It's 2017, not 2002. Anybody who uses the word "metrosexual" should have their opinion immediately disregarded. What term has replaced "metrosexual"? I'm not up to date anymore. (I really am not, you hipster kids are all weird to me anyway.) No term that I know of, thankfully. It was a silly idea in the first place.

I've only listened to the first track, but I liked that one a lot. Nothing will ever beat ME1's soundtrack, though.

Yeah, games are just weird that way, I guess. Somewhere along the line, it was decided purple was an indicator of quality. Only really holds true if you're a small man from Minneapolis, but that's what we're hardwired to believe now. I blame WOW.

No offense, but if the "guy" is one of your favorite reviewers... you really shouldn't be judging the writing quality in ME:A. This "guy's" writing of his own reivew script is a real mess and his voice delivery sucks waaay more than the voice acting he's so adamently criticizing in the game. I had never seen one of his reviews before this one (therefore, I was completely unbiased)... but as a result of trying to watch this incoherent diabtribe, I won't be watching any more of his reviews in the future. Here's one of the comments on that video: "The characters all look like hipsters, metrosexuals and 3rd year gender studies students." That's similar to my early impressions. It's 2017, not 2002. Anybody who uses the word "metrosexual" should have their opinion immediately disregarded.

I'm curious, all these technical problems people are complaining about, are they exclusive to a specific platform ? Played over 20 missions and extracted 15 times on xbox one and experienced maybe 2 or 3 what I call lag spikes lasting a second in duration. Had 2 host migrations and 2 disconnects while in post game lobby, this in 10 hours of playtime. Overall I had a great time and can't wait for full release. I don't think it's a particular platform. I'm on PC, and I've had a couple of really laggy games (and a few more that weren't). And yet, I watched a twitch stream last night of a guy playing on PC, and he didn't experience a single game that was even remotely laggy.

Almost everything I experienced (aside from well documented issues, mostly of a technical nature) were positive for me. Here's one positive in particular that deserves more highlighting:
- Dialogue later in the game seems to reference dialogue choices you made earlier. I don't know how important this will end up being, but the cases I encountered so far were pretty neat.

Modern games are orders of magnitude more complex than older games. Of course they have more bugs. Should this game be more polished at launch? Perhaps. But comparisons with games from a decade or two ago are insipid at best.

I pre-ordered pretty much coincident with the pre-trial. It's not perfect by any means, but I like it a lot. Will definitely not be canceling the pre-order.

When I started a new game, I chose a "quick start" default Ryder because I thought this was the way to pick one of the two default characters. While this does let you bypass the CC and choose either the default male or female Ryder, it actually does more than this. It prevents you from choosing your starting ability and from choosing Shepard's gender The reason this turned out to be important is that I wanted to play as a vanguard. Charge is one of the skills you can choose from the outset if you click on the customize character button, but if you do pick "quick start", you will have to invest a bunch of points before picking charge. You can still go with the default character if you choose to customize. But if you choose quick start, fewer choices are available to you. I don't see any reason for picking quick start now. I have finished with the story content that is available during the trial. When the full game gets released, I think I'm going to start over so that I can charge/nova all the things from the very beginning! Thanks for the advice. I was planning on doing a custom anyway, but this is good to know for anyone doing the quick start. No problem. It sort of caught me off guard, so I figured it was worth mentioning to others.

hehe if ur playing in insanity level avoid most close combat skills. Playing on normal for now. May jump to insanity on an NG+ or after I git gud at MP. Vanguard is just how I like to play single player mass effect games (since ME2 when they implemented charge anyway). Also, I feel like it's a playstyle that works well with not being able to control companion abilities.

I live on the east coast of the U.S., and I'm also getting lag fairly often. About 20% of my games so far have been unplayable rubber band fests.

I like it a lot. Aside from technical problems, however, I can't help but feel like it lacks some of the polish, unique, and just plain fun aspects of MP3. I can't quite put my finger on what I think is missing, but combat sort of feels like it lacks "heft", if that makes any sense. Still, I do enjoy it and plan on playing a lot more.

Fix the lag - 13 Reduce visual distortion caused by rage - 10 Increase FOV slightly - 10 Double-tap (W, A, S, D) to evade in that direction - 10 Add joyous battlerage growls to Krogan headbutt - 10 *new*
(so we can do this again)

The spoiler free reviews at the top of the board are probably the best place to look. Basically, there are some glaring flaws... apppears unoptimized for PC.... My experience contradicts this bolded bit above. I'm playing on below minimum specs and it looks and runs great.

