If the content doesn't include Jaal, then I doubt we'll know for sure if we're totally shut out of squad romances. Liam is going to be straight. Literally every leak I've seen says he's straight. I will pre-order two copies of Andromeda and eat one if he's not straight. Jaal is still a long shot, but he's the one of the two that's at least got some long-shot leaks saying he's bi. While I do think he will be straight I wouldn't put so much stock in those leaks, they all contradict each other for one thing and Liam also allegedly rejects Sara Ryder as well, so it could be that he is just hesitant to start with as I doubt he will unromancable.

from what i've heard it means people who have review codes can stream the early access parts of the game and talk about those parts too. Soo.. then nothing about Jaal then. I understand he's not in the early access stuff. No clue when Reyes is in the story. Not sure, could be that other people who have played later parts of the game can talk about that too after tomorrow. What I do know is that it's not for full reviews of the game or streaming of later areas.

Apparently the embargo for early streaming lifts tomorrow and so we should be seeing some streams of the early access content from people with review codes which may reveal some romance info for at least some of the squad, or it may not. Tho I won't be watching these streams other than maybe the CC.

Bioware isn't going to say anything about the romances for reasons that make no sense to me. Hopefully those with early access can tell me if he's available to Scott. The sooner I find out, the faster I can get over it (or get excited) and focus on how his friendship with my Ryder will play out. I'll be attempting flirts with him as soon as I get the option to and I'll report my findings. Tho I imagine someone will beat me to it as I'll be spending forever in the CC and won't be able to play til after work anyway. I would rather know the options before hand tho, I know what it's like to be into a straight guy who isn't into me and I don't really want my Scott to go through being shot down. Tho that is probably a little bit silly, i'm sure he'll get over it eventually.

It is going to be interesting finding out if I'll like peebee or not, all the info on her so far makes it seem like she'll either be really annoying or really lovable, or maybe a bit of both. Maybe the third option would be the best.

There are a couple issues being hinted at, I would advise against discussing either of them here though. Some people have very strong feelings on those issues.

I was telling my boyfriend about yesterday's unpleasantness and he was honestly confused on how someone thought that f/f scenes were "male gazey" I showed him Tranyor scenes on YouTube, but he said, "But Lesbians are attracted to women, so wouldn't they be into that? How can you say this isn't directed at them?" So I'm wondering what would be an ideal love/romance scene for people? Not just f/f, but m/m, asexual, and hetero scenes as well. If you're favorite love interest was into your Ryder of choice how would you like the love scene to play out? To be honest, I agree. I think the idea of the male gaze is outdated and ultimately ignores non straight people or makes too many assumptions about them and about media. Anyway to answer your question I liked how Inquisition did it. It was different depending on the context of the relationship and the character, although Iron Bull was a little over the top I guess there are people who are into that kind of thing. I don't like fade to black but then I don't want to watch some long awkward soft core porn scene either. Like I find sex scenes in tv shows awkward if they go on too, long. Those scenes should be part of the progression of the relationship and contribute to the narrative. rather than being like a reward.

In my opinion trying to copy Skyrim was where they went wrong with Inquisition, I don't want Mass Effect to do the same with Fallout 4 seeing as the problems I had with Skyrim were worse in Fallout 4. Learn from the Witcher 3 instead plz.

It's always good to remember that even if you have a legit reason to be upset with a person they are still a person. The people who work at Bioware and EA have feelings and this is something they put a lot of work into and probably care a lot about. Does that mean you can't criticise it? Noooo, criticise as much as you like but if that criticism comes in the form of death threats, or even just angry rants directed at specific people you are probably being an ass and not helping anyone. We have probably all been there to some extent, I mean maybe not death threats but like getting really upset and sending out an angry tweet or something. So it's good to remind yourself of this, these are people on the other side of this and I doubt they wanted to hurt you in any way. They had to realize that gay players would be upset with everyone having a squad romance expect them though. They can't hide behind the 'We didn't realize this would upset people' defense. But yeah, they're people too and deserve to be treated as such. I'm not sure that they would realise that to be honest, maybe some would. They get a lot of praise from lgbt+ people for representing us at all and a lot of criticism from straight people for supposedly pandering to us by doing it. There is probably also a "whatever we do someone will be upset" mentality there which is completely accurate but doesn't mean they shouldn't try anyway. It's hard to say, i've read all kinds of different things from different devs about how important or unimportant this feature is.

