Oswin I feel your pain! And you have my sympathies. Had a similar thing happen except my failure was more of a bent moral compass. There was an honorable duel going on, so I felt compelled to intervene when I spotted potential cheating a foot. The plan was to save Sloane so they could usher out the sniper and do the duel proper. Wanted to smash my head in when I realized how stupid this action was. Then I panicked and shot Reyes in the back. He wasn't to happy about that.
Stewed over whether to reload or not for a whole day. Snuck a peak at how it would have gone, realized the relationship would never have worked due to Ryders paladin attitude, so decided to stick to how it went the first time around. She ended up single in the end. But later trips to Kadara were filled with regret. But one day. There will be a Ryder. Who takes all the flirts. And doesn't shoot him. I panicked and dropped the controller when the option to shoot him came up. I feel like my Ryder missed a great opportunity to drop to her knees and pull off a dramatic "REEEEEYEEEEES!" as he flew away. I may have done it in her stead...
My female Ryder tries to do the best for everyone and as much as I didn't want to save Sloane I have to admit that it works better for her character.
The email I got from Reyes calling me a white knight stung a bit. Oh guys, let me just tell you how much I actually love that scene from narrative point of view, because the way it is presented is a pure emotions vs logic thing. It does an amazing job at switching your perception of who's the villain of this questline. So at the start of the quest we see Sloane being vulnerable and angry and we are supposed to feel sorry for the turian guy who was actually civil and more level headed than Sloane. Sloane even calls you honourable which kinda makes you feel like you can't betray her like everyone else - you're the good guy, right?
Then you have the revelation scene - the evil mastermind, the Charlatan, steps out of shadows, speaks in a menacing voice and shows no regret over, hell, anything ever. He even tells you that he helped you investigate the murders etc only to undermine Sloane's authority if you ask him about it. Now, maybe he's just rubbing it in her face and he actually had some noble reasons after all but still, that hurts, Reyes! And he was lying to you all the time as well and doesn't even try to apologise (in that scene), he's just all smug and happy like a cat in a milk factory. And if that wasn't enough, he tries to fuck with you again by shooting Sloane in the back.
Well, NOT ON MY WATCH, ASSHOLE. (... Okay, not really, I let her die.)
But if you think about it and not act on impulse, how is he a bad guy? From what you can gather, the Charlatan makes regular donations to the local doctor, he helps the angara and lets them join the Collective, fights to free the port.. he's trying to domesticate the adhi for god's sake! Sloane is the real asshole here but boy she really tries to come off as honourable and loyal when she's talking to you. Yet she's not above yelling at Ryder to shoot unarmed Reyes in the back. Yeaaah, moral high ground right here guys. Seriously, I literally spend 2 hours trying to think of a reason for my Ryder to save Sloane (except being mad at Reyes) and I couldn't come up with one.
But that's the difference between them, I guess? Sloane keeps talking about loyalty and how she's pro-angaran and all that jazz while Reyes actually does good things but never takes credit for it. The lesson? Reyes really needs to drop the villain act. It's bad PR and people tend to shoot at you more often.

Hey guys, anyone played both Sara and Scott? Can you tell me how their personalities differ? I realise that most of their dialogue is still the same, but still, I'd like to know but I don't wanna play as Scott, not anytime soon anyway. Thanks :^) Sara has more exploration-connected dialogues, can trully friendship Jaal to dig even more. She's also more emotional and bubbly. Whan I played she had quite a few cocky dialogue lines, is it the same with Scott? Felt a bit different from him, at least in the beginning of the game

Can I ask how exactly is it with Reyes and locking into a romance? I want to romance Jaal in my first playthrough, but Reyes looks hella fine... I don't mind spoilers, so can anybody tell me if I can flirt with Reyes without any strings? Or...? How does it work? Is there some "locking in" point? (I haven't met him yet, but planning to do Kadara as a next planet, so just mulling over my options, really) Thanks very much! yep at the end of his romance arc you can either lock him in or end it, and there's not much content after this point (1 scene and like 3 lines of endgame dialogue). if you end it I suppose you can romance whoever you want although I haven't tested it!

