For the record, the people complaining that you need to get character cards to get skill points are wrong. You get Xp from playing matches, and when you level up you get points that you can dump into your characters skill tree, just like before. There are actual problems with MP (like the rubber band fest that I just experienced) - let's not complain about things that aren't true.

A few thoughts after playing for a couple hours (I just got to the Nexus): - I really like all the voice acting so far. Sarah is great, as is Liam. I think I know what my first romance is going to be! - I'm enjoying the squad banter. Lots of snarky commentary - not every joke lands, but enough of them do to make it worthwhile. - As everybody and their mother has pointed out, the facial animations are awful. The eyes in particular are just weird and wrong. I'm sure I'll be able to enjoy the game like this, but I really hope some work is done to improve the faces. - Story seems interesting so far. The pacing has felt a little inconsistent at times, but I'm very early in the game. Now that I'm on the nexus, I hope I have a chance to breathe and a little and take my bearings. After that, I'm really looking forward to finding out what's going on in the Helius cluster. - Combat is fun! The starting weapons suck, but they always suck. I'm looking forward to upgrading gear and diving into the skill system. - The sound design in this game seems really nice. Lots of cool ambient sounds and weapon noises really bring the world to life. - The game runs surprisingly well, especially given that my PC doesn't even meet all the minimum specs (specifically my CPU). Overall, I'm very pleased. I can't wait to play more (and to try MP)! Edit: I should add that I played default Sarah and did not try the CC. Some additional feedback after playing a bit more this morning. - I loved ME3MP, and I hope to love this game's MP as well. However, the one game I played was a complete rubber band fest. Technical problems made it almost impossible to play (though somehow we managed to extract on bronze). I hope these are just early hiccups. I plan to play the hell out of MP if it's in a reasonable shape.

AMD Radeon R9 200 Series Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 8.0 GB Am I in trouble? Do you know your exact GPU model? I have an R9 280, and a CPU that I don't think is as good as yours (AMD FX-6300), and the game runs fine for me on mostly medium settings. I do have 16 GB of RAM, but I doubt that is making a huge difference.

I like Dragon Age II. For me, it's a quirky game that has some major issues, but also a large heart. Still, I know that Dragon Age II is often the target of many jokes and criticisms within the fanbase. I concede that it's probably the "worst" BioWare game. And I'm starting to worry that Andromeda is going to be compared to Dragon Age II. If you're spending your emotional energy worrying that a game you apparently have not yet played will end up being regarded similarly to a different game from several years ago that some other people didn't like but you enjoyed...wait...why are you worrying again?

Noted flaws aside, I've played the game for a couple hours so far, and I really liked it. There's no cause for doom and gloom.

Okay, I've played about 2 hours. Despite the fact that my CPU (FX 6300) is slightly below minimum specs, the game seems to run fine on a mix of mostly medium and high at 1080p (full resolution, not the down sampled version it defaults to). There was a bit of stuttering initially, but I think that was because I started playing before the download was over.
Overall, I would say that the system requirements are very, very conservative.

I have a potentially dumb question: are the ten hours of available playtime counted while in game? Or is it like renting a movie on Amazon and once you start, the clock starts ticking? In game only. It will take me more than 10 hours just to download it!

Are we killing EA's servers? I can usually get ~3-4 MB/sec downloads on Steam or GOG, but I'm getting less than 500 KB/sec right now. Possibly. I've gone down from 7 point something megs to high fours/low fives. Of course, it is dinnertime, and half of my ISP's customers are coming home now to surf, so that may impact it as well. Whatever. I just hit 42%. See you all on the other side! It's somewhat faster for me now, but still much slower than I'm used to. Could be the time of day here as well.

Side note if you pre-ordered a deluxe edition: Click on Learn More to be taken to the store page and make sure you select the deluxe edition you pre-ordered from the list and you should see the trial show up on the right hand side. You seem to have to be viewing the exact version you pre-ordered though, not the default base version the link takes you to. This is the step I was missing. Thanks so much!

They do bother me but its not a dealbreaker. I can still enjoy Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger, and those games have like zero facial animations, aside from couple of sprite emotes. Ehehe even final fantasy XIII has no facial expression and still feel great with their pixel I normally would feel like you about it, who cares? it is just a detail. I retro game a lot and few old title really bothered me. I am still playing final fantasy 6 on my tablet and happy about it. I just for the love of the lord, cannot really deal with this and I feel like something in my head doesn't really let me give a pass on this. It is too damn FUGLY and I am ok with no great beauty in the game, but this person looks just weird. And the lack of facial customization for my hero, for me it is one of the most fun part of the game to design your own hero and it doesn't look good. www.oneangrygamer.net/2017/03/even-mass-effect-andromedas-custom-character-options-are-ugly/26087/Isn't that a custom Ryder who is supposed to be hideous? Seems like an odd thing to be complaining about.

Okay, everyone. Answer from EA Community Manager "Once it goes live (possibly in about 13 hours) you should be able to grab and download it. " "there is/was no trial pre-load. I think the source of the issue may be due to an error that allowed some folks to add the game panel to their library early. This doesn't change when folks could get the trial, but it did lead to a whole lot of (completely understandable) confusion about the whole matter." The bug is that some people managed to grab trial into library, not that it's unavailable now. That's helpful, thanks.

Same problem for me bough the Origin Pass and then pre ordered the game so i have no option to see it, and the game says preloaded available on 17th of March. Im in pain since it will take me 4 to 5 days of downloading. And yeah my Internet is that bad 200kbps download speed baby. The trial disappeared for a lot of users. Firstly try exiting origin completely then reloading it. If it is still not back in your library double check to see you have added it. Open Origin In menu on the left drop down to origin access scroll across go to play first trials go to andromeda and add. When I (and apparently lots of others) try to do this, it just gives us the "get info" option for MEA. Does not offer the option to add the game. Maybe it's a region difference? I'm in the US.

I don't read Forbes articles because of their annoying adblock policies. Would you mind summarizing the salient points? He gives 20 points. I'll just summarize a few of the good and the bad, for you. The good: Story. He likes it. He found himself engrossed. He also liked the combat particularly the ability to jump about and not just rely on cover. He also says "the enemys hit hard" and he died many times in fights so he suggests it's tougher than he expected. He likes the idea that Ryder feels more like an explorer than just a soldier which adds some depth to the overall story. He does not miss "Paragon" or "Renegade" as he feels the current choices offer the chance to get into more shades of gray than the past ones. The load times are pretty quick too and he likes that. Overall he says it "feels like a Mass Effect game." The bad: The Nomad is under-powered. He found Cora and Liam a bit "flat" and is not "wild about them." He does not, like many others, like the facial animations and they have the feel of shop mannequins. The climbing aspect feels wonky to him so far in terms of when you're climbing on terrain. For some bizarre reason the game does not auto-save often nor before big fights so it's best if you save often on your own. The UI is a bit "confusing" and the crafting system is "convoluted." Thanks! That's actually pretty reassuring to me. The cons are (mostly) things I'm not especially concerned about, while the pros are definitely things I care about a lot.