I love how you cut out the next part from your quote of my comment where I mentioned that I think it would probably take "ages" to fix all the issues in a game this big. EA owns the company, it is their choice to release a buggy unpolished product and so yes it is their fault. I'm not saying the devs are not also at fault, I do not know. Five years is a long time sure but not every development cycle is the same or comparable. I do not know what time is allotted to what, what resources are allotted to what ect ect. What I do know is EA decides when the game is ready to be released. So again, it is their fault. EA has to make money. It just can't give unlimited time to any developer. I feel Andromeda had time, just like DAI had. I blame EA for ME3 being rushed, but I can't say I'll do the same for MEA. Of course, it's very much possible Andromeda will have a solid launch, at least no worse than other AAA RPGs. All in All, what will ultimately matter the most is how good the game is. And that's certainly up to Bioware. True, five years is a very decent amount of time to make a game. Even a game with this kind of scope. I wasn't trying to say EA is at fault for everything, could have worded it a bit better. Just that they are in charge of the project and ultimately are responsible for it. I'm not saying Bioware can't be criticised for doing a bad job if that was the case. I criticise Bioware all the time and I am not one of those people who thinks EA is responsible for every issue in their games.

It is a shame about reviews though, but that is EA's fault for not giving them enough time to fix bugs and polish No. Mass Effect Andromeda has been in development, in one way or another, for some 5 years. The original release date was last year, which was pushed back some 5 months. Like with Dragon Age Inquisition, any problem MEA have is on Bioware, not EA. I think the issue is more that it's Bioware, a company that is under a lot more scrutiny than other companies. Remember that they moved to doing semi open world type games after the success Skyrim and I am sorry but those kinds of games pretty much always release buggy as hell. I bought skyrim in the first week and two hours in I ran into a bug that made me have to remake my character and start again. Many of the bugs in that game are still in that game unless you play with mods that fix them, but nobody cares because it is expected of Bethesda. Just like the release of Fallout 4 which was even worse, A few people cared but then the worst of it was fixed and everyone forgot. Even the Witcher 3 was apparently quite buggy on release, Inquisition was a mess. This game is just going to release with bugs, hopefully it wont be that bad and if it is hopefully most of them will be patched out soon after release.
It is a shame about reviews though, but that is EA's fault for not giving them enough time to fix bugs and polish (tho I imagine that takes ages for a game this big). Maybe as this is all pre-release footage the final product will not be anything like as bad as what we have seen but I kinda doubt it. If it was so much better I don't think they would have released that gameplay footage. Delaying it forever isn't really an option either, this is still a business, EA has a right to decide how and when it is released.
I think maybe we need to wait and see how quickly the issues in the game are patched, for me that matters more when it comes to games with so much content.

I got 1000 hours on DA:I. I'm starting to hate the game honestly. During my first 200 hours or so, oh my god, Dorian and Iron Bull were the SHIT. I loved them so much. But after 1000 hours... well shit, these guys are pitiful excuses of a romance, booo I'm going to be a strong independent man who needs no man all while fantasizing about Blackwall. Dorian starts to really look like a walking meme more and more with each playthrough. I am able to excuse it only that much. And Bull is just... not my thing, I guess. But tbh nobody in DAI quite suits my tastes. Barris romance sounds nice, but never happened. That's why I'm so hopeful about SAM/Jaal romances. I don't care about appearances with aliens/AI and I like quiet and serious guys. Both of them seem to fit into that simple description. Evilware, pls, don't crush my hopes. I like Dorian and don't mind that he's kinda a stereotype because they aren't really presented negatively at all. His personal quest tho, Daddy issues and conversion therapy? It wasn't even written in any sort of believable way, it was just weird. I thought Iron bull was more of a stereotype tho, Kinda like every negative bisexual stereotype Zevran had but even worse.

