Did you like ME 1? I'm curious because this one is probably the closest to being what people asked for (not everyone, I know.). You said yourself you are bored with open world games... this probably wasn't ever going to be the game for you since they have said from the start they were giving the focus back to open world exploration unlike the last 2 games. From what I have seen amongst my friends - if you liked the ME1 exploration/driving etc then generally ME:A is what you wanted. If you preferred ME2 and thought it was the best in the series... you hate this one. Personally I'm glad its more explore and less combat (and and whoever said ME1 had more political intrigue... please... this one has far more in terms of clashing factions, uncovering dirty secrets, faction infighting and power plays etc Sometimes I feel like Im playing a totally different game)

LMAO, it took me twenty minutes to figure out how to get back to the galaxy map, and i'm 25 years old. the controls of this game is just not that intuitive. lol . so a hour at 58 im doing ok huh ,,, You're doing fine Took me hours to figure out how to use the powers and I'm 41 (42 this year). In my defence I'm used to the power wheel in the other games. My 64-this-year mother is also playing and probably a little slower than you with figuring things out. Her 10 hour trial got her to the Nexus - which she spent about 4 hours on because she got so horribly lost trying to do the couple of quests there.

I tried to jump onto a rock on Kadaara. The whole world turned upside down The rock became the sky and the ground was the sky... which I promptly "fell" in to. Only real glitch I've had other than jerky arms on npcs in cutscenes. Oh and the autosaves costing me 2 1/2 hours when I got stuck reloading into dieing. I miss manual saves

ME:A > ME3 > ME2 > ME1 ... for me they keep getting better. (Ignoring the ending to ME3)

I played the trilogy again right before this one came out. To me the crew in Andromeda is far LESS whiney and full of issues than any of the crew in all trilogy games. I guess we all have different views but I felt there was a bunch less hand-holding / dragging through personal issues.
Every Bioware game I've played had a bunch of talkies with companions/crew.. that's why I love them - but then I'm not really in it for the combat

25hours in and I couldn't be happier. There are a few problems but they are hugely outweighed by the rest of the game - In all honesty after playing a bit I don't mind the facial animations. Most are top notch. Love the characters and story and honestly can't understand the negative feedback. I'll put it down to personal taste because I personally think the characters are terrific. They are giving me a lot of laughs (in a good way)
Hope they eventually change the few things I hate with a passion.. if they don't it doesn't matter.

Apparently no, but you can find them under the "Extra Content" tab Thank you. Do you know how big it is? I don't have internet connection on PC right now, I may use my phone as a hotspot but not if I have to download 2GB of stuff... The special edition music is a separate download from the other stuff. It's the biggest one so I would suggest making sure you either don't start it.. or cancel it if it starts on it own. Button wasn't grey for me. Hit play and no problems at all.

Years and years ago a movie came out that critics universally loved = I hated every minute of it. Most boring movie I have ever seen. Another movie came out at around the same time and was universally hated by the critics = I loved every minute of it and have watched it again many times over the years.
This feels like the same thing to me lol.
All the hate and I love it. (I do see faults and I do have things I wish were different, but they wont kill the game for me).
Put me in the "Hell no" camp

That's because you don't saw the ending (a guy made a streaming). It's bad. Oh God, IT'S BAD. I watched it. I liked it. /shrug We all have different tastes (and no I most definitely did not like the ME3 ending. I use an ending mod.) As for the rest of the game... I loved the 10 hours I got.. just didn't get very far. But it was awesome up to where I got

*I got stuck to a giant crate on one level and had to reload. Because my mum is an expert at finding places to get stuck (and there are quite a few lol) I tested a few things. Next time you get stuck try powering up a melee attack - it tends to shoot you forward a bit and unstick you

I didn't take Tali groundside much 'cause I thought she'd puke in her suit and then marinate in it because the Normandy didn't have a clean room. All I could think was that everybody was barfing because of my driving. In my case barfing and concussion - my mako spent a lot of time on its roof. Tip = explore Habitat7 well. there is a little cave that (for me) always has a chest with a remnant decryption key - which I think can be used on a monolith thing if you can't figure out the code. I think its the one with a little robot that zooms away when you enter.

Wonder how many of the bad reviews are being influenced by the drama / bad feelings over the trilogy endings. Maybe people just don't like the game? That's always a possibility. It's absolutely possible. Which is why I wonder if it is -one- of the causes. It's also just as possible that a number are just plain shitty at bioware for any number of reasons and want to make them pay. It happens heh (**I was raised a jaded cynic who never trusts anything she reads )

It didn't have a decade old thesis when it released... it was fresh and new... Pretty much like this one is.
I happen to think it rated 8ish maybe 87% - it lost a few points for changes I didn't like. I like the story and funnily enough my mother who could NEVER get into the ME trilogy really loves the game. Not everyone feels the same sense of doom and gloom.
Also while I am still annoyed by the trilogy endings I am not letting anything to do with those games affect how I feel about this one. Wonder how many of the bad reviews are being influenced by the drama / bad feelings over the trilogy endings.

