Barely into the game and I've already had to get rid of the collector's items as those very quickly become dead weight, and the space left makes keeping even a minimal inventory impossible.
In other words, I've never bought a collector's edition that was so unbelievably worthless. It was already questionable the value given the extras are all digital, but to make even retaining then so difficult you guys really go out of your way to slap your more loyal fans across the face. Not cool.
I bought it for the Pyjack (digital delux not actual collectors). Space monkey makes it totally worth it for it I use the guns though, except the pistol. Still using the scav armor after Eos.. not sure how much longer though.
Its the same with "special delivery items" in every game I've played - they never last long. They are intended as a boost to beginning. At least with this one you can upgrade the weapons to a higher level (Not sure about the armor)
I was very happy with my purchase: the casual outfit, the armor, the monkey. I was never really interested in the guns. I used them for a short time until I crafted my Isharay rifle. I've never changed the scavenger armor out with something else, though.
I prefer digital content to physical content but OP, do you know the actual collector's edition was a physical object? These were deluxe editions. I think you might have been happier with the Nomad display model or the RC Nomad from the collector's edition if you preferred physical content.
I'm still loving the Pathfinder Pioneer myself. It's basically a starter Valkyrie but I can still build more since you get the mats as well, and for some reason I have yet to let go of the Deep Space Explorer armor (and probably never will), though I use the pathfinder helmet now. I enjoy the casual outfit as well. I can take or leave the pyjak, but at least Ryder's dialogue to it doesn't bug out like Shepard did with the Fenris mech. She'd say something like "Good dog" and "Stay" at the same time, most of the time. In any case, I did it primarily for the soundtrack, so no regrets I guess.

I'm a Bioware detractor, but it sounds like I'd agree with them here. Ive never liked collector's editions that give out gear on the front end that obviates the normal processes of finding and/or creating things at the appropriate level for the game. I much prefer bonus content that's interesting or colorful, rather than overpowered.
If that's the approach they took toward the CE, huzzah for Bioware!
Well, that was uncomfortable. Time to settle back into my normal mix of disgust and amusement.

Same here Also for the hoodie, but pyjak was more important. Save
The hoodie's alright, but I'm all about that leather jacket. Finally, the femPC can use one. Shepard's hoodie was better I thought, though I love the AI mission patch on it.
We seriously need storage on board the tempest, instead of having to lug everything around through every map.
It's something Bioware keeps forgetting in every game so far: a lot of players are HOARDERS, and like to keep rare and unique designs. The Mass Effect games always suffered this problem, and so did KotOR, Dragon Age, you name it. The Dragon Age games very notably ALL had storage either added or increased with their DLCs.

Actually, up until MEA, only ME1 suffered this problem. ME2 and 3 essentially had a bottomless storage pit, though 2 didn't make the most of it since there wasn't a whole lot to get in the first place.
Why not just craft a higher level version then if the weapon is that important to you? They never said anything about the weapons scaling to your level, but at least they give you a way to keep them at your level.

Normally I am the same way with, but with Andromeda knowing that I can craft a better version I break down all the items I find during a mission and have a stack of resources to be able to make them again.
Personally I much preferred Mass Effect 3's system.

Really? I find the Pathfinder's weapons series are really good. Too bad you can't research them more than rank V... (bottom of the lists of each weapon type) The armors that give extra XP was also great for leveling early game.
I'm surprised you bought any collectors editions that weren't terrible. Ok, ok I'm sure some of them are really good but they tend to be hit and miss. And imo you should NEVER EVER EVVVVAAARRR get a collectors edition ONLY for some in game assets. Because as you found, they do not (and can not due to balancing) last. Color swaps are pretty meh too. I figured that people only got collectors editions for figurines and knick knacks that you can put on a shelf somewhere.
You only have yourself to blame, you're the one that bought it. Right?
Don't be daft. Bioware devs forced them at gunpoint to buy it, in no way are they responsible for their buying decisions.
Don't be idiots, the problem isn't with the collector's being digital, which I have no issues with otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.
I've had other digital only collector's that was will worth the extra cost, stuff like exclusive playable characters, etc. This is not even in the ballpark.

I can respect that you think the CE is an insult to customers and not worth the asking price. I just don't have much sympathy for buyer's remorse in this situation when doing one's homework would have prevented it instead of blindly preordering or paying release day price for it, is all.

I thought weapon upgrades were like it was in ME3 where you're capped at V until you do a NG+ where you can get VI-X?

Nah, on my 1st playthrough, I got to rank VII on several weapons already.. It's limited only by level.

Nope, they are level based. I finished my first game at lvl 62 and had level VII schematics unlocked. You still have to "learn" each level though, you can't just jump to VII right away. That part kinda sucks. I think the ranks unlock every 5 levels.

I pet the Pyjack every chance I get. Wait... That came out wrong.
For gear ranks, it might be every 5-6 levels as Rank V requires level 30. After that, it's every 10 levels. Rank X requires level 80.
