I mean with FF7 rebirth underperforming financially, It was no surprise that Square was going to go multiplat. So, Xbox users might get FF7 remake sooner than we think.

Looking at subscriptions, the picture is dire. Look at gamepass: If true, then they’ve screwed themselves for the next 20 years and that’s being generous with the flat subscription rate. This reminds me of Disney who still has yet to make a profit from Star Wars to cover the initial cost of buying LucasFilm despite owning it for over a decade now. That is if the market stays the way it is now as well. I just bought a new 2024 television and it has the Gamepass App on it and frankly I was impressed with it playing the Dead Space remake, I had a little bit of lag a couple of times over two hours and it felt like I was playing it on a Series S graphically. For Microsoft has said that they believe the future is beyond consoles and I think that they are trying to prepare for that ahead of time so they aren't behind the curve like with consoles. Yeah, and I wouldn't really listen to what Mark Kern has to say given that he has out there opinions.

Sounds like Bethesda is going to be focusing on Starfield, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls from here on out. Judging by past Bethesda experience; they are all going to suck. But still somehow sell very well.

Holy hell, 200,000 negative votes and banned in 180 countries by Sony. Also the community management team are such fools: they gave contradictory information about the PSN requirements, insulted the fanbase on discord/twitter, talked about how brave they are for taking the heat, committed libel, and cheered for the backlash as an excuse to ban more players. Now that their unprofessional behavior has been exposed to the world; they are now running and hiding with their tails between their legs while their employer burns. It got so bad that the CEO of Arrowhead himself went on twitter to calm the flame of hatred. The dude managed to roll with the punches and get plenty of players back on his side; how does the CEO have better PR handling than all the community managers combined? Sony is just as guilty as Arrowhead for this radioactive crater they are in and I have a feeling it was sabotage on the part of Sony just as with Stellar Blade. Sony had a good thing going with Helldivers and Stellar Blade being fresh new PS exclusives. How can they fumble them both so badly in less than a month?

Well then, if you want to help AA and Indie creators actually BUY THEIR GAMES. Problem is, people say they hate AAA games but they keep buying and investing in them. Unfortunately, it takes time for AAA fatigue to seep into the masses the way it has for Star Wars fatigue. However, the runaway success of Palworld, Helldivers 2 and BG3 has accelerated the need for quality. I consider BG3 a AAA game and that game was made under special circumstances that'll likely never be replicated.

I just discovered that all the people who cheated in the Vanguard sim using the game console...you did it wrong! There is a way in-game to cheat the test.

So, people online talk about single player games not being prominent in the market but yet the second one critically acclaimed single title comes along, THEY DON'T BUY THEM! It's little wonder why gaming companies don't listen to the internet.

The censorship looks ridiculous too. Who is this supposed to appeal to, The Saudis or dudes to the left of Bernie? / Somehow the pic on the right looks more tasteful than that Abby scene.

I started FO4 again after almost a decade I don't remember much, but damn survival mode is like the best and the worst. I'm making fearful baby steps around Sanctuary.

Lol CDPR eventually squandered all that good will with Cyberpunk. It's good that Stellar Blade is getting a look but we should all be at least wary of corporations lol.

I think it shows the power of a good demo. If anything, we might see a resurgence of games being demo'd again thanks to games like FF7: Rebrith and now Stellar Blade.

"Some third-party publishers are reportedly expressing doubts about continuing to support Xbox consoles amid “flatlining” sales in Europe.
The phrase one major company who released a big game last year said [was], ‘I don’t know why we bothered supporting it’.
“We mentioned on a previous podcast that we’d heard retailers in Europe are considering or had already been cutting back their Xbox stock on their shelves—hardware, games, that kind of thing—and now you’ve got third-party publishers going, ‘we’re putting in a lot of effort trying to create a Series S version and an X version of a game when, to be honest with you, for us the market is PC and PS5’.”www.videogameschronicle.com/news/publishers-are-reportedly-questioning-support-for-xbox-amid-flatlining-sales/So this segues right into the next bit of XBOX news "Microsoft’s gaming chief hints that Xbox could get PC stores one day.Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has dropped some hints that PC stores like Epic Games Store and Itch.io could one day arrive on Xbox consoles"www.theverge.com/2024/3/26/24112591/microsofts-gaming-chief-hints-that-xbox-could-get-pc-stores-one-daySo basically XBOX's in the future could just be PC's ... why not just buy a PC? Not everyone thinks they can keep up with a PC and just want plug and play. So keep the hardware fixed like a console, but add PC storefronts probably meets a group of players out there. I want a console so I can just play games and I can use my PC for everything else. Besides, I don't want to upgrade my PC components every year just to keep up with the latest graphics.

Yeah but it's hard to differentiate between normal studios now and the monolithic studios with thousands of employees which are the real problems. For example Ubisoft has 11 Assassins Creed Projects going on, at the same time, and they can do this because they have 20 thousand (bazillion) employees (and also by not putting any care into their games, *looks at Skull and Bones*). So it's like we know Larian is AAA with 400 to 600 employees, but then what's Ubisoft with 20000? So because I don't like using the stupid AAAA(AAAAAAA) category, Larian (and Bethesda now) are AA to me. They don't have the employees needed to churn things out as quickly or work on as many projects as the larger studios. Maybe Larian could be considered AA+? I consider them AAA while Ubisoft is well whatever they call themselves lol.

The best game last year and the best game this year could very well be a non AAA game, which is just an amazing place for the industry to be (and a gigantic middle finger to AAA practices and greed). And of course Rockstar will ruin the run next year by releasing GTA 6 Larian is pretty much AAA company in my view based on how many people worked on BG3.
