Eager to play an AC game again, really worried about what will be delivered. Hope we get some detail sooner rather than later.

Eager to play an AC game again, really worried about what will be delivered. Hope we get some detail sooner rather than later. I hope it's a good one. IIRC, it is by the same studio that made Odyssey. AC: Valhalla was announced on Apr. 29/30th for a Nov release the same year, so we'll see if they do something similar again this time.

I've been gone for some months. I know I had just started Mirage. I did finish it. It was "meh". I struggled with the combat more than in any other AC ever *ever*. I hated tbh. I did finally "get" it. It was boring. Not much like I remember the older games being like it was claimed it was going to be. The story was ...okay. Basim was pretty darn boring. His master was more interesting than him. I guessed the twist but not long before it happened, so it almost had me, lol. I still think the graphics looked bad. If it weren't such a pain to post pictures here I would post comparisons of the 3 games before to Mirage the potato faced Basim. Anyways it wasn't horrible. It was just not to my liking, I found it incredibly boring and clunky and uninstalled it soon as I finished it, lol. Not much interest in new games at this point. We'll see. Hope everyone is doing great and now I'm gonna hop over to my hype thread DD2!

I won't say that I don't have interest in future AC games myself, but I am going to be waiting for a bit before purchasing especially since at least with PC the games generally go on sale in a few months. I don't find they are worth making an unknown purchase at full price based on my experience, but I am not a typical player either for I still enjoy playing Syndicate.

Syndicate was the only AC game I only played once. It wasn't that I hated the game but an accumulation of small issues and dislikes. Didn't like Jacob, didn't like the trin, didn't like those NPC's that would jump out of bushes etc. and scare the hell out of you, didn't like all the clones, wasn't a fan of the crime investigation stuff or the repetitive factory missions. For me the game had massive LoS issues in regard to stealth and being seen through things, and being shot through things. Other than that Evie was great and I liked the WW1 DLC and the Victorian London setting.

Jumped back into AC3. This game has the longest prologue of any game I've ever played, and it's mostly a tutorial. I'm gonna try to stick with it but jesus christ it's been tedious for the first 4 hours.

I found Jacob and Evie to be fun characters. Both flawed. Both grew. I liked them both very much and to me the gameplay was fun. Except the carriages. F those things!
I still have some hope they will make an AC I'll enjoy again. I loved Origins and Odyssey but Valhalla was just not for me. At all. So, fingers crossed for all of us!

DETAILS ON ASSASSIN’S CREED RED’S ENGINE, BASE BUILDING, COMBAT, AND MOREinsider-gaming.com/assassins-creed-red-exclusive-details/... the Assassin’s Creed franchise as a whole isn’t moving to a new engine necessarily, but will be using a substantial evolution of it named the ‘Anvil Pipeline’. Sources explained that the Anvil Pipeline allows all of the various Assassin’s Creed studios (of which there are many) to work from one unified branch, rather than having different versions and branches. The most means that moving forward, Assassin’s Creed will benefit visually from the lines of ray-traced global illumination and virtual geometry. The move to the Anvil Pipeline has meant that the teams have had to completely overhaul everything in the series, too, including animations, its parkour system, dynamic weather, and more. Combat in Assassin’s Creed Red was described to me as being somewhat similar to Valhalla, but featuring a lot more gore, including blood, and decapitations. Stealth also plays a major role in Red, somewhat akin to Splinter Cell, the player can extinguish torches, hide in tall grass and bushes, and even go prone whenever they please. Footage provided to Insider Gaming under the condition that the footage does not go public also showed a major evolution to the Valhalla Settlement feature. In Red, players will be able to build their settlement in a big way named the ‘Hideout’. The Hideout is where the player will be able to build, at their own will, the likes of an armory, dojo, alter, and more. These buildings are customizable, too, from being able to pick the building location, to being able to choose your roof design to the interior layout and where you can display the likes of your weapons and armor can be displayed.

Just what I have always wanted in my AC games. Stealth why is that like Splinter Cell, when other than the Prone thing we used to be able to do that in nearly all the older games back to AC3 I think!!!!! My point being why the likening to Splinter Cell when they could have said like previous AC games except you can go prone and again I don't really care. I am hopeful for this game but really am wondering if Ubi has completely lost the plot re AC. AC Origins was a good evolution from the old games, I personally loved the further evolution in Odyssey but Valhalla seemed a step backwards. Eivor's character was not as engaging, the maps were dull in most parts, stealth seemed less enjoyable and the story was pretty MEH, all just my opinion of course I know others really liked it.

