As always, take rumors with a grain salt, but here's what the leaker behind the Starfield coming to PS5 is saying now:

But Starfield wasn't made with Steam in mind, It was for Gamepass. It's pushing gamepass numbers so well there's rumors floating around about it's PS debut. But let's examine the steam numbers and apply it to gamepass and then maybe we can extrapolate it to why those rumors exist atm. Starfield had a peak on steamcharts of 330,000 concurrent players. That's good (obviously it's a lot higher when factoring gamepass numbers) but still actually very good. This equates to over a million daily players and millions of players playing on steam in general. It's 9k current daily concurrent playerbase on steam is a steep drop off. That's less than 3% of it's overall playerbase still playing. You can safely apply these figures to gamepass btw, there's nothing unique to steam that says this drop off rate would be any different. So why does this matter? Because gamepass is a subscription service, longevity matters because you need people to keep subscribing to this service. So if we extrapolate that same drop off to gamepass then suddenly Starfield isn't pushing insane numbers anymore. Or even good numbers. Time to launch it on PS to get more money from old fashion sales. And this might hint at a future strategy. These sorts of games pushes gamepass numbers only in the beginning, so releasing initially on gamepass then eventually taking things to PS might be the strategy for the future. Going back to Starfield, I'm not sure what metric people can use to say Starfield met expectations when it clearly hasn't in every aspect. Clearly it does better than some games but this is Bethesda, the studio Microsoft spent 8 billion dollars on. Don't make me bring up the game you hate talking about and their retention rate even though it released a month before THAT would be a good retention rate for a subscription service. I mean single player games tend to drop off after first few months. Skyrim and Fallout 4 had plenty of updates, expansions, and the Creation Kit, something that Starfield has yet to receive. I don't know what Microsoft's expectations are but from what I've seen, It was clearly for the Gamespass since it was released on day one Gamepass. And if Microsoft expects Bethesda to be like Fornite or COD in terms of constant generation, I think they're a little naive and besides, based on what Microsoft said during their Quarterly meetings, Starfield did help with subscriptions and sales so It's safe to assume that It met or exceeded expectations.

Starfield bombed? That's news to me. Critically. Reviews were lukewarm, especially user reviews. I know it sold pretty well but probably would have sold even better if the game had been better received. I imagine plenty of people decided to check it out on GamePass first rather than buy a copy outright when people started shitting on it. No idea what kind of sales Microsoft expected. Also not sure what Starfield did to Bethesda's reputation and people's excitement for TES6. I don't think Microsoft expected the backlash Starfield received when they bought Bethesda. Redfall was a total disaster. Things were rough lately for Xbox titles in terms of backlash. But could be Microsoft only cares about how much money they made. And maybe Xbox is not actually doing as poorly as people are assuming. It's positive to mixed with the game making a lot of money. It was a massive success for Xbox. I know people here hate Bethesda and Microsoft but even with the review bombing on Steam, It was still made the 3rd most money on the platform. We don't even know how much it made for Xbox, but one can assume that it a lot more than in Steam given that It was Bethesda's fastest selling title I believe.

There are 3 times as many daily concurrent players playing Skyrim on Steam than there are Starfield. There are twice as many daily concurrent players playing Fallout 4 on Steam than Starfield. And that's because there's only 9k concurrent daily players on steam. Paul Tassi and the Bethesda PR can put out as much cope as they like, but for what they were expecting (and they were expecting a ten year game and players playing for a long time, not players trying then dropping it) it didn't do well at all. They want to retain players and keep them playing for a long time (so they can sell mods to them for exorbitant prices). But Starfield wasn't made with Steam in mind, It was for Gamepass.

I can see this happening, Xbox got NOTHING going for it. Starfield was supposed to be the big system seller, maybe it wasn't? Maybe people were waiting to see if Starfield is any good before buying the console just to play it. And then Starfield bombed... Microsoft could be getting desperate for sales. GamePass is not sustainable either imo. Whatever Microsoft is doing it's not working out, I think. Buying big studios for crazy money and then not getting the kind of return they wanted. Well, I can't wait for the day this whole exclusive shit goes away, console AND on PC. Big PS4/5 titles have been getting ported for years now. Because extra sales are extra sales. Once all the hardcore fans are done buying a console just for their favorite franchise, you want to reach the people who didn't, and sell it to them on their platform of choice. Makes sense to me. Starfield bombed? That's news to me.

Still doubtful of the reports, Starfield still did extremely well for Xbox. I don't think Microsoft went through all that legal trouble acquiring Activision/Blizzard only for them to pivot on their stance. I could see Hifi Rush coming to Nintendo and MAYBE Sony but not like Halo, Gears, and Starfield.

Unless Spiderman or the TLOU comes to Xbox, I don't seen any benefits in Microsoft doing business with Sony. In any case, I'm still doubtful of the reports.