Why, yes, it is. Slurpy's arc is a very interesting turn of events. Yep, that's me. I played a gay dating sim with a lot of hot men just to romance a freaking goldfish in my 1st playthrough. The fish stuff is legit disturbing. I also like what happens if you don't come out at all.

I mean I agree with your post about them getting shit no matter what they do, still showing romances in the trailers was their choice. They didn't have to do that but they did. Also why does it not make sense to assume the "dudebro demographic" are a large portion of the playerbase? Fans do not represent the majority of the people who will buy this game, that's pretty obvious. I have no idea what the breakdown is but I imagine the bulk of the sales will not be lesbians. Because it's not broken up into 2 camps--dudebros and lesbians. No, the bulk of the sales won't be lesbians, but does that automatically mean every straight man buying the game has a dudebro mentality? Does that mean every straight male is going to play as Sara so they can jack off to a Cora sex scene? The stats from the ME trilogy shown by BioWare during the Retrospective panel in 2013 showed over 80% of players played as male Shepard. It's not like a vast majority switched genders so they could see FemShep banging Liara. And even those that did play FemShep--can we really say all of THOSE players did it for those reasons? Many romanced others besides Liara or Traynor, because it's a video game--and in this case, one where you can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do. So just going by the statistics of the Mass Effect playerbase, the players who play games from this franchise haven't been switching genders to jack off to lesbian sex scenes. The vast majority of players of BioWare games in general seem to be more concerned with the cast of characters as a whole, and becoming immersed in the amazing stories and worlds rather than just zoning in on the romances. To be fair dudebro is somewhat of a generalisation, I don't actually have a problem with the dudebro crowd personally. Other than the ones who actually are working against the things I enjoy. I really wouldn't be surprised if a lot of femshep/Liara pairings were guys and again I don't take issue with that, it's a fantasy, these are not real people. I'm not making statements about the "majority" of players, but I think straight guys are probably a much bigger demographic for this game than lesbians and I think that is at least part of the reason why we have already seen two options for straight male players in trailers.

Interestingly, that article says more straight women watch lesbian porn than men. But also, I want to reiterate that I never said lesbians aren't fetishized by people or media. What I AM saying is you can't make the assumption that BioWare/EA would be doing that by showing a f/f romance in a trailer, especially when there have been hundreds of posts on here calling for that representation. And out of the millions of people who will be playing this game, to assume that the "dudebro" demographic is anything but a minority doesn't make sense. Especially in a BioWare RPG, no matter how much shooting there is. There's a massive difference between people searching for porn and playing a 60+ hour RPG shooter that might have 2 minutes of a f/f sex scene. Are lesbians fetishized? Yes. Does that prove a massive amount of people buying BioWare games want that content? Clearly not, considering there hasn't been a f/f human squadmate in Mass Effect, and there wasn't a real human lesbian romance until Traynor. I mean I agree with your post about them getting shit no matter what they do, still showing romances in the trailers was their choice. They didn't have to do that but they did. Also why does it not make sense to assume the "dudebro demographic" are a large portion of the playerbase? You would think they would understand that people really like taking their LI with them on missions, especially when they have romance related dialogue during quests.
Like in Inquisition I don't think Cullen and Josephine were really lacking in content but then they worked just as closely with the Inquisitor as the companions did, actually did come along on some of the missions and had missions of their own. Will that be the case for the crew? They do seem to have more involvement to be fair.

Never played Dragon Age. Why was everyone betting on bi-Cullen? In any case, watched both streams. It's nice that both Suvi & Gil (and Kallo) have a lot of comm banter during all missions. I was surprised I didn't hear Lexi a single time during first open-world mission and Liam's loyalty actually. After all this marketing hype, she doesn't seem to be speaking that much. Maybe just not in these missions I didn't want to romance Cullen but having a knight in shining armour type character not be heterosexual would be a first for Dragon Age. From what I remember him being a bi Option was a possibility at some point in development but I could be wrong about that.
