I'm more interested in the nature of the Titans. Who are they? And what is their relationship with the Dwarves?

Anytime I see anyone bring up of stuff being woke it’s from people like Geeks and Gamers, TheQuartering, and Nerdrotic. People that create false culture wars, and use cringe terms like M-She-U. I have never seen them argue in good faith. They're all grifters looking to profit off the current divide.

What is "woke" anyway? People are so vague on the term. It date back to the 1930s and back them it meant " aware of the racial prejudices and discriminations" impacting the Afro-Americans (they invented the term). Back around 2017, with BLM, it became popular again and used in its proper context. By 2020, it started to be used as an insult/pejorative by the alt right demographic against anything they consider leftist/progressive... Yeah I know the origins, I just needed to know today's context considering everyone is throwing that term to anything they don't like.

That entire "woke" twitter discussion thread. I really love the Was it… ever?… not ”woke” by their standards? Maybe we should have tried harder.and And, holy hannah, if Dragon Age wasn’t already “woke” by their standards, what would be? Also, I guess DADdy is going to be very woke now because the team seems very fired up to crank it up. On a serious note, I take the origin of that entire discussion is that someone learned Maevaris Tilani has a big role in the game. What is "woke" anyway? People are so vague on the term.

Bioware can't write black people lol. Heh, I'm not sure if Jacob being black influenced that (idiotic) decision, or if it was only based on how unpopular he was compared to the rest of the cast. It was still a stupid move to do, with truly no justification. I don't think they'd do the same in any case for Solas, both because I think they learnt from Jacob's debacle (I'm quite sure they didn't expect the reaction to be as negative as it was), and because Solas is much popular, even if it's a controversial character. Well they did reinforce a stereotype with black people when Jacob cheated on Shepard. For a so called progressive company, Bioware has failed miserably in creating decent black characters. Guess we get put in the back burner in favor of other minorities.

Can we romance Solas again? No but Solas cheats on the Inquisitor with some new female elf because the fans have loved that Jacob Taylor has done this before. Bioware can't write black people lol.

The sympathetic villain trope has become much more common in recent media, including in games like The Witcher 3 (as it was with the Bloody Baron questline), Assassins Creed Odyssey/Valhalla, as well as the more recent Marvel Movies. Problem is, I think people see this type of character design as more worthwhile for storytelling, when you can have just as well told an enemy faction who fits the role of a wholly malicious force. Take, for example, The Hive in Destiny. Through multiple character interactions and lore books surrounding their race, they became much more fleshed out as an enemy faction. This included details surrounding how they existed on their homework (Fundament), how they ultimately came to be servants of the Worm Gods/Darkness, and the motivations of their leaders who are essentially demigods in their own right. I wish we could go back to this style of storytelling, as it was basically what the Darkspawn embodied. Thing is, an antagonist who is malicious just for the sake of being malicious is not really compelling from a storytelling perspective. A villain that commits heinous acts just because it's Atrocity Tuesday is not a good villain - they may be fun in a campy, scenery chewing way, but it's pure fluff with no substance. People don't work that way, making a motivation for why a character does something is not a way to minimize their bad behavior, it's writing a complex and realistic character. Even agents of chaos still have some motivation behind their actions. That is in relation to individualistic characters, as for the hivemind-like enemies, I don't think we're in danger of having the Darkspawn be different than they were. It's just that they weren't the main antagonists in DA2 and DAI. If in DAD the Darkspawn will be coming to the foreground again, we may get more insight into them outside of the Codex. Awakening showed that giving them individualism didn't work out all that well for all of them, maybe it would be better for them to continue being a hivemind, it would just depend on who ends up in control. For villains, I think there's a difference between having a sympathetic backstory and actually being sympathetic. That's something writers fumble with. Something I did like in Awakening was that just because you can give a Darkspawn sentience doesn't mean they'll begin the path of good. If anything, many of them just become worse because they were broken off the hive mind.

Vader looked legitimately scary in this episode. Ewan Mcgregor excellent and yet there were some people who said it was the worst episode? I mean one person said it was worse than the Last Jedi? Like REALLY?!

An important milestone: I just went into my spreadsheet and updated the Hypothetical Dragon Age 4 column where I keep ideas about the race/gender/class of future protagonists so it's titled Dreadwolf Plans instead. (Look, the Keep doesn't have enough room to store all of my world states at the same time; how else am I meant to keep track?) I’m still waiting for the day they announce leggy as a romance option.
