good Ravenclaw. I thin k Solas Morrigan and Flemeth would have mad eexcellent Slytherins give nal 3 characters have a bit of a dark side t othem. I think Dorian woul dhav emade a good Huifflepuff. Part of me thinks Anders would have been Slytherin but also part of me thinks he'd hav been a good Griffindor. Mostly because whilst he didn't us eblood magic that we saw which is equivalentt odark magic in Hogwarts he also had a tendency to flout the other rules. I think Bethany and Merril would have been Hufflepuffs as well. Dorian is tough. He's cunning and extremely ambitious, wanting to revive Tevinter. He's brave, too, coming south on his own and going out of his way to do the right thing. And he's very clever. He does seem to really enjoy being clever and developing his magic, so I'd lean toward Ravenclaw for him. But it's not clear cut. He could also be Slytherin, imo. The rest of the list I can agree with. I'd put Cassandra in Gryffindor, definitely. Sera, too. Vivienne in Slytherin. Bull.. I mean he *is* clever, but I dunno if I'd say he values being clever the most. Maybe Hufflepuff, with his focus on the Chargers and just how much of a people person he is. Cole in Hufflepuff for the same reasoning. I'd put Ranier in Hufflepuff, as well. Not b/c he's a people person (the loyalty part), but cus I think he pretty clearly values being just at this point. Slytherin if we're talking personality before Inquisition, though. Varric, I'm a bit torn on. He clearly values being good in other people and himself, regardless of what he admits to. lol He sticks to self-deprecation, but he's also braver than he acknowledges. And of course he has cunning in spades, so Slytherin is an option. Ultimately its a toss up between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff to me for him. I'd half want to stick him in Gryffindor to torment Cassandra 24/7, but I think I'd put him in Hufflepuff ultimately. Being good is something he values in others and himself. Also: people person. Inquisition Leliana, Ravenclaw. Josephine also Ravenclaw. Cullen Gryffindor. My baby brother, Carver, also Gryffindor. Yeah I was refferin mostly erferring to the mages really not all the character as people lik Casandra and Bull aren' tmages which wa swhy I neve rmentioned them. But yea hI don't think an yof them aer clea rcut it's jus thow I would eradthem and wha twe kno wabou tthose characters. Th eonl one's I'd asy ae rclea rcut are mostl yth eSlytherin ones Solas Flemeth an d |Morrigan given they try t oshap ethings the way they want them.

Oh. Ha I didn't even notice you were only talking about mages. XD My brain skipped right over that and put "Dragon Age companions" there.

Merrill is Slytherin in my book - her dabbling with bloodmagic and practically gaslighting you about the dangers for a long time (as Hawke). Don't let her sweet demeanor fool you - there is a lot of cunning underneath.
As sad as I am, because I don't want him in my house, I think Solas would fit into Ravenclaw too - let's say he is a Slytherclaw. But we happily take Wynne in our mid. Dorian is a Ravenpuff - he loves knowledge, but is very loyal to his friends. Anders is an odd case, but probably Slytherin more than anything else.
My mage Hawke is definitively a Hufflepuff - friends first, then the rest. My mage inquisitor and my mage warden are both Ravenclaw.
I want to sort my Baldurs Gate 3 magical characters (bards, sorcerers, warlocks and mages) too, but that would be a long list

Is any of you into fanfilms?
I watched a few Harry Potter fanfilms in the last days and there are some really decent ones:
Severus Snape and the Marauders - there the actors are really good, I especially liked teh guy, playing Peter, he was so spot on. The premise is a bit wonky, but I guess it can be explained with alcohol and fear, especially James actions. All in all a good one:
Neville Longbottom and the Black WItch - taht one is my favorite so far - really well written and great actors. Everything makes totally sense lorewise
The Sisters of House Black - that one is a mixed bag. While it explains, how Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa became what they were later in the Harry Potter books, tehy way it is told is sometimes confusing and the camera is a bit wonky. The three actresses are good though and it also fits canon mostly.
I also watched a Voldemort film, but that was utter rubbish, bad acting and the story didn't make that much sense. The twist in teh end was ok, but not all that surprising.

Or Indiana Jones. Its got a very John Williams quality to it (on purpose, I'm sure). I love it.

