Got some of most annoying achievements in gaming history... I got one biggie achievement in the game I've been playing... 100 days Survival in The Long Dark (permadeath survival game). I have two even bigger ones yet to go - 500 days survival and Faithful Cartographer (map each and every zone in the entire map... and the game map is huge (and they keep adding to it). The other achievement I recently got was surviving 1 day in Interloper mode (highest difficulty setting). However, that character is now very likely to die at the paws of the bear outside the moment he leaves the safety of his current shelter. If he doesn't leave, he'll die of thirst in the next 24 hours anyways. My 100+-day character is on the easiest difficulty.

Vampire Masquerade I was already thinking this dude was a murderer anyway and then there is this HINT in the form of a Newspaper article about a gruesome death he's going to be surprised when I vamp him He finds me talking to his victims and I beat him to death with a bat. But I wanted to Eat him to Death. I've not managed to succeed at feeding during battle, I guess it doesn't let you? And I definitely need a map

I've been playing through Rise of the Tomb Raider on the hardest difficulty. The game just fucking crashed during the final boss fight for the fourth time in a fucking row. As great as that is, on the hardest difficulty there is no auto saving, it only saves at camp fires. So every time this piece of shit crashes I have to go back and do the whole stupid three stage lead up to the fucking boss over again. Fantastic game utterly ruined by a beyond retarded save system. Fuck whatever eunuch came up with that trash.

phoray Feeding in battle is connected to the Unarmed stat, so Strength+Brawl=More chances of successful combat lunch. And then the type of enemy also matters, since it's easier to eat a human than a supernatural. But pretty sure "bosses" or foes with health bars are immune to being eaten. Which is sad, because there is one later on which is basically walking lunch. I think the Presence skill might also make things easier, but not completely certain.

Fuck whatever eunuch came up with that trash. I can remember having "fun" with that myself. I'm not sure why so many games seem to think it's a great idea to deny the player the ability to save whenever they want (out of immediate combat, that is). Game crashes aside, I get interrupted frequently and it would be nice to be able to save before leaving the Xbox paused, where any number of things can happen (other people bumping the controller accidentally, blips in our power supply, etc.)

Didn't warm up to him when she showed her true self. Mostly because I was being jealous that she could get that shade of lipstick with just pricking her finger, but also because I was still annoyed over the whole moral speech at the manor. Lady you're a pirate and an assassin, both involve killing and removing people of their belongings, don't act so high and mighty about me. And well the twist wasn't a surprise because I was not buying that she was a man, unless she was masquerading as a twelve year old or something.
But she got massive plus points for the sass at the trial. And I don't think I ever wished death on her, so I genuinely felt bad in her last scene and would have gone an extra mile to save her if I'd seen that as an option. So kinda warmed up to her. A little. Towards the end. But I suspect if I replayed it I'd feel more fond of her since a lot of the annoyances were just me wrestling with the game. ---- As for what was done did today? Lollygagging in Assassin's Creed Rogue. Once the accent charm wore off, I must say, Patrick feels like a bit of a whiner. Guess it's needed to move on the plot, but just shush. Though he makes decent points about his targets I guess. Been squeezing in a lot of exploring between main quests. Hope he gets grenades soon since it's a bummer to almost fully explore an area but not being able to because "Haha there is a wall of ice in your way" and your swords and guns are useless against the fearsome foe that is Frozen Water! Otherwise no gameplay complaints. Except for Patrick would you please stop slipping off the places you are perched on? I swear someone spilled oil on some points because he had no reason to fall off. And the usual wall hugging I guess.
Main quest wise there was a party with fireworks, my beloved darts returned ready for long range chaos, Morrigan got a little ram to break the coldness of others, not her own of course and then we continued dealing with the elderly.
Oh. And PENGUINS! So cuuute.

I just reinstalled ME2 and all the glorious DLC. Reinstalled whole trilogy since I bought ME2 and ME3 DLC Bundles on sale. Can't make myself to finish TW3, got bored with the game in first third of B&W, but I will endure; four more achievements left. Also playing Borderlands games with friends, but no more than hour a day.

