I wonder how many other people like to run this for the campaign.
Also can discuss why you do or don't and even the implementation if you would like.

I always play on normal difficulty with all the trials enabled except the trial that gives less approval from everybody. Having friendly fire enabled would add a lot of stress to the game for me because I don't have a lot of finesse when I play and I'd be hurting/killing friends while they might be doing same to me.

I don't. I wouldn't mind having it enabled - as it was in Origins and 2 by default in nightmare mode - but would require greater fine tuning ability of the companion 'automation'. Which is a roundabout way of saying BRING BACK PROPER TACTICS!!!! If you're going to use an AoE spell, you can't have warriors running in to the line of fire, or whatever.

I don't miss friendly fire in DA really, or the additional micromanagement on your part. And, as it was mentioned, the AI has to be solid for that to work. They really have to listen to you when you tell them to stay.

I don't have the patience for that level of micromanagement. My companions can't even HOLD when I tell them to, so I know I can't trust them to stay away from my ice mines or whatever. It isn't worth it to me.

Friendly Fire mostly ruined Mages for me in Origins. Even with the damage off, there was no way to prevent Friendly Fire effects, so a lot of the coolest spells were rendered super inefficient. I never saw a reason to play on the higher difficulties with it in 2, so I can't comment there, but I imagine it would've been just as bad given the number of wide-ranging magic effects that it had. Not bothered with it in Inquisition either.
I think what it comes down to is that for me, I wanna feel like I am getting the utmost level of power that I can out of each of my characters. Challenges should come from the enemies being able to compete, not from artificial limitations on myself.

The Playstation version of Diablo was my first D&D game. I played the rogue (archer) and constantly got in trouble with my gaming partner because of my friendly fire. He played a mage so yeah, he was made of tissue around me. I'd rather just play the game and not juggle that many balls in the air.

Friendly fire feels limiting, like you can't select certain abilities because of how much collateral damage they can easily do to teammates.
It is amusing to have as an option though. Makes testing equipment interesting.

In addition to the reasons others have stated, I refuse to use it specifically because it affects Chain Lightning, one of my favourite and most useful abilities. I mean, come on, you can't not hit teammates with that. Plus, you'd think these awesome mages could direct it to only hit certain targets.

I wish it would be a toggle and allow all difficulty levels to still exist with or without it. I personally don't like friendly fire from a roleplaying perspective (who says I can't direct my spells only at enemies? And are you saying my companions are to stupid to hit in an arc without chopping a friends face off?), however I DO like a high difficulty setting.
I am apparently difficult to please.

One big fat NOPE.
And not only because AI is bad. To have FF work properly, you'd need a game, like old D&D titles, where enemies use the same numbers as the party. In DA we have 800 HP party members do thousands of damage with an ability and enemies with 1,000,000,000,000 HP do minimal damage. The discrepancy in math is huge. It's absolutely silly to utterly, totally, and completely murder/incinerate/desintegrate a friend with a badly placed shot and have an enemy be little more than tickled by the same effect.

Nope. Still traumatized after watching Bethany aim a fireball right at Hawke's ass, burning her to crisps. I saw the murder in her eyes. And all the Nopes as Fenris comes running at Hawke, greatsword raised to chop her head off. Granted it comes from DA2, but the scars linger. Haven't really tried friendly fire in DAI. Might try one run with it, but as written before, I am still leery of it after DA2.
On the other hand, don't mind it at all in Origins. Probably because the enemies are decent folks and don't materialize out of thin air, except for fancy occasions. So I know when I have to pay attention and when they can do their own thing.

Looks like I am still the only yes vote, heh. That might change fairly soon. In addition to the reasons others have stated, I refuse to use it specifically because it affects Chain Lightning, one of my favourite and most useful abilities. I mean, come on, you can't not hit teammates with that. Plus, you'd think these awesome mages could direct it to only hit certain targets. Yeah Chain Lightning may be the worst implemented FF ability in the game. If only they could have let you select the area with a circle marker and had the bolts strike whatever was in it. Caltrops is another oddball, although maybe that is a nostalgic nod at DAO. When I saw my glamazon Reaver fear the entire team in Western Approach I had to scratch my head at that. Although I am not sure if that was intended. I was trying to see if Iron Bull would cause the same thing, but haven't seen it yet (although don't think I have seen it fear anybody yet).

I prefer it being a toggle like in Inquisition for there are times where I want that level of challenge, but normally I rather not have it since I just want to play the game and use every ability without having to overthink it. I know in Origins and Dragon Age 2, I made choices on difficulty levels based on if I wanted to deal with Friendly Fire or not.

I'm ok with it as long, as I can turn it on or off. I didn't like it in DAO, where it was always on. WHy bother with a fireball, when some companion is always in the way

I mean, come on, you can't not hit teammates with that. Plus, you'd think these awesome mages could direct it to only hit certain targets. Ditto! Two PTs ago, I started on Nightmare as a Dalish mage with FF on. Chain lightning is one of your early abilities but it was suicide to use it. Kept killing my own team! Virtually all the mage spells became risky because companions would run into the line of fire. And every time IB used whirlwind would kill more of the team rather than the enemy. In order to use it, I had to continuously go into tactical mode to micromanage the movements of all the team. That's not a fun way to play; I turned it off half way through the PT.

I do not, and haven't in any of the DA games. I always DAO on easy because of it, whereas I can play DA2 and DAI on higher difficulties since I have the option to turn it off.
I like combat and mowing down enemies; I think it's fun. Friendly fire adds a level of stress that I don't care to experience.
