If you hadn't bought the mags already, I'd say go with the shotgun. But since you already got the mags, my thought process is get the glock. But I thought you were allowed to have up to 5 semi-autos before you had to apply for a second license? So why not get both? And why not get a Ferrari and a golden watch while am at it? Because blasted MONEY. The mags I bought because a law has been passed that limits new magazines to 10 rounds, just like in Canada and California. The law will go into effect shortly, but right now I can still get big mags so I bought some. I WILL get the Glock and the stock eventually, I'm just not sure what to get first. Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. For me, I would go with the semi I didn't own. Putting myself in your shoes, I have shotguns already, but I don't have a 9mm pistol yet. So that's where I'd go.
Also, there's a few other places where that mag limit is in effect. I know the entire state of NY has that, and I know that Denver City has that limit too. Though Denver says small caliber rim fired cartridges (bascially .22) can have a 30 round limit. I thought about moving there, and did some research. Saw those limits, and said 'nope'.

Yeah, I get what you mean. And I have just made the decision to go with a Glock 17 plus the Roni stock, as I can do much more training with it being 9x19, 12 Gauge is like 5 times more expensive per round, and I am limited to shooting slugs since the range I shoot at does not allow buckshot. And having 5x 33 round mags already is a nice bonus. BTW; you can easily dodge the 10 round mag limit by buying a winchester 92 lever action rifle, they hold 15+1 rounds of 357mag and since its a tubular magazine its not affected by that dumb law. And you can shoot a lever action rifle as fast as you can a semi, if we talk about aimed shots. A winchester in .357 is a very good rifle overall. You can also get a M1 Garand, it has an 8 round en-bloc clip but it is so phenomenally fast to reload that it does not really matter.

But needing 7 non-blood relatives to vouch for your mental stability, plus family, just to own a pistol is a real damper on things. Plus SBR's are an NFA time, which are 100% banned here in NYS.
And Oh yea, I know about those limits. But I think an M1 is a bit out of my range. Weight of the rifle, expense of the cartridge, difficulty of loading the clip (its actually a clip, not a mag) A lever action might be a bit better for me, I'd have to look around and see what my local dealers had for sale.

Get the Rossi 92 in .357. I had one in 44mag and its an excellent rifle, personally I would go with the longer rifle version instead of the carbine, it holds 4 more rounds and its much more stable during the shot due to the heavier barrel. I think they run for 450-550 bucks. Hickok fires a 92 carbine version:

I wouldn't mind having a .357 lever gun and if i can get one for that price, it'd be hard to resist the urge. Although, getting one in .44 mag is also very tempting. In either case, like the revolvers chambered in them, they can fire .38spc and .44spc respectively, which is a nice bonus.
In other news, Gun Jesus and Karl test regular 7.62x54R ammo and WW2 spec armor-piercing incendiary rounds (which was used for anti-aircraft purposes, with tail gun MGs) against modern ballistic plates rated against rifle rounds.
7.62x54mmR is one the oldest military service rounds still in service and has been used from Mosin-Nagant rifles, DP machine guns, the Dragunov and the PK/M machine gun to name but a few things.

Oh, so quick black powder update. Turns out, its 100% legal to own a black powder pistol in NY. But owning the parts to make it shoot (powder, caps, wads, balls, ect) requires a pistol license. And its 100% illegal to convert a black powder pistol to a rim/center fire pistol w/out a pistol permit.
Soooo, I'm not going to be getting that in the near future. *sigh*

I just passed the psychological screening for my gun license with flying colors! Apparently I am not a mad villain trying to destroy the world with blood and fire or something. And I did answer every single question with utmost honesty. Was weird, there was no torture, they did not put me under drugs to question me, no lie detectors, not even waterboarding or getting buried alive. I expected more action for that amount of money. Oh well. 6/10.

How long till you get your license to own? And can I ask how much it cost?