It seems Ubisoft wants to take the Assassin's Creed franchise in a direction that I am not interested in and there isn't anything wrong with that, but it does seems like for me every game is going to be a wait and see approach to know if there is anything that is part of the game that interests me instead of just knowing it will be something for me. In a lot of ways it is similar to Final Fantasy for me except there hasn't been anything that has sold me on a Final Fantasy game since XII.

saandrig had a bit of a run around in ACOD in Makedonia, fought some animals, fought some bandits and Spartans and took down a fort mostly by stealth. I'd upped the difficulty so my assassinations were not always a critical, so some stabbing had to be done as well. Forgot until I used it that Rush Assassination was stacked and is insta kill. Fire was used to help take down some high level "malakas" including a Mercenary who crossed Kass's path. The game looks beautiful, I adjusted the resolution scaling in game to 120% but it didn't seem to make much difference. Not sure if I'll play anymore but 1ill try pumping that up some more. Am I better off doing it in NVCP? Pic's The adorable Kass, light was bad at this time of day Scenery

Checking in. I've given up on playing the games in a certain order. At this point, I'm letting my curiosity regarding the unknown drive me. Since I last posted here, I've beaten Revelations, Syndicate, and Mirage. And I got Mirage in a discounted bundle with Valhalla, so now I have that even though I wasn't initially interested.
I'll summarize very briefly here even in comparison to my older posts, because I'm downloading Valhalla right now and I intend to do lengthier write-ups later, anyway:
- Revelations might have the best narrative so far. However, Black Flag and Mirage's narratives appeal to me more in theory. Those two narratives miss the mark in different ways: With Black Flag, as I already discussed, the story loses focuses and becomes choppy and generic in the second half. With Mirage, I quite enjoyed the beginning and ending chapters of the game, but the mid-game (Order of the Ancients sub-plots) was anemic and seemed too isolated from the protagonist-centered part of the story up until the end. - Syndicate is currently at the top for stealth gameplay and non-vehicular side content out of the games I've beaten (Black Flag, Revelations, 3, Rogue, Mirage, Syndicate). Even though the others are comparable or better in at least some ways, I found that the layouts of many areas and the nature of the tasks in Syndicate made for the most consistently fun experience. - Revelations' boring overworld and lack of side content hurt it. Ditto with Mirage to a lesser extent (Mirage has the contracts). Mirage's world needed more to it, especially outside the city walls. One thing that annoyed me about Revelations (and by extension all the other games in the series with non-regenerating enemy areas) was that it was impossible to reset the Templar Dens. There are some obvious reasons for this considering the recruit system. Regardless, even being able to temporarily reset them and have them revert back to the way they were before (having the associated recruit return) would've increased replay value. I'm unsure if any of the city outposts in Mirage regenerate. I'll go back to it or look it up in the morning. - I want to give Black Flag a replay in the future, so as to see how it flows when the side content is spread evenly throughout the game (not completing most of the assassinations and Templar hunts in the first half of the game, for example) - I tried out Origins and love it so far. I was skeptical about the gameplay at first, but the videos I watched on Youtube didn't always give the best impression, on top of me being unfamiliar with the game and simply having to use my imagination to interpret how the game would play from those videos. Right now it's on the backburner, though. - Odyssey is an ongoing background project. I've lost interest in it for now. - I'm a fan of Basim, which is part of why I'm jumping into Valhalla right now. I get to interact with him in reverse order compared to much of the fanbase. I also saw some Valhalla content that slightly turned me on to it.

EARLY DETAILS ON ASSASSIN’S CREED HEXEinsider-gaming.com/assassins-creed-hexe-early-details/Insider Gaming understands that the game is still in a relatively early stage of development and is expected to be released in 2026 on the Infinity platform. Hexe is understood to be a more linear experience compared to its predecessors with some elements of open-world exploration, somewhat akin to some of the earlier Assassin’s Creed games. As already reported by Insider Gaming, Hexe is poised to have a single female protagonist, currently named Elsa, who has some supernatural abilities. While details on all of her abilities are unclear, footage sent to Insider Gaming under the condition that it not go public shows off one of these abilities. In the footage, Elsa is seemingly being hunted by 16th-century German soldiers (image of what the soldiers look like here) and uses a spell to possess a nearby cat. The player then controls the cat and uses it to distract the soldiers by knocking over a glass bottle, which smashes on the ground and diverts the soldier’s attention. The gameplay provided to Insider Gaming depicts a dark and gloomy setting in the cobbled streets of the city. Sources also outlined that the plan is to have Fear System in the game inspired by the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate ‘Jack The Ripper’ DLC. While the exact details of the system are unknown, it isn’t difficult to see how this system, or at least a version of it, can be easily implemented into Hexe. The 16th-century Witch Trials saw up to 80,000 suspected witches executed between 1500 and 1660, so some form of fear system makes sense for the setting.

I don't 100% remember the Jack the Ripper Fear thing but I do remember it being a bit of a pain in the butt. If that is going to be a big element of the game and the overall vibe of the game then not sure it'll be a yes for me.

Fear of witch's magic?

Fear of witch's magic? Maybe??? Did you play the Jack the Ripper DLC? As I said I cannot remember exactly what the fear system in that did but I just remember it was annoying, maybe it stopped you being able to attack?? So googled it: Basically Evie and I think Jack used Fear Bombs to frighten an enemy and I think to kill/damage Jack he had to be in that state but it is a lot of years ago I played it.

Yeah, that was one DLC I didn't have. Though I've heard you couldn't kill Jack if you tried to take him head-on, but you could stealth-attack him (I guess in addition to the bombs).

Yeah it was a pain in the butt that fight. I liked the DLC though as it was something very different. Syndicate is one of the only AC games I have only played once as was Valhalla.

Honestly this game isn't even about assassins and templars anymore. Just make a new franchise already. More superpowers? I'm over it. I believe this game might end up being a hard pass for me, I'll be a fuddy duddy and stick with the older games. Also the fear mechanic in the jack the ripper dlc was lame and annoying
Aside from that I hope everyone is doing well!
