Been playing quite a bit of "From Other Suns". It's basically a first person VR lighter version of FTL with FPS combat missions and it's super fun. The main plus is the controls. You actually have holsters in which you store your guns at the side of your body. There is something to beaming over to a pirate ship, grabbing your laser pistol from your hip and start shooting up the place, physically leaning out of cover or ducking behind crates. It does turn out though that aiming a gun in proper three dimensions is a whole different story from the usual video game shooters, where you always just shoot the middle of the screen. Now you actually have to line up the gun. I didn't hit a thing during my first couple of sessions but I am improving ... slowly . Also fun, when you are low on health, you grab a stim pack (think little scifi syringe) and jam it into your body to heal yourself. It all just feels very natural. As a bonus for Mass Effect fans, you basically have an Omnitool on your wrist, that pops out a holographic menus or mini map. Bring up your Omnitool on your left wrist and tap holographic buttons with your right index finger, just like in real scifi. So the FPS controls are fantastic and the missions are super fun. The only thing that I wish was improved are the space battles. They are very rudimentary, basically you just click on a weapon to fire it and manage your crew FTL style. There is no maneuvering whatsoever, which is a shame. It would have been great to get to sit in the pilot's chair and have dog fights (or maybe more tactical naval style fights) in this game. As it is, being on the ship is a tad boring as you can only jump between stars, communicate, or do the very basic battles and crew management. But even without proper space battles, just the FPS part is awesome. I didn't make it back to Earth yet but it's the journey that counts anyway.

More Assassins Creed 4 today. Returned to the animus and apparently Kenway got some good acid in Jamaica, since that sequence was something else. But seriously I really liked it, gorgeous visuals, exciting drama and maybe some tears?
Really enjoyed the little bonding scenes afterwards as well. You just get to enjoy the hurt for a while, instead of being tossed back into the action straight away. And finally got a lady on the ship, so that was nice. And I know the whole "Woman on the ship means bad luck" but I like having 'em. Got giddy at the next assassination, since I figured I had called it. And also had fun sticking my tongue out at the guards because they didn't dare to swim after me and so they had no choice but to forget. Forget until they spotted me again and the swimming began anew. Realized I need to go back someday and do the "Help the Assassin in Havana" quest, since that hug was adorable! The rest of the bit in there was okay too I guess, but hugs are highlights. Then cheered because I called it! Big spoiler in spoiler. Connected the dots when Roberts said he needed "to wait a few more centuries to see Her". Made that little outburst in the server room make a lot more sense. Still, kinda disappointed at the same voice and the face, since well it felt a bit on the nose. Granted the whole bit with the face in the box, but like he could have shaved. And well, he should have shaved. That beard was a fashion disaster and he must've known! Also makes it odd that nobody who over looked the files for the trailer went like: Hey that guy looks a lot like that guy from IT...And they even share the same necklace and voice...And since we know the Sage respawns...Maybe we should hook him to the animus and see if he has the observatory location somewhere in his noggin! Anyway, read the e-mails and om nom nom gonna be digging into those Turkish Delights. And coffee guy is alive! Huzzah. Better hide some of the Delights for him if I ever get the chance to visit. Because this job is totally not going to end with a bullet to the brain. Right? RIGHT?!
Then back to the animus for the last bit of adorableness. Found the final scene very touching, loved having a tiny quartermaster for a while and the other scene was cute too. And so with that I've wrapped up the main story of Assassin's Creed 4. Think I'll be moving to the next game instead of lollygagging. But if I do return to any of the games at a later date, this one will be it for sure. Lots of chilling to be done, and then there is also Havana. So will probably be moving to either Freedom Cry or Rogue next. So dazk Would you recommend Freedom Cry or should I skip it for now? Also can really see why you liked this game so much! Gameplay wise it was my favorite of the lot so far (after the controls clicked). --- Also isn't it amazing when you just wrote up a long post, pouring out all the feels, then accidentally smack backspace on the mouse and toss them feels in the bin?

Curious Crow I am so glad you liked it, you have made me want to play it again!!!! Maybe see if you can find some stuff re Freedom Cry on the net, I loved Adewale and bought it because I wanted to see how his future played out but a lot of the gameplay is repetitive of what you have just done. There are few gameplay mechanics I didn't like in FC and I admit by the end I rushed through it. It does have some lore stuff though but I cannot remember how much or how important it was. Re AC BF, the story, the game world and the gameplay just lent itself to having fun, not to mention that I thought the NPC's in this game were a standout. The ending was well done too, not that it made me tear up at all!!!!! If you skip Freedom Cry I'd recommend playing AC Rogue next it gives insight into AC 3 and Achilles from the Templar side, you should definitely play it before AC Unity as it also ties directly into the start of that game. Element Zero am I correct in that timeline? AC Rogue has also been remastered, so if you get it make sure you get the remastered version.

