Not really. The two romances I've tried both end with sex. But I'm going to quote because it's just a small aspect of it all. I've also heard the romances either don't end well or are otherwise not reflected in the epilogues. I think the ending is slightly bugged (at least a certain part of it was), but I also may have bugged it because somehow I ended up romancing two people at once so it may just have not known what was going on. But it certainly didn't end on a bad note, imo.

I've also heard the romances either don't end well or are otherwise not reflected in the epilogues. Depends what you means by epilogue. The slides are more about the result of the last choice you made and how alive companions ended their personal quests (there is some randomness thrown in, like the dude I totally don't remember meeting in the game with marriage issues). There is an epilogue in the Lady boat after the final fight where I could talk to people (party members and some other people that hang out on the Lady). I romanced Lohse and she kinda acted like I was dumping her (she told me she still loved me and that I could come with her if I wanted, but I couldn't say yes...why?), but then I had weird things happening with her in the later part of the game and I'm not sure if her epilogue slide works with how I concluded her personal quest. I suspect her flags are bugged. She's apparently super bugged in Act 4 when you play as her too.

For those who have completed the game, how long did a full run take you, more or less?

That is the same issue I had she had nothing to say after the final battle either while Ifan and Sebille did Unfortunately a lot of quests are still bugged, the ones I can't finish are (that I remember): -Treated Like Cattle -Finder's Fee -The Three Altars -Arena of the One (though this is supposedly an MP thing) It's quite irritating because that's exp and gold lost

Did the developpers talk at all about patching and DLCs plans yet? Supposedly there's a "big patch" due out next week. And they are pretty good about postgame support. Heck the Original Divinity: Original Sin got an "Enhanced Edition" with all sorts of improvements.

For those who have completed the game, how long did a full run take you, more or less? 55 hours on Explorer, but I skipped a lots of content in act 2 and later and I seems to have missed side quests in act 1 as well. I know someone who scourged all the corners of every act who isn't done and already over 120 hours in it though and another (fast) player who took 70-80 hours (probably not completionist playthrough though). The game difficulty will also increase playtime.

In addition to the quest you mentioned I couldn't get closed "A Man and his Dog", "Business Rivals" and several small quests from the ghosts in the sawmill area. Probably because I killed everyone there and used spirit vision after that (still not right to get the quests at all in that case), but the first two should have been resolved normally as far as I can tell. I never know if I am missing some steps or the damned log is just bugged again, it's a completionist's nightmare . I think it is time to leave the Driftwood map, open quests be damned. As to the overall playtime, I'm closing in on 80 hours (on normal). For those who have finished the game, how much is left, contentwise? From what I can gather there should still be two more maps, but I doubt they are anywhere near as big as Reaper's Coast.

For example, "A Man and his Dog", I sent the dog away and I later stumbled on it which updated the quest log and the dog seemed to give hints about something but I never found out what (I was trying to do something else at the time so it wasn't a priority). Many cases of "still open/bugged quests" are just lack of info to what you are supposed to do "next". The last two map are about as big as the first one time wise but you can blitz the 3rd map rather easily and screw yourself royally in the 4th one and go around in circle wondering WTF you are supposed to be doing (I did, I had to resort to murder to advance the main plot after checking a guide).

I coulden't even try to finish "Finder's Fee" because someone might have eaten Mummie Dearest's head (though it should still close, even if failed). "The Three Altars" seems to have some connection to the scarecrows (the voice that wants you to rest), but from what I've read, doing the altars first and then talking to the scarecrows doesn't help either. Makes it look like parts of the quest aren't implemented, should the two really be connected. Got as far as you with the beggar's dog. There is supposed to be something near a memorial (the heroes' memorial, I think), but I've searched the place several times, with spirit vision, nothing. Either the place is wrong or there is something not where it should be. I guess that's what you get if you can't restrain yourself and wait a few weeks after release to buy.

Yeah, I've read that the dog and Heroes Memorial is connected as well but it failed to finish. I'll try doing the scarecrows after the altars, see if what you read is true. I've also encountered where Saheila didn't recognize me at the sawmill even though it was my character who spoke to her back at Fort Joy Edit: doing the altars then the scarecrows didn't change anything.

I saw a screenshot on twitter with an example of player responces in a dialogue, and I really did not like the style. It is just sorts of like an indirect indication of what your character intends to say, not an actual complete sentence. Weird. The NPC line in responce was not great either.

Just curious, but is this game fun for someone who has never played any of the Bioware classics like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights and generally isn't that much of a fan when it comes to isometric RPG's?
I keep reading lots of praise everywhere, so the game is obviously doing something right, but I'm just trying to figure out if the game would be fun for me as well.

Normally I wouldn't go anywhere near turn-based games and Baldur's Gate made me want to throw my computer out of my window, but I had a blast with both D:OS EE and D:OS2. I think the soundtrack is amazing, which is always an important thing to me, and the characters are very well written with great voice acting and a good story to keep me going. So I guess take that for what you will.

Yep, it's all paraphrased from the narrator's POV. Had a conversation with a rat that went like: narrator: "You think the rat is lying." me:"You are lying." rat:"I am not lying... okay maybe." Lots of events are also narrated rather than shown or a mix of both. It's certainly something to get used to, but I think they wanted to come as close as possible to a classical pen-and-paper RPG. I find it neither good nor bad, it is simply part of the game's style.

Yes, I really did not like that, because I really like the dialogues to be like a play and appreciate the witty rejoinders including from the PC

I played DOS (not the EE version) and couldn't finish it because it's dreary to be interacting with myself. It's monologuing twice over. I don't want to know nor choose what the other companion is going to say. Gameplay was trying too. I wasn't intending to buy DOS 2, thinking it's the same thing as DOS. After I watched the gameplay on Twitch and saw it's vastly different from DOS, I bought it and didn't regret it.

I don't want to know nor choose what the other companion is going to say. Gameplay was trying too. You could set the second protagonists on auto-responses (even at release), there was like 5 different "personality" to pick from (I always picked loyal, so they always agreed with me and didn't decide to break the party).

I don't want to know nor choose what the other companion is going to say. Gameplay was trying too. You could set the second protagonists on auto-responses (even at release), there was like 5 different "personality" to pick from (I always picked loyal, so they always agreed with me and didn't decide to break the party).
I tried to have fun with that mechanic, picking the opposite view on the second char a lot of the time, then rolling with the R/P/S result. whatever it turned out to be.

I played BG back then but when I play it now, I find I couldn't finish it. I started D:OS with a friend and enjoyed it, but his life picked back up after summer so I just decided to finish it up. Not as fun without a friend, but fun enough to finish it and it was something to do while waiting for D:OS2. I played DOS (not the EE version) and couldn't finish it because it's dreary to be interacting with myself. It's monologuing twice over. I picked loyal for the both of us, started out fine but then my other character started to choose the opposite. Like girl, who did you become side chick to? Really irritating during the soul forge choice and it took three or four tries to make it go my way. (I decided I did not like the soul forge option after she turned on me.) I didn't see anything about an auto-response though, may have just been me picking options that I thought agreed but clearly did not.

That's the thing; I don't want to pick the companion's (2nd protag) personality. I want to learn about their personalities, their quirks, what makes them tick. I want to be surprised. To me, DOS is a total failure in the companion department. That's why I never finished it.
