First of all I don't know which forum it would be appropriate to post this so I am posting it here. Over the last decade these two franchises have defined modern bioware and it is fascinating to compare and contrast these two franchises as I feel they have intersecting fanbases but not the same fanbases. Both have striking similarities but also vast differences and I am wondering what the overall perception bioware fans have in general of these two franchises and how they compare and contrast with each other. I chose both equally, partly because I love both genre's and styles of play.. I put over 3000 hours into both me3 and dai, I have over a 50 playthrough's of each of the preceding games as well (because I like to explore each option including different storyline options) they both appeal to some part of me in different ways and I hope both the dai and the me universes continue in the future in new and interesting ways (be that playing further back in history or playing through new exciting futures) hell I would even enjoy a new game set as a side story to the MET or playing through historic portions of it.... thing is we know the protheans were on earth and kidnaped humans, did a few of them help them fight against the reapers as conscripts or something ? how were the wardens formed what was it like to fight with griffins etc etc lots and lots of stuff to explore and a lot of it would be really friggin cool XD

To elaborate on what I said on the first page.
I actually really loved the first Mass Effect for its world building. But over time it seems like less care is taken with its lore. Frankly, there's a lot of blatant "rule of cool" decisions made in subsequent that could be fun, don't get me wrong, but kinda make ME feel a little weaker as a setting. Some of that has happened in Dragon Age, but overall I feel they've done a better job with it. I also just tend to like the characters better.
Though of course there are some Dragon Age characters that fall flat and some Mass Effect characters I adore.
It also helps that I find one of the best parts of an RPG is developing a sense of who my character is, which Dragon Age let's me do more because it changes protagonists each time. There also tends to be a bit less personality railroading. I developed a solid attachment to my Shepard over the years, but I never felt less connected to a Bioware protagonist than Ryder.

More Mass Effect. I like playing games where I can shape my own character, but "high fantasy" with sorcerers and monsters is pretty far down my list of preferred settings, and the only trade-off is that the NPCs in DA:O are probably a little better developed than those in Mass Effect. But I can play Shepard or Ryder at least as closely to my ideal type of character as I can with the Warden, Hawke, or the Inquisitor, plus I have somewhat limited time for gaming and the Dragon Age games just take a lot longer (well, maybe not compared to Andromeda but certainly compared to ME1-3). I've only played the Witcher trilogy twice and the Dragon Age games once, and lack of time and the limited appeal of the fantasy settings for me are two of the biggest reasons.

I only really got into ME recently. I'd say I love them both, but DA is my one true love.

I've put ALOT more time into the Mass Effect series simply due to ME3's multiplayer, but Dragon Age: Origins IMO is the last great BioWARE title so idk.
However, at this point i'm equally uninterested in both since BioWARE has gone to absolute shit.

Played all of them but I'm on a rather sci-fi then fantasy boat too. Also like shooters more then button spamming skills.
Not to say DA Origins isn't awesome. I've played that through so many times, next ones only played once but all ME trilogy games have even more hours on them. So both but ME more.

Only Mass Effect. I've toyed with the idea of trying out DA but the combat doesn't seem like it'd suit me.

Thats what I thought when I first played DA, but the combat is better than ME in my opinion, especially DA2 I think DA (from what ive seen) has the smaller but better fanbase (sorry mass effect!)

I thought same about ME, first shooter I played, but I pretty much found game I love out of it- DA. There is differences, but the feel of the both including story, characters, romances and dialogues is just same to me and I ended up liking ME a bit more. But just a little.

More of Mass Effect for me, but only because DAII didn't make me stick around for Inquisition (not that I would've stuck for DA:I though, probably, from what I heard of Inquisition's lifelessness). Mass Effect managed to strike gold with ME2 being coincidentally brilliant enough that I fell in love with their characters for an entire trilogy. Dragon Age merely lasted one game for me, one which I still didn't really enjoyed its combat over Mass Effect, being more of a first-person shooter myself than an old-school RPG gamer (never liked the isometric format either).
That doesn't mean Origins is far behind in terms of its appeal for me, of course. Currently replaying it again. Mass Effect holds a special place in my heart, but with Origins, there's always something new to discover, especially with the different origins I've yet to tried out. Many roleplaying opportunities await.

As they are two different "universes" Its hard to pick however I would say Mass Effect , but saying that ME: Andromeda has similar game mechanics to DA:I ..
