Still, a larger cross sectional area of the caliber soaks up more energy from limited gas pressure and a short barrel, and a heavier bullet retains more energy downrange. Thus, when the army adopts a new cartridge, it's likely to be something 6.5'ish. That's not happening though, the 6.8SPC bullet may be bigger in diameter but it is competitively short and light. In fact, if you run the numbers the 6.8SPC is BARELY more powerful than the 62-69 grain 556 loads at the muzzle but its is quickly overtaken by the 556. So it boggles my mind why anyone would go with a 6.8SPC over 556 thing is the caseless and polymer case weapons before all had the same problem 2 mags on full auto = exploding breach = dead operator.... there superb weapons for single shot action on a range but totally useless for high rate of fire or sustained fire (4 + mags) at the rate of 1 round every 10 seconds (like in a fire fight) making them basically pointless and yes its all about heat dissipation, something that would only be 10 times worse when your working with high pressure ammo.... changing calibres I can actually understand although honestly i'm surprised there not investigating a smaller calibre round, honestly a .177 stuck on the top of a necked down 556 case would work way better for military purposes than the 556 (which is basically a .22 round) the problem would be round design change (needs to be slightly longer and not coper jacketed, maybe titanium dart...) as for actual flechett iirc they were ruled as not suitable for military purposes under the Geneva convention something about them being either lethal or the wounds being too minor to effect the enemy combatant thus making them unreliable....

as for actual flechett iirc they were ruled as not suitable for military purposes under the Geneva convention something about them being either lethal or the wounds being too minor to effect the enemy combatant thus making them unreliable.... Nope, flechettes work very well. One might think they make only tiny wounds since they have super small diameters but in reality they make large wounds since they tend to bend to a U shape or tumble when they hit soft tissue - and with their length and velocities up to 5000 feet per second that's really nasty. Tanks are already using sabot rounds which are basically tungsten flechette rounds, the idea of a flechette rifle is basically simply scaling down a tank gun. As far as I know the only problem with those rounds was production, keeping the tolerances small enough and using the right polymers seemed to be a problem in the early 90's, but I bet that could be easily fixed today. In my opinion the current arsenal should not be changed till we have fully developed guided bullets for precision rifles, flechette ammunition for the general issue rifle and railguns for the big weapons platforms. Anything else is just a waste of tax payers money for maybe like 1% increase in firepower, at best.

Found a Norwegian gun channel. Pretty neat too. Captured WW2 pistols, and a Norwegian service revolver.

Anything else is just a waste of tax payers money for maybe like 1% increase in firepower, at best. well until the geniuses figure out that the railgun rounds need a ferrous core but a ceramic or polymer non conductive outer (that also acts as a heat accumulator), that the rounds themselves require kinetic inertia before rail initiation (to improve firing rate and reduce initiation current) its highly unlikely they will be able to scale down the rail guns sufficiently to make that move... I mean really they could become manpack weapon systems even if you would need a generator system to recharge the batteries rather often, of course ground troops wouldn't be able ot carry much else due to the weight, but then again troopers that shoot what amounts to plasma charges at hard targets you wont really need much else lol

Ian and Karl face off 7.62x51 and 7.62x39 in various barrel lengths to compare velocities and see how much they lose by going to shorter barrels.

I was finally able to order a second mag for my Beretta 81 from BerettaUSA's site bay-bee! I'll purchase another 100 rounds of .32 auto fun when I get it. Here's some shots i took showing the minor differences between the original magazine(right) and the newer production one(left) that i received in the mail: The most noticeable difference is how the newer one has a matte finish and the older one has a glossy type to it, followed by how the newer one has writing on the left side of it: The bottom of the newer mag's baseplate also has writing that the older one doesn't: The top of the front tip of the baseplates are different too: Naturally, I'm using the newer one as my main mag now, with the old one as a backup. Oh and I just ordered some rosewood grips with beretta medallions and will post them when i get and install them.

Say hello to my not so little friend! Its my belated birthday present to myself. SDM 7.62x39 AKM-S Nice rifle! Do you plan on making any modifications to it? Like a folding stock, stock, etc? In other news, I'm supporting Slavic ammunition producing companies by buying 100 rounds of 9mm luger by Selliot and Belot in Czechia and 100 rounds of .32 auto by Prvi Partizan in Serbia. They helped a brotha out by having the cheapest ammo available in the lists i was shopping on.

Nice rifle! Do you plan on making any modifications to it? Like a folding stock, stock, etc? Yes, I will swap the grip with a more ergonomic one with finger grooves (This one is way too small for my big hands, its like holding a small broom), I will use a side mount for my Holosun aimpoint and I am gonna install a muzzlebrake (mine didn't come with one). I don't think I'll swap the handguard or buttstock since the wood is really nice. I am using S&B and PRVI ammunition all the time, its very clean ammo and its always loaded properly hot. And keep the brass, its high quality stuff should you ever get into reloading. I just bought some 7.62x39 AK S&B ammo.

Ian explains why drug mags aren't all that they're cracked up to be. on the rare occasion that you get one thats working well it only works for a few reloads before it needs taking apart and fixing, 90% of the time the problem is friction based and it doesnt seem to matter what materials are used even covering the entire internal surface with ptfe or Teflon doesnt stop them from randomly not working... honestly they look good in a couple of weapons platforms but otherwise they only ever looked and handled like trash, give me belt feed or stick mags any time, of course double stacked single feed stick mags tend to work best not to mention taking up way less room and weight for when your on the move, about the only time ive used a weapon with a drum mag and found it to be "better" was with a machine pistol and only because the weight offset the recoil massively (tuning down the rate of fire would have had the same effect though) however all the previous points about why drums are bad still applies, and honestly I would have rather had a weight on the end of the weapon to control the recoil and used stick mags for reliability reasons (fortunately it was just used on the range for a demo, not in the field where it matters)

My new AR-15. I traded it in for another gun which I was no longer interested in, its .223 with a 20'' heavy match barrel. I went along and put a Vortex 3-18x44 illuminated MOA reticle scope on it, installed canted iron sights, a UTG keymod 3-position bipod, and a homemade sling. Its gonna be my precision rifle, or more of a DMR for 300-500 meters. Things that need to be done: new slim gasblock without the front iron sight, grip with finger grooves Reticle:
