They're not going to tell you that homosexual content is a secondary priority even though it most certainly is, they're going to tell you that it's super awesome and the best thing to ever happen... when did skepticism die? You're very correct of course, but you're giving way too much power to EA. The development of the details of the content is still up to the game developer (BioWare). EA is not in charge of that. BioWare games have ALWAYS been heavy on the relationships. This is not an EA decision. They were like this before joining EA. Same-sex romances are an extension of the importance of character-player relationships. There being m/m content is definitely a result of the company's culture and goals (David Gaider for example). There's no need to make it all about the money, although it's also obvious that this happily coincides with financial goals. Having LGBT content is of course, a very important and recognized draw to BioWare games. ---- Putting that aside, I also think that many people really don't think about context when discussing developer choices. For example, why are there no m/m squadmate? It's pretty obvious this is a consequence of there are only 6 squad members this time around. The two "leads" (Liam/Cora) are going to be straight or bisexual because most players are straight and like humans. The rest are aliens, and making a gay alien squadmate is just too niche. At best, they are omnisexual. Perhaps if we had more squad mates, we may have had one. In fact, I'm sure we would have had one. With 6 however, and with the cast of aliens, it's just not feasible. They could have just as easily not even have implemented any significant m/m content at all. We're lucky that having important crew members coincides with their desire to include a gay character. Everyone wins this way, and I am certain that BioWare did their best to deliver.

So, everybody, here's a questionnaire: 1. First off, what are your thoughts on Gil so far? 2. It's said he came to Andromeda to find a purpose. What do you think that purpose might be? 3. What do you hope that purpose might be? 4. Gil's an engineer, but do you think he's multidisciplinary like Suvi is with the sciences or is mostly just the mechanical/aerospace kind of guy? 5. From what you know about him so far, what do you think his hobbies are? 6. How do you see him getting on with the rest of the people on the Tempest? 7. What are you hoping from his dynamic with Ryder? 8. We know Gil plays cards, so what's your favorite card game? 9. If you're not romancing him that playthrough, who would you pair him up with? 10. If he were a kind of car, what kind of car do you think Gil would be? 11. Finally, are there any characters Gil reminds you of? 1. Love his look. Love his voice. Love his attitude. Very optimistic. Hope I'm not let down. 2. Not sure. Probably finding his place in the world. We don't know much about him. 3. Finding love 4. Engineer is already a multidisciplinary field in itself. He probably practices mechanical engineering, aero/astro engineering, material sciences engineering, computer engineering, and electrical engineering given what we've seen about him. 5. Gambling. Board Games. 6. Gets along well. The chill guy in the corner who goes with the flow. 7. Fellow nerdship. Passionate romance. 8. Board games like Settlers of Catan 9. Liam lel 10. Porsche 11. Lebanese men

Yeah, I have no problem with either position though I prefer my characters to be bottoms. I think they could work with a cleverly directed missionary position sex scene though, if they wanted it to be ambiguous. Yeah true. Just have it frame the top half of their bodies. It can either be missionary or cowboy

I had a nightmare that Kallo turned out to the m/m romance. Was it you that made the whole post about the burgers and there being a difference between '' this burger doesn't suit my taste '' and '' this burger tastes like shit. '' ? Kallo romance would be amazing, though. :c Sure an alien doesn't suit my taste so one being the only romance option is a personal nightmare for me. I didn't say it wouldn't be great for people who like that sort of thing. Saw some cute romance fanarts in his thread.

Wouldn't the inclusion of thrusting in an m/m scene basically assume that someone is a pitcher or catcher though Not that I would care. My Scott is vers after all.

Don't worry, they would not show "hip gyrations" for m/m content. Especially the mass effect team. As a sidenote, whoever came up with "hip gyrations" really needs to grow up lol... Watching Penn & Teller's BS, the "bad" words episode would be a good start for that too... Why wouldn't they lol... Kaidan's scene in ME3 was pretty hot.

I love the KISA trope tbh. There's a reason I thought Cassandra's romance was the best.
I just wish I didn't have to be straight or a woman to have one.

There is another post that says they plan on adding it to the game later on hopefully it's free dlc or a really cheap price Free DLC, from EA? I think we can all keep dreaming. Probably will be an alternate appearance pack like the others in previous games if not available in the base game via patch or freeLC.

AGAIN, they didn't say you can't pick between armor sets, just that you can't customize them. They didn't say you can't mod the weapons, just that you can't choose them. Ian's later tweets mention that companions do not have alternate armours. That doesn't seem very ambiguous. *shrug* Wasn't in the OP.

Umm... you could change the guns in ME3, by modding or switching to a different one. You just couldn't change the types carried. That's what I meant.

It was far more than 2 armor sets in ME3. (And with DLC it was more in ME2). Like I get it doesn't bother you that's great. Please stop trying to tell me what should bother me. Not to mention in ME3 you could mod their weapons as much as you could Shepard's. Not the type of course but you couldn't do that for Shepard either in ME2 (and doing that in ME1 was an exercise in rage considering the accuracy and sway if you didn't have levels in pistol/whatever) since each class had it's own loadout). K you can stop with the opinion disclaimers. I get that it's your opinion. I'm having an opinion on your opinion. This is a forum not a blog. AGAIN, they didn't say you can't pick between armor sets, just that you can't customize them. They didn't say you can't mod the weapons, just that you can't choose them. You could not modify armors in ME2 and ME3, and you could not change their gun loadout in ME2 and ME3. What he said is consistent with past design patterns.

I'm reaching by comparing it to other games int he series? Look if it doesn't bother that's fair enough but there's no need to try to pretend what was in past games weren't there or trying to pretend people were acting like it was Inquisition level. Yea you're reaching by blowing this "change" out of proportion. You could have a choice between two armor sets in ME2 and ME3. In ME2 you could theoretically pick their weapon, but the way weapons worked, most were just upgrades of one another. In ME3 you could mod their weapons a bit. --- If you actually read the tweet, it doesn't say there isn't a choice of armor sets, just that you can't customize those armor sets. It doesn't say that you can't mod guns, just that you can't choose their guns. Perhaps you can modify the armor they wear through different patterns and colorings, and it's more likely than not that you'll be able to equip them with weapon mods even if you can't modify their weapons. Like seriously we have no idea what other systems they have implemented just yet. I don't get the jumping to conclusions based on a one sentence response on twitter by a dev who probably didn't give it that much thought.

Er guys we haven't been able to change their armor and weapons for a while now lol... since ME2 I believe. What makes this a surprise exactly? You can change styles in ME2 between default and loyalty + DLC armors and the squad in ME3 had multiple looks, armored looks included, at default with ME3 on top of a handful of DLC armors. And you could change squad weapons. Certain weapons were restricted by class and type, but if I wanted Ashley to use the Disciple over the Katana, I could make it happen. K stop reaching. Point is it was never in the same scope as Dragon Age customization. At best we could mod their weapons a bit. In MEA we'll have more options for customization elsewhere so trying to argue out of context is illogical. Also that tweet is probably being taken out of context. There's a difference between customizing someone's armor set and unlocking different armor sets / colors schemes. In fact there was a tweet about having a team all in pink outfits or whatever.

You had a choice between armors (It might've only been 2 but there was a choice) in ME2 and you could always change weapons (within the types they used yes but there were multiple weapons to choose from). Well you have to go back to ME2 and even then we had two choices. Big deal. I forgot about the weapon customization (mods) in ME3 though.