Oh. And PENGUINS! So cuuute. It’s a bit of a mess in parts, but I really like Rogue. It could’ve been one of the very best games of the series, had it gotten priority treatment. It felt good to fight for the other side, finally, and for the side with the cool toys and powerful allies. One cool detail I appreciated is something you’ve maybe not yet seen. Morrigan eventually flies the colors of the Royal Navy, and bears a non-historical yet really interesting identifier. You’ll see a small green flag in a place that would usually designate your specific naval assignment and affiliation. This original flag a pretty cool way to quietly say, “We’re Special Forces, mind your business,” or even, “We’re Templars. Sod off.” Little stuff like that is interesting to me. Alas, I really leaned into the whole team branding and flew black sails with giant ass red crosses, so I’m not sure how subtle I could actually claim to be. A golden wheel with a red cross at the helm was a nice finishing touch. Those birds are a Great Auks, and they were pretty awesome (or Great, I guess?) Sadly, they’re extinct. Humans really suck. I have Rogue Remastered in my PSN cart. I should probably buy it while it’s on sale this week.

ATLAS Yesterday, I logged in during the hours when most US players are asleep. Over Discord, I heard the captain discussing the merits of the island that was found; he was going to build his schooner there. From the list in Discord, there wasn't many company members present so I asked if he wanted an extra hand. He said yes. After a brief debate, it was decided a company crew would sail the sloop back to base to offload and also fetched me to the island. While I waited, I didn't go out because the griefer was present. When the sloop arrived, I warned the company member of the dangers of docking the sloop. The griefer could easily take us out while we were busy unloading. We had seen how he moved about the day before and no one is inclined to believe he didn't hack the game. So the plan changed to me going out and jumping onto the sloop when it neared the base. The plan succeeded though I had misgivings when I saw red dmg numbers going off at the gate I was going to use. I opted to exit through another gate. The sail was uneventful though a few ghost ships came near. In the end, it wasn't the ghost ships that sunk us but tornadoes. The sloop sprung several holes and both us couldn't move fast enough to bail and repair. Both of us died in the sea, along with a hoard of supplies but we respawn on the island we were going to. It's a nice island, temperate, I thought. It's missing one element of food and it's filled with wild life. Irritating wildlife because the devs changed the perception zone of the wildlife. Giant snakes, rattlesnakes, lions and tigers that always attack players now automatically veered towards players while they are not in line of sight. This is an unwelcome and unfathomable change. What's worst, the devs also managed to muck up the respawn rate of resources, causing a severe lack. They fixed a few issues earlier but failed to address the resource glitch. Nevertheless, we managed to get about 80% of the captain's schooner up. For an hour or so, it was just the two of us working on the schooner as the others had logged off. The captain had been up for nearly a day. I asked him about it and he said he had snatched four hours sleep. I thought he's nuts but didn't say so. He was clearly very adamant in getting his schooner after seeing his all hardwork; sloops and schooners destroyed by the griefer at the old base over the last few days. This is his finger at the guy. He also has a keen interest in old ships but I couldn't engage very well in this subject since I've limited knowledge. What we did was to discuss the layout of the ship, what would work and what would not; how many cannons, placements of vital equipment, etc. I wasn't the only he sought input from, the others put in suggestions here and there. Now it looks like a mini-galleon. A nicely built one I have to say. The resource respawn glitch became critical when he wanted to build a base. I could built in stone so I was given the task but there was a lack of a few materials so he went off in a sloop with another company member to grab the mats from freeports. In the meantime, I tried to gather whatever resources there were available. I succeeded in getting chased by two snakes. There was another crew member present. She died a lot. At first it was two snakes. Then it was another two. Then one more. Then I was pounced upon by a tiger and a snake. Both were taken out. I died a few times btw. Then another idiot tiger came out of nowhere. When a wildlife is killed, any similar species roaming nearby will also attack. The problem is now that wildlife perception zone is increased, they are coming from a farther distance. So the second tiger that was nowhere in the area now suddenly appeared because of this. I died again. Respawned and got my revenge. Took all their hides, meat and bones. Captain came back with the resources and I completed the little base. It's not permanent as that island is not what we're looking for. It's a place we can build ships in peace. Someone came to visit us on her pet wolf. They have a base on the island. However, they want an alliance and the captain accepted the offer. Before I logged off, I heard Mr Griefer now has his own problems; he was attacked by other companies as he was also making trouble for them. So they're now making trouble for him. Good riddance. Reap what you sow.

Last night I used the Genisis DLC in ME2 to create an infiltrator Shepard, created a save right after you first wake up, fired up a save game editor, added the skills for the assault rifle and shotgun, added the 3 weapons you get from the collector ship to the armory, Saved that save into a new slot, and tested it to make sure it loaded fine. Tonight, I'm going to use this custom shepard to see if I can get off the station or not. I might want to add some levels to him too, and some paragon/renegade points, as if I played the game in the past, and just created a new-game + with him.