Do you just play slow and read all the codex stuff? I got on Eos 4 hours in hardcore diff after dying a lot. Explore every inch of the maps Click on everything I can and read anything that pops up. Go through all the conversation option with people and all the information on terminals. Didn't read any codex stuff... as yet I think I took between 60 to 80 hours to do each of the original games

Some people got review copies early. Ban for videos post-Eos just lifted. Also, some channels, just plow through the main story ignoring dialogue and sidequests. When I did my EA Access, it took like an hour to explore the Tempest for the first time and talk to everyone. Another hour to explore the Nexus and talk to everyone. You sound like me lol I was on Habitat 7 for at least an hour.. maybe more. I never made it to Eos on the trial (3-4 in the character creator as well lol)

I think it's because it doesn't have a context that fits with things we would see as making our face tired. Usually when we say "My face is tired" its followed up with why.. "Because of all this smiling ..laughing.. crying... yawning.." context. It sounds weird because we dont have the "because" that we can see as a reason for making the muscles in our face tired. I think if she's said something like "My eyes are tired from hours of staring at monitors" it probably would have made more sense. Also I am half asleep so probably not making all that much sense myself

This was an issue for people when FO4 was released. It was worse there because using a non-wide screen monitor literally locked you out of being able to lockpick. Mum still had a 4:3 older monitor at that stage. (5years old.. things just don't have longevity these days lol)She had to get a new monitor to be able to play.. in the end it was a bonus because the one she has now is much bigger and easier to see things with her older eyes. As far as I know Bethesda never changed it (haven't looked recently) and I don't think they have any plans too. Just not worth it to them.
My point is.. Bioware isnt the only developer to go that way. I guess its possible it will be a growing trend as time passes and less and less people use them. Not that it doesn't suck.. but it wouldn't be the first time perfectly working things ceased to be useful because of technology advances.

Wish the trial went longer than 10 hours Didn't make it to Eos so my thoughts are up to going to the nexus. Character Creation - My biggest complaint, sorry Bioware. I spent probably half my trial trying to make a character I liked. I did make a couple I liked only to find out the dadryder made me cringe so I restarted. I finally gave up and went default femRyder. I have to say character creation is a huge step backwards - I had more luck creating characters in ME1 and DAO. I don't understand why you went this route but I will get over it eventually - but I don't think my ryders will ever feel "mine" like my characters in the previous games. Quicksave/Manualsave - Why Bioware? As someone who loves to explore every inch of the map I spend a lot of time doing nothing but walking around reading stuff/staring into the distance. Not being able to save when I want to is horrible. Also as mentioned below becomes a problem when you get stuck in terrain and have to go back in time. Sorry, but this was a horrible horrible decision. Combat/Movement - I REALLY loved the jump jet. A huge plus for adding that It makes general movement around the maps a lot more fun and combat.. much more exciting. Loved being able to hover to get at enemies behind cover. Powers seemed to have a really long cool down? At least longer than the original games. I don't like the removal of the power wheel. I'm not so good at fast action so having the ability to pause and choose my power really made things better for me personally. I will really miss it. Level/World Design - Habitat 7 was awesome. Played through it a few times. The story flowed really well and I loved the little hidden areas I found after a few plays of the planet. Pretty sure I'm still missing things but there is so much to explore just on Habitat 7 - and the views are just.. WOW. Just as an FYI - there are a few places on Habitat 7 where you can get stuck on rocks. My mum found them.. as she usually does.. since you cant manually save it meant going back a fair amount the 2 times she got stuck. General - My mum hasn't been able to play the other ME games much - something about Shep's movement and the lighting gave her horrible motion sickness. I am happy to report that it seems to be fixed with this game. She thinks its because the lighting feels more natural and so far there hasn't been the overload of flickery holograms like the previous ME game. I haven't had any of the horrible bugs some people have had - everything has been very smooth (no stuttering, freezing or audio problems). Only had a couple of minor glitchs in animations (weird shoulder jerking of a couple of npc's during conversations). Overall I love the game and can't wait until I can play more. I will definitely spend a looong time playing this.

Need one more option - "Stare blankly at my PC screen until Thursday". My ten hours is up so now I have to suffer through my mum playing on her PC beside me (she has problems with her hands and can only play for a couple of hours a day). Nothing else is feeling "fun" atm... I am too eager to get into ME:A. I will probably just go all pouty and try to sleep away the time.. or help my daughter with her school work.

Already bought 2 copies, one for myself and one for my mother. Don't regret it a bit. Neither of us have had any of the issues other people have had except some minor jerky shoulders in one scene. The facial animation of only the one "tired faced" character made me laugh a little, but in all honesty the rest haven't bothered me. Actually liked the goofy faces. So, yes, Bioware gets my money... again.

I don't mind Cora's hair.. I had mine cut like that when I was going through my angsty newly-teen years. We are talking late 1980's and a lot of girls my age had similar, so did our mums lol.
The only thing that worries me is the CC...I don't know if I am the only one but I spent countless hours in DA:I making characters look fine in the CC only to find in the first few scenes the hairstyle was cutting into the characters ears. It looked horrible and bugged the hell out of me. I ended up using the same ear covering hairstyle on all my characters. (Only to find out the same happened to the non editable characters like Cass.)
It's not so much a deal breaker for me, I still played DA:I and enjoyed it. But the hair-sprouting ears REALLY grated on me and ruined a lot of the really nice scenes for me.
I sincerely hope its something that doesn't happen in ME:A. Not holding my breath though. I'm also hesitant to mention that I think the best game I have ever seen for hair was definitely TW3. The hairworks and growing beard was amazing.