Congrats! You've fooled the state into thinking your not a raging psychopath. How long till you get your license to own? And can I ask how much it cost? Its hard to predict since the government....lacks the proper motivation to do those things quickly and efficiently (like most other things, lol), it could take anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months. Only thing left do do is a firearms safety course, which my local firearms dealer provides every 2 weeks. Its a beginners course teaching firearms safety rules for total nubs and first-timers, I think I won't even have to wake up to pass it. Its more of a formality, especially for me having 12 years of competition shooting under my belt but whatever, its a requirement. Once I have that I have to go gather all those fancy papers and throw it into the face of some bored and/or sleeping government official along with some cash and wait. Oh and I need to do a pass photo, which I loathe. I look like trash on those pics and it ruins my day. Psychological screening cost me *gasp* 280 bucks! Firearm safety course will cost me about 35-50 bucks I think, and the actual license will cost me another 73 bucks. (Euros and Dollars are nearly the same now) But I only have to do and pay all this shit once, after that its all milk and honey WHEEEEEE!

Just got my Roni chassis. I hope I get my license quick, can't wait to stuff a Glock 17 in there. First impression of the stock is really good, it IS made of plastic but its that really damn tough plastic just like the Glock frame. The folding stock is sturdy and awesome. Also the dimensions are excellent, it points very naturally and the length of pull is just perfect. Also I got a quick detachable sling and installed my one-point sling. As for optics I'm gonna go either with a Holosun red dot or a Burris fast fire II reflex sight. Still not sure which one to get. I have always liked the PDW and SMG style weapons best, and this system comes really close to it.

I found this on imgur the other day, forgot to post it here:
Also, thats not bad all in all. Once you throw it at the offical, do they give you an ETA?

ooooo, nice! I thought you were going to go with green though? Really, why? I no likey baby puke colors! I like my guns like I like my women, hot, loud and black! Sadly no, thats when the processing phase starts which means background checks and all that, that can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. The upside is, I only have to do all that ONCE. Also thanks for the link to the sight, but there is two reasons why I want either the Holo or the Burris: they have a battery life of 6 years and they customer Service is EXCELLENT. Nearly every friend of mine has a Holosun on one of his guns and they are all super happy. I just cannot decide if I should go with a reflex sight rather than a dot.

I just bought 5 pcs 33 rounder 9mm Glock magazines for my future project. I'm going to get me a license for a Glock 17 in 9mm which I'm gonna throw into a Micro Roni chassis. (Note: We do not have SBR rules here in Austria, you can throw whatever you want onto your pistols. ) Its gonna look like exactly this, though I think I'll go with an olive color stock.

I take it you'll practice/fire the G17 without the chassis as well beet? Of course I will, it irks me that I'm a very good rifleman who is merely an ''acceptable'' pistol shooter. I like to be good at everything. But still, it will spend the majority of the time in the chassis I think, I just like it too damn much already. Its like a pistol and a rifle had sex and the love child got the best of both worlds.

Cause the space between the Pistols barrel, and the chasis's muzzle is empty. Since longer barrel = better accuracy (in very simple terms), put a longer barrel on it. Or at least that's what I'd do.
Still a sexy looking chasis.

I'm sorry to derail the thread, but I just found out that there might be a freefloat barrel modification for my Ruger PC9. This is what it looks like now: Pretty Nifty I think. But midwest industries makes a handgaurd that turns it into this: Tell me that doesn't just look sexier. I've sent them an email, asking if that handgaurd is compatible with the original standard barrel/foregrip attachment. Cause if it is, I might want to get that in the near future.

I like thew PC9, its similar to the pistol caliber carbine I'm building right now. Though to be honest, I like the original handguard better, its less cluttered and looks more ergonomic. But whatever floats your boat! I finally got around to order a red dot, I chose the Holosun HS406C, its a slightly more rugged but also slightly bigger Holosun, also 50k hours battery life but it also has a solar panel on top if it runs out of power. It has slightly bigger lenses which means a bigger field of view for faster target acquisition. Cost me 280 bucks but thats ok. And the battery compartment is on the side, switching batteries does not require to unmount the dot.
