So Barik and Verse's personal quests just kinda...ended. Do they pick up again in Act 3 or something? Yes, both story-lines will complete in Act III. The moment you start it, Barik, Verse and Lantry will have "talk to us, we have a follow up to our quests". They are a bit shorter for verse and Lantry, but fairly long for Barik. Unfortunately, that also means that cleaned up Barik is only available for like two hours of gametime tops.

I didn't get Clean!Barik the first time around because I tried to stay fairly loyal and Barik was all "honor demands I stay stuck in this thing" anyway. I'm thinking of doing it this time though but also saving Bastard's Wound until Act 3 as well so that he gets to strut his stuff a bit outside of just a couple boss fights. I'm not sure if that works, though, or if BW cuts off at Act 3 (I know Verse's personal quest for Act 2 gets cut off, I don't think Lantry's or the area for the DLC do though).

One thing that bugged me though was that Barik does not have his color wheel like other companions once washed up, and his colours default to like bright grass-green, not Disfavored purple. I am a stickler, so my whole party wore purples for this PT, and his green tunic bothered me. I even posted on the Paradox forums, but I am pretty sure there are more important things than adding color wheel for the freshly scrubbed Big B.

Companions' quests must be completed during Act II (it includes "Truth and Reconciliation" (BW)) for their follow-up quests to be available in Act III. Most of the quests (full main storyline), which start at the settlement, are available in both acts, but some side quests are blocked.

My thought was to do Barik and Verse's normal quests in Act 2, then do Barik's Act 3 quest, get him out of his armor, then do Verse's and Bastard's Wound. So it sounds like I'd miss out on at least one of Lantry's two quests that way, but otherwise is doable?

For Barik's quest you need to obtain information why he's trapped in the armor for the Act III part. And there are 2 side quests in the Wound, which can be done only in Act II, because one of the key NPCs dies in Act III.

There are romances now? What? For Barik and Verse, yes (not for Eb, though. Boo! ) They're not exactly deep. Not even a many scenes. Just sort of a progression of the relationship over the course of the game.

So, math for the curious and morbid. Kicking someone off the Spire at the end of Act 1, the narration says it takes 90 seconds for them to impact. Using this calculator: www.angio.net/personal/climb/speed.html...that means the top of the Spire is 40,000 meters, or so. That's more than 4x the height of Mount Everest. Spires be tall, yo.

Is the combat in Tyranny like the combat in PoE? I am interested but I always struggled with the combat in PoE so I'm unsure of a purchase.

Is the combat in Tyranny like the combat in PoE? I am interested but I always struggled with the combat in PoE so I'm unsure of a purchase. It is supposed to be easier. I did not purchase PoE, but in Tyranny, on Easy, I found it very straightforward, if a bit slow. The Companion AI was very decent as well for that difficulty, I almost never had to direct them. Basally you could create your own spells, and you have two skill trees per companion, and more trees for the main character. You click an ability, wait for it to execute, execute, done. There is no friendly fire, and the spells always hit the target. I hope this helps.

It is in that it's real-time-with-pause and has cooldowns, encounter, and per rest abilities. However, the spellcrafting system and talent trees are absent. What you have instead are class abilities you can select to unlock, and perks you can take. You also choose a specific class to take, in addition to a background (This doe not limit what you can equip, but it does affect your skills and, to some extent, perks). If you've played D&D, it's sort of a mix of third and fourth edition rules.

The blocked ones are "Midnight Wanderer" and "Gambler's Ruin". The questgivers still say something like "Fatebinder! I need your help!", but when you initiate dialogue there are no new quest-related options. I'd thought it to be a bug, if the NPC, important for both quests (Telesophia), wasn't dead in Act III (the corpse is presented).

Just wait for a sale and pick it with the Bastard Wound DLC.The dungeon itself might not really impact the story, but the three companions' quests are imo way worth it. Wish they added the quests for Eb, Sirin and Kill as well.

Okay, after killing the Malice in the Blade Grave Oldwalls, I got the Sage L message as soon as I left.
Edit: I'll be taking Lantry, I think. But who else? Does anyone else have much to say?

Unfortunately, that also means that cleaned up Barik is only available for like two hours of gametime tops. Just as a followup, having finished my Rebel play much more quickly than my first one (not having to do any restarting helped with that), it seems that the vendor in the Disfavored camp who only appears after starting NG+ will sell you an item that lets you de-armor Barik from the beginning. For story purposes, he'll still be trapped in the armor, and you can still re-run his personal quests, but you can dress him as you please.

I saw folks saying that the game is much more difficult, and seeing how easy is to get gear, I just started the second PT from level 1 again. Any thoughts?

Is there an advantage to starting NG+? I saw folks saying that the game is much more difficult, and seeing how easy is to get gear, I just started the second PT from level 1 again. Any thoughts? I did it for my Rebel game too and it wasn't, like, a blow-me-away level advantage, but it's definitely smoother than starting from scratch. You get to carry over all your money, 2+ Artifacts and 2+ Reputation abilities (both start at 2 the first time, and you get one additional carry-over each consecutive play), plus your stats and level, and all starting gear is purple/Exquisite quality. The stats and level part is what's kind of a double-edged sword, as enemies will scale up to your level new level as well. However, you get a free "respec" for your player character at the start and can reassign experience as you see fit if you want to try a different build (I went as a punch-mage first time, then a sword-n-board-er, now I'm going full-mage), and in my experience, at normal difficulty, at least, the scaling worked more in my party's favor. The only problem is that companion skills do not carry over, and are scaled up to your level in character appropriate ways instead. As such, if you did like I did in your first playthrough, and took advantage of skill trainers to boost everyone's Lore to max so your whole team could spam magic, you're gonna be kinda SOL when you start your NG+ and Barik joins you with a Lore of 20. This can be solved partially through respecs too, though, but bear in mind that respeccing is broken, so if you don't want companions to have every passive doubled, you won't be able to pick any Talents for the party members you get in Act 1. Still, even with the companion issue, I think it offers way more advantages than disadvantages.
