My day was saved from being a bust by my city's power network management. A power distributor went up in flames and we had a blackout in my district, but it wasn't 90 minutes before it was repaired. Thanks to the technicians who did it! Things like this are what distinguishes us from less developed countries, and I wish more people appreciated that instead of taking it for granted.

Got a terrible diagnosis today, and here I was really hoping this year would be less horrible than the last, health-wise.
Well, guess I have to gear up for another hard, long fight.

THE HELL IS GOING ON!?
Spent hours on shopping for a new stationary exercise bike but I cannot find one for 400 bucks or under that suits my needs. ALL the bikes in this price range - and some of the more expensive ones too- are designed for people with a body height of 180cm or shorter and with a bodyweight of 110-120kg. If I bought one of those I'd really have to hunch down on it and I'd eventually end up crushing it. Not to mention they all have wheel weights of 12kg and below, but to properly simulate climbing inclines and going fast on straights you need at least a wheel weight of 14kg.
What kind of weirdo smurf asshole came up with those design specs?

Not bad. Back to NYC for the weekend. Got to finish up my move upstate. I'll get to see some friends tonight. Despite my first intensive workout last night, I only have moderate discomfort in my arms.

Crushed a nerve in my neck while I was doing 150kg bench press repetitions, in the last repetition my form deteriorated which allowed the bones in my neck to shift and pinch a nerve - I nearly dropped the weight onto my face when it happened. The squished nerve lead to a nasty headache so bad I nearly puked, and it lasted for half a day. But I'm all good now.
On the upside, the 150kg went up like it was made of thin air, I heavily improved my upper body strength lately, especially pressing movements.

That said, congrats on the new record.

Thanks. Its not really a record though as I was doing multiple repetitions per set and not a one repetition maximum weight, but I have become significantly stronger and could have blasted my one rep max easily. But single rep max lifts should be done very rarely as they dramatically increase the injury potential and do not benefit training in any way. I've been exercising for such a long time now and know how my own body operates so well that I always do my own rehab programs for injuries, and my success rate is 100%. One thing you really have to learn when you want to do high intensity sports is to get to know your own body and how to treat and overcome injuries yourself, ''in the field''.

My thread Its still alliiiveee. My day has been good I decided I had played enough of the Anthem demo to get an accurate impression so I didnt play it. We watched Mission Impossible: Fallout... the thing is, Im not usually someone who enjoys action movies. They are all kinda... the same? The protagonists are literally all interchangable. So that's a thing. But I actually really enjoyed Fallout, even though I think Henry Cavill is a really creepy guy. It was a well-made movie, and I felt like the writer/director understood the idea of a fight sequence and made them well-written, not just boom, punch, kick, grapple, boom. It definitely took me by surprize. Im pretty sure Ive seen most Mission Impossible movies... I think most suck, with the exception of 2 maybe, but I enjoyed it. I also made a lemon cake, because nom.

First day of this new year that I am not sick, so I guess it has been a good day, right? Plus, I've finally found my glasses, so I can play/read without getting a headache!

pretty good day today. I picked up a new tabletop rule set intro pack. From what I'm reading, its good for experienced RPG players/dm's. But not so great for new players, as the rules aren't perfect. Experienced players will work around this, but the new players might get stuck or frustrated and just quit the series.
I'm looking forward to trying it out one day. It may not be happening in the near future, but its the starter set. So it should have everything I need, should I ever find a group that wants to play it.

Yesterday: Productive-ish.
Projects at the house have been a priority of late, especially as I have not been busy enough with work this new year, and am going a little stir crazy. I stained the "other side" of a piece of plywood I have cut and bored out dowel holes - the MDF board that was the side of my wife's old Singer sewing machine table ripped out when she and a friend moved it improperly. So, in a couple days I can apply some poly and then install it, should be good as new. The oak plywood took the stain well, it is a pretty close match color wise.
I also picked up a piece of stainless steel I had ordered from a local metal shop, to install in my kitchen above the new range and under the new range hood, as a backsplash. The company wanted very specific measurements down to 1/64 of an inch, which I provided.
I went to install it, and while it fit the space there was something "off" about it. Specifically, one corner wasn't matching well at all. So I pulled it out and looked closer at it, and I noticed things askew. Pulled out my speed square and... I got a parallelogram, not a rectangle. Something got out of calibration with their machine, and they don't have a Turian on staff so...
Today I return the parallelogram in exchange for a rectangle, which I will glue to the wall and that will complete the kitchen revamp. I then need to miter some crown molding for the master bedroom, that I never got around to during the master bath reno which included moving the wall between bath and bed (thus the need for new crown). Need to knock that out, because we have new carpet getting installed next Friday in the master. I destroyed the carpet in the process of the bathroom renovation, so this will be a nice treat.
Now I need to get my ass in gear and find a way to pay for all this!

Going great. My online friend is coming to my state to live and I'm interested in the possibility of becoming more than friends. I've been holding off on the idea because I didn't want to turn him into a rebound, but the more time passed the more I feel that my feelings are becoming more legit.

Little update, not that anyone should care, but hey Soo, I've lost one of my jobs (boss said they could manage without me, for the moment and that they may need me in the future. LOL). And I had to move to my parents' home, fact that kind of sucks, to be honest.

Thanks. Sure! I was a maid at this family's home; take care of the kid, clean, cook, and stuff. Not the greatest job, but I had been working there for almost 6 years.

Today I felt tired and really down, partly because of my not so good health situation, bad mood (duh) and tight work schedule lately, but did bench presses anyway. I'm happy to report that I went up to 150kg / 330lbs and that weight went up so easily I double checked the plates, I think I could have done a new personal best like 168kg / 370lbs quite easily today. I was a total beast in presses, even my working sets with 5-8 repetitions was 5kg heavier than usual and it still felt easy. Heck, my eyes haven't even gotten bloodshot today, thats how easy even the heavy presses were! As my frustration grows so does my strength!

Yesterday I had a stupid amount of calls.
One of them was a fire call. Tuesday is the day I'm an EMT. So I had to sit back and watch everyone else get dirty while I got to... Make sure people coming out of the building were ready to go back in.
But like I joked with a few of them, "You want me being bored and looking for things to do. If I'm busy, something's really wrong."
I got to get geared up for the last fire, so I'm trying not be too salty.
...I realize this sounds a bit callous, so yes, I do know if I have to get off my butt during my weekend, someone is having a significantly worse day than I am. And I love being able to help out and make said bad day less terrible than it might be if I wasn't there. I may bitch and moan, but being a volunteer first responder has made my life better in every way.
Which I'm going to remember as people drone on for two hours during the meeting tonight.