ATLAS Logged in find extensive building. Player A with whom I discussed how the company should proceed yesterday after Griefer snuck into our base asked if we weren't going to ask for aid from allies to relocate. I told him that's not up to me since I'm not the leader. Judging from the building, we're going to stay. I said I dropped a message to the leader in Discord. One of the admins then responded that they are looking for a suitable island so relocation is in the plan. All was pretty quiet for a few hours. Then up came the call for the crew to get on the schooner. We were going to sink the brigadier the bad guys were building. The schooner was vastly changed. It now has huge cannons on the top deck. I was impressed then dismayed by the numbers. Three in front and three medium cannons at the back. It's a bad idea to mount such huge cannons that should be on a galleon. The weight is going to slow down the schooner. I said nothing. They would have taken the weight into account. It's still a very bad idea to me. If there's two in front and one at the back, it would have been better but somebody thought it's a good idea to have a lot of firepower. What's more, they put up a set of drums on the left prow. Are you guys pulling my leg? That's more weight the schooner has to drag. Below deck, all gunports have medium cannons. Space was tight and at one point, I was stuck between mast, ammo box and a cannon. By the by, we reached bad guys' base shipyards in no time, barely a 5 mins sail. That's how bad we're situated. Stuck on an island with griefers right next door. We fired into the brig but there were bad guys there. It was completed so they sailed it out. The mistakes became glaring. The captain failed to block the entrance of the shipyard. Two, my misgivings about the cannons and weight were borne out. We couldn't catch them. If there were none of the big cannons on board, we would have caught the brig despite it having three masts. The schooner is supposed to be the faster and lighter ship. With speed sails, it can catch up. We were fully primed for a fight, they probably weren't. Alas. Anyway, we returned to base and went about our business. While the captain was backing the ship into the shipyard, there was a dingy in the way. So I got into it and rowed it out of the way. I've never handled a dingy so it was confusing at first but I got the hang of it after the dingy insisted on dumping me into the water twice. I decided to row it to a small pier and tried to manuever it around the stairs of the shipyard. The dingy exploded. I was dumbfounded. I wasn't rowing fast or pushing, it just struck the stairs gently and then shattered into pieces. The captain saw it, laughed and asked what was I doing. He then set about bringing out another schooner for resource runs. He would be scouting for potential islands on this trip. I'm not going to log in and find out if griefer brought his brig to bombard our base. That is what he would do since all US players are zzzZZZz at this time. I'll find out tomorrow if we still have a base. If not, it's up the leader to decide what to do. Either merge with a bigger company or have everyone return to freeport and from there, strike out for a new island. Preferably close to an ally.

dazk and Curious Crow, it sounds like you’ve (Crow, that is) only played Black Flag of the colonial games? Freedom Cry is fun if you like Adewale. (Who doesn’t?) It’s not as good as the main game, and has some overly used mechanics, but killing slavers is disturbingly pleasing. It also has some cool historical and lore tie-ins, if you intend to really dive into the series. In regard to the main games, I’d recommend playing AC3 next. The march of years might go AC4-> Rogue-> AC3, but they were obviously not released in that order. Rogue will lose all impact of you haven’t already set the stage by first playing AC3. Rogue gives us a glimpse into years and events only hinted at in AC3, and gives us a new perspective on some of AC3’s critical NPCs. Despite its mechanical limitations, I really enjoy Rogue. It’s the only game that has let us take the side of “Order”, and presented the awesome Colonial Rite in a favorable light. I’m still waiting for some more sympathetically written Templars and an option to support them. Sigh. As dazk mentioned, Rogue leads directly into Unity. When I say directly, I mean that Rogue’s closing scene is Unity’s opening, simply viewed from a different perspective. I played them back to back at launch and found the connection pretty cool. When in doubt, just play these games in the order in which they were released. At the very least, this will prevent confusing, WTF moments with the modern day storyline. While the AC3 thru Rogue animus arc bounced backward and then forward in time, the modern story played out in the order of release. Characters were also developed and built upon in the order of release, as I mentioned in regard to AC3 and Rogue. I’d recommend playing them in order of release whenever possible.

dazk, I just failed to read carefully. I agree that Rogue is the best full game to pursue after Black Flag. Playing them in release order is probably best, though I’ll personally never replay Syndicate. Jacob and Evie were cool, and so were some of the NPCs, but that game is just terrible in my opinion. If it can be had cheaply, I guess it’s worth experiencing at least once. The story had potential.

