I think I am starting to get burnt out on Video Games. I can hardly play any game now longer then an hour without getting bored, and it is making me sad.

My solutions are...
Play games with easy pick up and put down mechanics. (ME3MP for instance)
Get high.
Drink/drink more.
Get your girlfriend to play, get sick of seeing her do bad then push her out of the way and take over.
Hate aliens more.
Be more afraid of zombies.
Read about people who play games for a living and try to pretend you're better than them at games.
***
That's it off the top of my head.

I don't know. Maybe I will drop some money and get the two Senran games I want. Maybe some fan service action will fix the problem.

I feel the same. It is likely just getting older, having your interests become a bit more altruistic. It also may have something to do with the fact that the gaming industry is going down the toilet; Devs doing less work, not completing projects & bitching about their office drama or personal politics. DLC becoming a necessary component of AAA games, single-player gaming becoming obsolete, and worst of all... consumers being too naive/idiotic to even realize something is wrong. In any other industry, an incomplete product or price gouging for the final 10% of a service would result in a HUGE uproar of complaints. Fucking gamers today are allowing this shit to happen... it is pathetic

The last great game was XCOM 2 for me. A few great games I've played were released between 2007-12. Many between 19971991-2005.
Just "good games" can't get me invested for long.

I think getting too old in this context does not mean the inability to enjoy games due to dementia, I've been gaming since 1994. In those 23 years I've seen it all and games start to repeat themselves over and over again, only with ever increasing quality of graphics. This has undoubtedly a negative impact on the fun I have when playing games.
If there was a completely fresh and original game with revolutionary gameplay mechanics and ideas, I think I'd jump on it like a rabid horny wolverine and enjoy the living shit out of it. Starting at the mid 90's a revolutionary groundbreaking game were released every year and thats where gaming peaked, now after around 2010 the curve of innovation has nearly completely flattened out and the gaming industry has become very MEH. Nobody dares to make really innovative stuff anymore.
But I hope Agony (EXTREMELY graphic survival stealth game set in hell), made by a very good polish indy studio is going to be such game. It appears pretty unique an very dark and does stuff no AAA title studio could even think about doing. Exactly the stuff I'm looking for.
So in a nutshell, yes I'm older but I'm sure I would enjoy gaming as much as I used to in my mid teens if the gaming industry had kept up.

I'm still on the fence about Andromeda, but I only got through 1.5 playthroughs on Inquisition. Witcher 3 and every Bioware title before Inquisition were replayed to embarrassing hours of time I could've spent like learning another trade.

I'm definitely having trouble completing new games recently. I find myself bouncing between games, instead of just playing 1 game strait through. I was playing KotOR, but I put that aside for some invisible inc. Then I started picking up MSG5 recently.
But these newer 'Triple A' titles, can't seem to keep me engaged anywhere near as long as I'd like.
I think its partly due to the gaming industry going to shit. But it could also be just getting older, which sucks.

So in a nutshell, yes I'm older but I'm sure I would enjoy gaming as much as I used to in my mid teens if the gaming industry had kept up. This sounds familiar. I've been playing games on electronic media since 1979, and I can't see my interest in gaming as such is flagging. However, I play fewer games and I play them longer. I'm also less tolerant of bad writing, storytelling and worldbuilding, probably because of the 2500+ books of fiction I've read since then. Those games that attempt to tell a story I judge by book standards, and while almost all of them fall short and I accept that to some degree, there is a limit. Its not that earlier games in general were so much better either, but that games have become better in many things, and I see no reason why they shouldn't become better in this as well. In addition, I have played a few truly great games, and I judge all games by the great ones, so more and more fall short. Having said that, the last 12 months have seen quite a few games that captured my interest. The most notable were Dishonored 2, XCOM 2 and most notable The Witcher 3. Along with Europa Universalis IV, which I only discovered last year, and Deus Ex:Mankind Divided which had subpar storytelling but still good enough to enjoy, that was quite enough to last the year. MEA...well, it's more a case of habit. It's not really hat bad, but it wouldn't have captured my attention if it had been made by another developer. All in all, I'm becoming more selective, but I'm not seeing my interest going away any time soon.

I have always been a little picky when it comes to video games because I know what I like. This feeling is more meh though then anything else. I would rather watch an Anime, or read book now it seems.

I don't think it's anything to do with you getting old. It's more likely that ideas, plots and storylines are getting worn out by their constant recycling. Same old story, just has a shiny new skin. Maybe things are getting a bit too formulaic and tired. Lack of innovation. You're still young it's their ideas that are old and creatively bankrupt. Probably need a new wave of indie game developers to shake up the establishment and get rid of the corporate dead wood. Personally what I would love to see is someone who could do to video games what Quentin Tarantino does with movies. I'd love to play that game. You're getting bored because you're not an idiot, you're outside the target moron demographic.

Biower pls Karma is a bitch with or without the Paragon/Renegade system. All the good karma Bioware had has been exhausted and consumed by EA's greed and Bioware's poor decisions. That whole backward gun thing is pretty much an excellent summary of Bioware.

What a piece of shit! I cannot BELIEVE there are still people defending Biower! Jesus fucking christ people! Have some dignity.. I will defend Bioware until the day they die! Which could be soon. Is it selfish of me to wish that the talented Bioware devs would just quit and start up a small development team and do Isometric stuff again? I mean, I would fund the hell out of that. No such luck though. Just have to wait for Dragon Age 4.

I wasn't completely happy with the way the story has developed, but for the most part I can't fault the artwork or the gameplay in DA. I haven't played any of the ME games, but I have played a lot of the Dragon Age games and DLCs.