I've finished the game. I ended up only going as far as the Map Chamber as a Slytherin and a Gryffindor, but I have two full playthroughs, one of which is a true 100% (my Ravenclaw). I have every achievement now, and have seen what I believe is the vast majority of what the game has to offer. It's a beautiful piece of art, and I love it beyond measure. I have a few pictures (well, more like exactly 200) provided they embed properly. I'll share some. This is Sarah Fisher, of the great Ravenclaw house! She, to me, is the actual hero of the game. Not much in terms of backstory, I'm afraid. And this is Catherine Black, of Hufflepuff house. And yes, of the Black family. They thought she was a squib, and I'm sure the scar is no longer quite far fetched. The Headmaster didn't seem to take to his niece very well, and if I were to say, her predicament wouldn't be dissimilar to that of one Sirius Black. Except the whole murdered best friend part. More pictures in spoilers. Beautiful game. Only a few, but they are all excellent - despite not even being on Ultra! Oh, and... there may be some actual spoilers from very near the end of the game within, as well!
I love this one. You know who this is, by the scarf. In front of Ollivanders. Raise your chalice, for Hogwarts are safe! I'd get out the way here. Seriously. First glance through the entrance A mirror of this picture for the other of my protagonists. Absolutely stunning visuals... As you can tell, I was not kidding, and I love the House scarves. I hope they'll make them... I want them... Maybe all four houses, even... Now my plans are to simply finish the seventh book's epilogue (yup, "Nineteen years later") and have one last walk around Hogwarts. And then uninstall until I'm ready for another playthrough. P.S.: Ravenclaw and Gryffindor common rooms rule. Hufflepuff is very nice, and Slytherin is just kind of last.

Yeah not sure I'l lb removing i tye tas I do want to d oanother playthrough and I can see it becoming one of my comfort games and if it does earn a spot among them then it may remain on my system a while. I certainly know I won' tb eremoving it a tleas tuntil I've done at least one playthrough in each of the houses though. I know the main story is the same regardless of what hous you're in but I do know there is some side content that is changed depending on your house and character. But I must admit I do enjo ythe game's magical combat a heck of a lot as i tfeels like a mix of DAi and MEA in that you use your abilties on the fl ybut the ykin dof autotarget as well whic hmakes it easie rt oplay for me. I'm already looking forward to my Hufflepuff run. Already feeling a little bit of an urge to pla yagain but holding off for now as I wantto finish a couple of other games off firs tand do anothe rrun o fMidnight Suns in orde rto pla ythe DLC

I got the game at early access but only have 10+ hours played... because it's insanely boring. I can only play a mission or two before getting bored. Not sure what it is about it maybe how bland the story and quests are or how Hogwarts and other characters just don't feel real since you can't interact with anything. HL feels like a game for casuals.
Too bad cause I had been waiting for this game since the first leak years ago.

HL feels like a game for casuals. Too bad cause I had been waiting for this game since the first leak years ago. I agree there does feel like a lack of interactivity with the NPCs outside of quests. Like, its light on the simulation(???) kind of aspect that say a Bioware game has, allowing you to talk to the named npcs when you want and having a lot of dialogue to discuss. However, just fyi, you DO get to have convos with the teachers more. The conversations are just gated behind completion of "assignment" quests. And they don't have any UI indicators on the map or anything to let you know when someone has dialogue for you, you just have to be in visual range and notice the little white dot above their head. Also, I think the game would benefit from the ability to sit on things and watch the world go by. And the world actually changing with day/night cycles. Skyrim, this game is not. Nor is it DAI, or Persona. The school life/life simulation aspect of the game is very very limited, if you were expecting that. And I don't half blame people for wanting that cus what's a hogwarts game where you make your own student without the actual student life aspect of it? That said, it still might be worth trying harder to get into it b/c it does ultimately have a decent story to it and several of the characters might grab you. I dunno what is meant by "for casuals", but the game does have some depths to it. But most of the depth is in exploration and in messing around with combat spells, which of course gets more fun the more spells you unlock, which takes time. I do hope they take feedback for the inevitable sequel and that the narrative/interactive aspect of the game expands as a result.

By casuals I meant that if you have not played many video games and are just a Potter fan then this game is probably great. But for me I just get bored with the lazy puzzles, unrewarding dungeons and endless collectible quests and frustrated by how little interaction you can have with the world and other characters. It's really shallow game imo. I would've preferred something more narrative driven and deep. And as you mentioned I thought it would be more about the Hogwarts student experience instead of just being an open world game.

I'm guessing everyone's already noticed how Ernie's repertoire of instruments keeps growing with every tip?
And some news to keep you up to date:

I loved grabbing the Daily Prophet for a quick read. I now know how to breed baslisks. Beware the coop that croaks.

Given my Sabrina's now got the seeds and pots to grow them in the enemies going to need t obe extra vigilant for Mandrakes, Chomping canbbages and Venomous Tentaculas popping up to help her. Professor Garlick taught her fellow Hufflepuff well.

Do you find mandrakes useful? I felt like their range being so immediate and their effect being so short lived really made them pointless to use. Tho to be fair I didn’t bother investing in their perk cus I disliked them.

The stun however is usually long enough t ogive me a chanc eto get a few shots and spells in befoer the ystart attackin gme. So I find them useful in that sense I think it depends on how you play though

I like them, because they stun your enemies, which gives the tentaculas and cabbages time to finish them off

Mandrakes, when upgraded, are up there with the Cabbages. Chomp chomp!