I agree re Syndicate, funnily enough Evie is the only constant Lieutenant I have had on The Adrestia all game, even as immersion breaking as it is. Watching her and Alexios with that great finishing move of his in sea battles is great fun. Oddly, when the ship is berthed and the crew stand around and talk, Myrinne and Evie seem to talk the most.

Decided to make a liar out of myself for while. Because I was feeling cheap. So sailed a bit around Assassin's Creed 4, nabbing some animus fragments and chests. Killed three sharks for the sins of their brethren. Then did the "Save the Assassin" mission in Havana and quite liked it too. She's a fun gal. Then decided to move on. Decided to do Freedoms Cry since it seemed to get a positive rating from dazk and Element Zero And ended up finishing it with 100% synch in the main story. Did hardly do any side quests or exploring, because there were a bunch of little annoyances that just kept adding up. But I did like the main quest and had a good experience. Or well, as good as you can given the subject. Started up Rogue and tried to remember if Odyssey had the three profile options and came up blank. Since that would be the one to benefit from it, seeing as there are two peeps to play. If there isn't I'm curious at which game they stopped it. Since I'm becoming fond of naming the profile Kitty Kat. So far: I like Patrick's voice. That accent, swoon. Riding Morrigan on the waves. Ehehehehe. Spent so long 100% synching the first mission, then missed the second because the frigging objectives didn't show up. >:C So screw you synch. Oh and HAI IMOEN! *fistbump*. To bad she aint my keeper. Am I playing the same person as in Black Flag outside the animus? Because the change from wrecking to fixing stuff is amusing. Even if the fixing is way trickier. Also not sure if I have a name now, since I'm playing without subtitles and names seem to be the things that allude me. Checked the progress tracker and the game seems really short? But there also seems to be loads of side stuff to do, so maybe that fills it up. So far, having fun. So that is nice.

Meant to ask, did you warm to James Kidd after his transformation? Did you pick it? That was a sad story line in the end.

MarilynRobertvertigomezI started Vampire the Masquerade. Even though it's keyboard and mouse, I'm intrigued enough with the Seduction mechanic and the story in the tutorial that I'm going for it anyway. I may be a Vampire but I'm going to play as much like a Succubus as possible I didn't feel like starting my own thread as I find it unlikely I will be spoiled on such an old game.

That'll help a bit if you're going for those social stats. Also, would it intrigue you to learn that that ghoul is voiced by Cullen? Lmfao.

Just met a ghoul and he reminds me of Shepard's biggest fan I only play with keyboard and mouse so that is a point in favor of this game for me. And @ vertigomez says it has a character voiced by Cullen's VA! I'm going to at least have to watch some Youtube.

I may be a Vampire but I'm going to play as much like a Succubus as possible I didn't feel like starting my own thread as I find it unlikely I will be spoiled on such an old game.
Just met a ghoul and he reminds me of Shepard's biggest fan I only play with keyboard and mouse so that is a point in favor of this game for me. And @ vertigomez says it has a character voiced by Cullen's VA! I'm going to at least have to watch some Youtube. More than one character, actually! He also plays an Australian surfer. Weeeeeeeeee! I'm glad you're giving it a shot; hope you enjoy it and hope you're able to keep playing. Are you playing as a Toreador? That'll help a bit if you're going for those social stats. Also, would it intrigue you to learn that that ghoul is voiced by Cullen? Lmfao. What! Would never have guessed. I was thinking he was annoying as heck. I'm totally playing Toreador And I just somehow got 50 bucks out of the diner lady by pretending to be the health inspector Haha, good times. This brings back memories. Feel free to regale us as you go. 😁 You can be a total dick in this game. I know because I did an unapologetically monstrous run of it.

Vampire Masquerade: Oh shit. I just got a prostitute and I don't know what to do with it. I thought it'd go "fade to Black" with some noises. Lol I'm not used to be hand held on my digital video game sex. Save me Bioware! Haha! You can feed from her if you take her somewhere secluded. No booty tho.

Playing Forza 4. My intro to racing games and I am thoroughly impressed. Way more in depth than I expected and roaming the countryside is actually pretty fun.