IMO Reyes and Zevran are quite different actually! They give off the same vibe, being shady and Spanish and whatnot but that's about it. Reyes tries to be a smooth latin lover guy but he is a mess, lmao. Just think -- everyone on Kadara either hates him or doesn't think very high of him, his ex tries to kill him and doesn't seem to have any strong feelings about it (like, she's not even mad or jealous, she just thinks he's a piece of shit). ... Which is probably why he was so nervous about what Ryder is gonna think of him.
He is also HORRIBLY bad at hiding that he genuinely likes Ryder. He is quite smooth around them and plays hard to get etc but otherwise he is sooo bad that characters who have never met him in person notice that he likes them ("The Charlatan seems to have a soft spot for you, Pathfinder : )").
Also Zevran was honest and upfront with the Warden from the beginning while Reyes is phisycally uncapable of saying anything that is not evasive or vague.
... Hi, my name is Lera and I like over analysing videogames

He says he has better taste in men. LOL. Maybe they're implying that Zia is a man. This tickles me a bit... Hahaha nah I think it was more like "my taste in women is shit but it's not so bad when it comes to men"

I was wondering for anyone that romanced Reyes with Sara, what does they "About Zia" email say for you? The one for Scott is really gender specific, so I figured the other one must be something totally different. "My taste in women has improved" or something like this. What does Scott get?

Would give me left hand for Omega-ish Kadara DLC, lads. A lot of people have hoped for this in the romance thread over in the spoiler forum. That, or a Citadel style one with a party at the Tartarus with all the cast there, plus romance scenes and stuff. I feel like the chances of Kadara DLC are slim because they'd have to change the story depending on who rules the port. Which means x2 voice acting, different ambient NPCs, different squadmates reactions etc, I doubt bioware would want to spend time on this : ( They've been very lazy with, like, considering differrent player choices and all that lately. Really hope we are not going to get lore-heavy but otherwise kinda dull DLCs like in Inquisition.

I like SAM, actually. Love how matter-of-factly it says stuff like "No, Sara, this won't be fun because your blood will boil and you'll die" and "You might not wanna open that door. It leads to space." I really hope that we will see more character in future games, as SAM learns more from the Pathfinder.

I honestly picked Reyes because I really didn't like Sloane. Don't let this distract you from the fact that Reyes is a smuggler, which is a crime. So in a sense, he is bad, but he isn't malicious or controlling... so not as bad as Sloane. Life on Kadara is made worse by her; she's also an enemy of the Nexus and gives humans a bad rep. because she's so troublesome. Lol so why wouldn't you choose Reyes over Sloane? Plus Reyes is bombbbb. Well he is not "good" either. His motives are ambiguous, so far he hasn't done anything that wouldn't benefit him, even romancing Ryder could be just a way to get them on his side. Still love him though. What makes me mad is that his ambiguity mostly comes from lack of proper romance/character arc and very little content in general. Come on bioware! You can do better! That's the point of romance quests, to get to know a character!

Free 7-day trial on Avast's SecureLine VPN, if anyone stuck in Europe wants to join in the fun! Super-easy to use. Tried it, but it makes my internet very slow, origin doesnt even load :^( Thanks for the tip anyway

I'm so mad at bioware, not because they didn't make Jaal bi, but because they kept quiet. They knew there's a huge hype around this character and were too afraid to lose money. Just gross. At least they could have been honest about this.

Where did you guys get info on fading to black etc ? Can somebody link me?
Also, I really hope Jaal is going to be bi because otherwise, embarrassing. Like, come on, bioware. It's 2017. Give gay men proper romance options. I wonder why do they deal with it much better in Dragon Age games. I mean, not perfect, but at least Dorian and Bull had proper romance scenes and they were kinda cool as characters. Is mass effect somehow... more straight? More male-oriented?

Godddd I hope he's gonna be full romance. I keep hoping that those breakup emails happen only because he's kind of a long distance romance option and thats why he's the only one who needs this kind of emails -- with other romances you can discuss it in person.