You do not. I am trying to remember how I finally unequipped the second one, sorry. I think it was a matter of selecting that second weapon, then however you toggle through the available weapons for that slot, you should be able to go the opposite way until it's blank and then "select" that. hover over the one you need remove from the layout, noclickie though, then the option to unequip (was set to V in my case). yay and hooray for such transparent and user friendly UI Thanks. That was bugging me.

No - I haven't seen that error. But I get alot of MP lobbies that either has alot of stutter/Network lag, or causes Host migrations alot. It seems like the Host selecting process is completely random, rather than accounting for Network bandwidth or stability. I presume this has something to do with the relatively small number of people playing the early access?

I don't have the trial but from the footage I've seen most dialogue interactions consist of only two options per selection, which for me is a huge failing of an RPG and not a complaint that seems to be coming up at all from others, so. I'm aware that different TYPES of personality options appear, but there tends to be only two to choose from at any one time. DA:I frequently had more than this (taking into account different personality types, race background, knowledge perks, class background) and that had two voices actors per gender for the Inquisitor. Also, it bears repeating that the character creator is a big step down from DA:I. I'd say around 20% of the time we get four options (rough estimate), which is more than we got from ME3.

One thing I haven't been able to determine as I don't yet have a Krogan character - do they make any noise when headbutting? That headbutt noise in ME3MP was pretty much the most glorious thing ever.

No way I'll rate the game until I'm well past the 10 hour mark, but I'll say that I'm very much enjoying myself so far. I like just about everything except the facial issues and some technical problems I experienced with MP (connectivity/rubber banding). I can't wait to play more!

For the record, the people complaining that you need to get character cards to get skill points are wrong. You get Xp from playing matches, and when you level up you get points that you can dump into your characters skill tree, just like before. There are actual problems with MP (like the rubber band fest that I just experienced) - let's not complain about things that aren't true. You get skill points by leveling up AND with "character" cards. As you can see in one of my former post, I screenshoted my Asari Huntress who is level 1 but also "level X" (card-wise) and I got 23 skill points from the cards (while my Asari is still level 1). In yesterday's stream, BioWare confirmed you get skill points in cards, not only customization options. Watch it; or experience it yourself (bought myself a bunch of Premium Packs and saw it on more than one kit, that's not a bug).
Now we don't know yet if those extra 23 points granted through cards are meant to be used to FULLY level your kit or not (as in every skill tree taken instead of 4 out of 5, like in ME3MP). We need someone to get to level 20 to know that.
I never said you only get skill points by having cards.
Sure, but other people got that impression (or seemed to). I'm just trying to clarify.

A few thoughts after playing for a couple hours (I just got to the Nexus): - I really like all the voice acting so far. Sarah is great, as is Liam. I think I know what my first romance is going to be! - I'm enjoying the squad banter. Lots of snarky commentary - not every joke lands, but enough of them do to make it worthwhile. - As everybody and their mother has pointed out, the facial animations are awful. The eyes in particular are just weird and wrong. I'm sure I'll be able to enjoy the game like this, but I really hope some work is done to improve the faces. - Story seems interesting so far. The pacing has felt a little inconsistent at times, but I'm very early in the game. Now that I'm on the nexus, I hope I have a chance to breathe and a little and take my bearings. After that, I'm really looking forward to finding out what's going on in the Helius cluster. - Combat is fun! The starting weapons suck, but they always suck. I'm looking forward to upgrading gear and diving into the skill system. - The sound design in this game seems really nice. Lots of cool ambient sounds and weapon noises really bring the world to life. - The game runs surprisingly well, especially given that my PC doesn't even meet all the minimum specs (specifically my CPU). Overall, I'm very pleased. I can't wait to play more (and to try MP)! Edit: I should add that I played default Sarah and did not try the CC. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Would you care to tell your CPU, GPU and memory specs? My hardware is also shy on the three.
Thanks.
No problem: CPU: AMD FX 6300 GPU: R9 280 RAM: 16 GB DDR3 Hard drive: Some non-SSD potato So far I've been slowly moving various settings from medium to high (except shadows which I always set to low), and haven't noticed any FPS problems. I also don't explicitly check my FPS, but the game plays and feels smooth to me so far. Also, I'm pleasantly surprised by the load times thus far. They haven't been as long as I expected (though I haven't made it to one of the really large worlds yet either).