Vampire Masquerade: ROFL Shepard could learn these dance moves Awwwwwww I fed the red head my blood and she doesn't have to call me mistress now? Sadness. Got a humanity but she called the cops and then I lost one defending myself :/ Oops, found the main storyline (beelines away) Looking for a missing Hunter who's looking for a mark which leads me to...a modelling gig. This makes sense

I put the finishing touches on my most recent PT of Horizon: Zero Dawn. What a great game that is. I tied up all loose ends in the Cut (in The Frozen Wilds expansion) and rode south simply to see “Nukoni’s Arrows” reach the Sundom. That lot is a group of three hunters with a tragic backstory. Aloy can aid them in finding a new purpose and home. They are a lot of fun; hilarious and upbeat even in sadness. Great NPCs.
I finally sifted through several Ultra Hard PTs worth of gear modifications. I kept only the very, very best stuff. I sold a few unneeded suits and a ton of mods. I then created my NG+ loadout from that baseline.
After finishing HZD, I’m always tempted to begin anew. I’m debating whether to start an entirely fresh PT from level one. The biggest thing making me hesitate in that regard is the annoyance of hunting for skins and bones to upgrade my myriad carrying capacities and quivers. The drop rate is annoyingly low, making something simple take too much time. I’d also miss a few of the quality of life skills that were added as the finishing touches with TFW. (I’d eventually acquire those, of course, but not until very late game. They’re nice, non-essential things.) Maybe I’ll instead play my usual Ultra Hard NG+ with some self-imposed restrictions in regard to gear and the like.
After completing that and while debating my next move, I dropped in to check out this week’s AC Odyssey update. I knocked out a daily and weekly quest, and completed the latest “Lost Tales of Greece” addition. It was solid. I’m not really in Odyssey mode after 3 completionist PTs (that’s around 400 hours). I’ll cintinue dropping in to sink new Alpha ships and get the rewards. The next chapter of the first Expansion releases next week. I may play it then, or I may just wait until the full arc is released.
I still have two Spider-Man DLC chapters to play. The first was just so bad that it’s killed my interest in playing. The main game is a lot of fun, pairing good mechanics and a great story experience. The DLC, though, feels like mindless busywork. They took all of my least favorite parts of the game and bundled them together for a three-part series of DLC. Bleh. Very disappointing.

ATLAS So strangely, the base is still standing when I logged in. Not long after, a new patch rolled in. Everyone relogged in to find levels have set back to 1 so we have to apply the points again to abilities. Lighting in the game have improved. Weather was changed. We suddenly have rain so out went the water barrels. We're also getting cold snaps and fog/ What's good is that another plant offering fiber has been added. What's bad is that the trees seem to stop respawning. A few hours later, we were struck by the griefer again. It occurred to the admins as strange. Why was he attacking alone? Why wasn't he coming at us with his friends? Whatever it was, he was very sneaky and fast. He came in as an ally, whose name is just a string of one alphabet. I saw it and thought it strange. This is the part I'm not clear about; whether he came in pretending to be an ally or he got a fellow bug who have infiltrated an ally to come into our base. Whatever it was, this person with a long alphabet string built a building just within the base. I didn't give much thought to it because I thought the admin builder was building it. A pet wolf was snarling viciously at the house when I passed it some time later. I thought it strange but never gave it much thought. I was so stupid. But then, I thought maybe the wolf glitched out due to the patch. It turned out the griefer had spawned in the house, courtesy of the mole which was why pet wolf was growling and biting. Poor wolfie was killed. That set off questions and one of the admins realised what happened. He destroyed the house. I don't know why I seemed to be the one spotting troubles but later on, I noticed one of the sloops was wrecked. I asked around, over Discord, and it then occurred to everyone the griefer was going about wrecking the base. The hunt was on. One of the admins went out and then said he found him, told us to help him. That was me and another player but I was confused because I had no idea which sloop he was referring to and where it was. They moved them around when I wasn't online so I was at a lost. He was killed and thanked us sarcastically for the 'help'. I let it go since I knew he was feeling very frustrated by this griefer. The group that had gone out to gather resources were returning but very wary of docking. They were right. The griefer attempted to board with a grappler hook and they couldn't believe it that he could swim that fast since the sloop was sailing at speed. It was ridiculous. We saw the wake / foam behind the sloop, indicating speed and yet the crew said he was grappling on, climbing on and using the hook to haul at the crew member at the helm. Was he hacking the game? It's not possible to have that kind of swimming speed as a sloop at full sail. He got away and managed to sink another sloop, tried for a third but did not succeed. For a time nothing happened though we would see messages that raft so and so were attempted at so we knew he was around. I found an unknown bed just outside the base. It's strange he could build so close. I destroyed it since it made no sense any company bed would be outside the gates. They're now inside ships and the base. Finally, he was spotted just outside the base, near the cliff. We gave chase. Someone shot him with fire arrows, he tried to grapple to the gate and get away as he did last time. He didn't succeed and was killed. Company leader then said he had enough, they were going to bombard the enemy base at a time they're sure he wouldn't be around. I'll find out tomorrow if they succeeded.