Still in the process of trying out VR games. Last night it was Vanishing Realms, Basically a dungeon crawler but no RPG elements, you just loot gold and upgrade equipment over time. Compared to something like Skyrim VR, this one cannot quite hold up. It's fun to be sure but there are a few things that bother me: - Movement controls: I really don't like those teleporting controls that seem to be standard for VR, I'd much rather move smoothly through the world with the sticks. While there is an option to move using the left stick, it's fairly slow and turning can't be set to smooth, it'll always be at something like a 30 degree angle hard turn. - Graphics are ok for VR I guess but definitely not great. Feels a little like being in something like a Zelda cartoon world. - No proper holsters/sheaths. This is something that I also wish Skyrim VR would do better. It would be cool if you could just sheath your sword by ... well, just putting it into a sheath on your hip. Like you do with the guns in From Other Suns. Instead, you choose your weapons from some menu that floats around your belly. They could have done this more immersively. - Fighting is a bit weird since you always seem to have to hit enemies from the left or they'll block you with their shields. I am right handed, so this feels a little odd. I guess this game would be super easy for someone left handed. - I hope I can upgrade the inventory eventually, just having two slots feels a little low, especially since you have to constantly juggle between items and weapons. On the plus side, I like the fire mechanic. If you have a torch, you can set everything you'd expect on fire, cloth, straw, or other torches and candles. This is also relevant for puzzles or for finding secret loot. Some of the puzzles are nice in general. I am not that far into the game yet so so far they are all fairly easy but still, nice to have them. I also like that you can climb ladders, chains and ropes just by grabbing them and then climbing hand over hand. Feels very natural. As a final thought, I noticed that with this game (as in most VR games I played so far) you have to participate yourself quite a bit to make it fun and immersive. You have to get into it. If you want, you could just play the game in a very unnatural way, which would probably make it much easier but also much less fun. For example, after a while you get a pick-axe, with which you can mine ores for more gold. To do it, you are meant to swing the pick-axe at the ore, as you'd expect IRL. After a few swings, the ore will break and you can collect the gold. However, it turns out, all that matters is the angular speed of the axe head, so you could also mine just by flicking your wrist. Even worse, weapons and items (like the axe) don't collide with level geometry, so you can flick your axe downward once and then back up, hitting the ore again from below. This does save time but obviously, it doesn't feel real anymore. You could do the same for fighting, too and make a sword fight feel like playing table-tennis. You have to want to do the movements more realistically but if you do, it's cool.

That's interesting about the Great Auks. Also a bit amusing for me since I walk past our monument of them pretty much every evening. Granted the monument is gray metal and it's been way to dark to see it for the last few weeks, but still. Would have been neat to connect the dots. ---- What was done today: Took the long scenic route to the next mission in Assassin's Creed Rogue. AKA pretty much sailed a ring around 90% of the map, instead of going back the 10% like I think they expected me to do. Partly because I figured I might explore as much as I can now, in case I suffer the same fatigue as in Black Flag once the main quest went on. And partly because I like Liam and want to keep him a bit longer. So basically just taking him hostage for now.
Stopped on every map node on the way, so now I only have like 3 left to explore on the entire map.
Stuff that happened: Patricks fat arse broke a few bridges and made a massive hole in the ground. Granted they were probably pretty unstable, the hole might just have been covered up and Patrick is a slim fellow, but the mental image is fun. Realized that I don't like hunting Beavers. Their cries are so pained. So of course there were two hunting challenges to be done with them as the prey.
A few moments of Patrick refusing to climb or sliding off and not breaking his neck because he didn't feel like fully stepping on a ledge. He usually behaves well, but when he doesn't it really sticks out in my mind.
And have been feeling pretty much ruthless about dealing with guards in my way. You don't like seeing me climb up a tower? How about I just poke your eyes out! Which is an interesting contrast from my attempts at not murdering everyone in Black Flag. I think it's just repressed memories when similar looking guards attacked Connor constantly for the only reason that he existed. But it's also made me wonder. Once he flips sides, does he also flip sides on the war? Will the Brits become my buddies and the French suddenly start sending him dirty looks? Or maybe it's just business as usual. Something to look forwards to I guess.

Never played as male in NWN2, though I've played the game 5 or 6 times. I 'romanced' Casavir first time around, if you can call it that, then went for Bishop every time after with the companion mod installed. Favorite PCs were priest of Lathander and Arcane Archer. My last run through MotB fizzled out because I was playing an evil character and I just couldn't get into the evilness of wanting to be a spirit eater.

Man, I find Bishop's romance totally satisfying in the vanilla campaign, because it plays out exactly as I'd expect a romance with a Chaotic Evil person to play out. I love him tho. I had my female KC move on from him to Gann, A++ character progression, do recommend. 👌 Funny enough, I have never played either of those classes!

Russia dropped 3 nukes on me and partially slowed my conquest. SAD! I'm no nuke lover, I only may retaliate on bigger empires if they drop them on me. Lost like 5 aircraft units. Thanks to my stronk Navy I won tho. I saw the 4th nuke coming so I stopped the war with sub-optimal peace treaty b4 they ruin another city. Rome is too strong. I need to prepare my Air-Force and Army for 20-30 turns and get close to the Huns b4 I'll be able to attack them. Or should encourage both of them to attack Germany (which makes the Huns stronger likely). Or bribe Huns and Roman to attack each other and when they are totally eroded I'll attack the east. Frankly there is more role-playing and options in Civilization than any RPG. Change my mind.

Another update for the FPS Challenge.
Right now I'm on Wolfenstein The New Colossus, and the challenge is almost at an end.
But before that I completed Bioshock 2, Bioshock 2's DLC entitled Minerva's Den. Bioshock Infinite+DLC - followed by Wolfenstein The Old Blood, and Wolfenstein The New Order.
I'll keep this post short, as it seemed nobody read the last one - probably due to it's length.
What an extraordinary game Bioshock Infinite is. It received very mixed reviews, and tended to divide gamers into 'loathe or love' camps. There's all kinds of problems with it, because it is a modern shooter, and upholds the modern conventions that so many of us hate: checkpoint save system, two weapon limit. I should hate it.
Yet... yet.... I find it utterly compelling. The story and environment sucks me in, and it's one of those games I literally live through every second. The story is convoluted and strange, making little sense in some respects, but it's never dull. The games' setpieces are simply staggering.
Wolfenstein The New Order is in a similar vein, save that it has somehow managed the impossible feat of combining the best aspects of new school shooters with the best of old school, creating a game of legendary status as far as I'm concerned.
If you only ever play one shooter in your life, make it Wolfenstein The New Order. Along with Half Life 2, it's one of those few FPS games that caused me to actually care about the characters, and experience real emotions and concerns for their fate. Like Bioshock Infinite the game's various set pieces are are full of pure 'gawp factor'. The actual shooting mechanics are also incredibly well executed - glassy-smooth, pinpoint accurate with weapons that feel very, very weighty and punchy.... oh and all can be duel wielded.

Still in Maple Story. I got my Demon Slayer to lvl 204. Leveling speed dropped a lot, but am I surprised? Not really, since she was Tera Burning event character which got 3 levels instead of one, so I pretty much breezed to 200. Now it slowed down... and I actually like it. I remember never feeling that leveling was too slow even when I first played, so now I don't see a problem. Plus I can actually catch up with some quests that I outleveled in an instant. Main quest atm? Beating the main bad guy/former boss. I like that it's not simple boss fight, but actual cumulative effort of all players. So no "bruh, I can solo you now even though whole Alliance was created against you". So when I'm done with dealing my daily dose of damage to him, I'm focusing on event dailies and bosses. I'm thinking about leveling some other characters, at least to level 60, to unlock Legion content. It unlocks once you have cumulative level 500 on account, and with Demon being 204 and having special character Zero starting right at 100, I "only" need 200. That's 3 chars with a bit over 60 levels. I already started leveling Phantom and it's painful after playing Demon that can do this. I'm also still wondering if I should play male or female Phantom. I prefer playing female characters, but in Phantom's case, I feel like I should play male, with him canonically being a guy, having love affair with previous Empress and being portrayed as guy in one of blockbusters. I mean, Demon is also portrayed as male in the same blockbuster, but at least their story adjusts to gender choice with custom movie cutscenes and our henchman being opposing gender Demon's (main reason - Mastema is in love with Demon). Phantom, and many other classes, weren't that lucky.

Trying out the God Eater 3 demo that is available from the 11th - 13th.
Haven't been able to kill the 8-player boss encounter yet, which maybe partly due to it ripping apart our group of attractive anime monster hunters or the 5 minute timer.
Gotta blame the timer.