EXCLUSIVE | Microsoft plans Starfield launch for PlayStation 5xboxera.com/2024/02/04/exclusive-microsoft-plans-starfield-launch-for-playstation-5/According to sources, we understand that currently Microsoft are planning a launch for Starfield on PlayStation 5 post the release of the already announced “Shattered Space” expansion for Xbox and PC, which is on target to arrive at some point later this year. We’ve also been informed that Microsoft have made additional investment into PlayStation 5 dev kits to support ongoing development efforts – adding further fuel to the fire. Sounds like speculation to me.

Just some of my thoughts for Kill the Justice League. I do think the game was put into death march to get it done which kills all creativity and passion for a project. I also think it wouldn't have the same reaction as Cyberpunk 2077 for what we were being shown is what we got and I think the early trailer that everyone laughed at killed any hype for the game. The Last of Us Part 2 had the problem of where it went from the first game, I don't think the issue was specifically Abby, but how the circumstances worked between Abby and Joel and Ellie, so it was more of a problem on how people saw the characters they are attached to from the first game in the second game. The other issue I think with the game is that the people that were involved weren't there or in the same positions so all the institutional knowledge was gone and everything that was needed to be fixed was taking longer and forecasted profits were dwindling. Overall it was a developmental mess of a game and I have pretty much the same opinion of it that I did with the Snyder-verse of movies. It was made, I didn't care for it and now it is time to move on for there is new leadership that is trying to create a blank slate. Hopefully the new leadership will be able to see the problems that the prior leadership couldn't see. I have the same vibes from this game that I did when seeing the trailers for Aquaman 2 where they didn't see what made the prior things as good and wanted them to feel more into the "desconstructionist" approach. To go on a bit of a philosophical tangent.
That's the problem. "Deconstructionism" is the main philosophy of the current generation of developers, producers and writers in the West. They don't care about the source material or its context, all they care about is tearing it down through emasculating the men, injecting women with toxic masculinity, twisting inspiring themes and messages, praising hedonism and chaos compared to order and tranquility, ...etc.
All the beloved works that have stood the test of time for decades and even centuries are being ruined by this industry-wide brainrot and we don't even get any new compelling art or works from it. It's stagnation as well as regression, hell its almost cultural suicide by the entertainment industry.
But yeah, that's my take, I hope I'm wrong but I've seen too much.
The Last of Us 3 Probably Happening at Some Point in the Future [/div]
Gee Whiz, maybe killing off Joel, crippling Tommy and leaving Ellie without a family was not such a bright idea huh? Who knew people actually liked those characters.
[/quote] Wasn't Elle maimed at the end? Also the problem with deconstruction is that it's hard to continue anything after you've took it apart. For a series to continue, there needs to be something that the series and the characters can go on. There's a reason why the majority of deconstructions are spin offs or single games.

Looks like the latest patch added some bugs. If we add my invisible attacked of the other day to the hurricane ship, random difficulty bump and Xbox freezing (or the XBox is something else since people had freezing issues since launch). smilesja to know if the problem is the FormID limit, you'll have to move to NG+. I'm not even halfway done with the main quest. XD

My game is all of a sudden freezing up, completed half of Further into the Unknown and now my game can't go five minutes without crashing. Any mods? Have you done a lots of stuff on that PT current universe so far? Like dropping stuff on the ground, visiting a lots of random places, etc. Some of their lightning changes might cause some issues. I had a bit of frame rate drop in the intro cave on my new character, but the rest was smooth. I play on Xbox so no mods for me. But I've done a lot of side questing.

Now they realize that how their engine has been handling FormeIDs is a big mega problem when it's been around since Oblivion if you played long enough... Hey at least they're finally getting around to it after 18 years lol.

Six months later and we're still arguing over BG3 xD Companions, let's see. With the benefit of some time away from the game I Really liked Pathfinders companions. If Pathfinder didn't have that compulsory strategy thingy it might have been far more popular. God I hate it. I do prefer BG3's and Mass Effects companions over Dragon Age's though. I mean its been nearly a decade and we still talk and argue over the Witcher. People have their opinions, perspectives, insights, and preferences and talking about them does help all of us come to greater knowledge and understanding. Dragon Age's companions are waaaayyyyy better than BG3.

alanc9 just went to Steam and yeah I am not alone re the F12 issue. What is it about those forums that people will start an argument about something just because it is not a problem for them. Someone raises it and people are like you must be an idiot it's not a problem for me. Anyway good suggestion was just to rebind screenshot to F11 in Steam. People are determined to hate Starfield for whatever reason, best to avoid the Steam forums though, it's a cesspool lol.

That Nintendo's lawyers are so notoriously bloodthirsty is why I'm confident that Nintendo has no grounds for a lawsuit. Take that Pokemon mod that appeared for Palworld, Nintendo went after them inside of a week but Palworld has been publicly worked on for 3 years. It's released to 10 million sales and a huge wave of goodwill. And they're both Japanese companies so if Nintendo wanted to launch a lawsuit it'd be comparatively easy. They haven't done anything. Which means Nintendo probably can't do anything. It's just people on twitter whinging again. Since Pair's designs aren't 1:1 nor have they used trademarked terminology they'll be safe but that hasn't stopped Nintendo in the past. The whining on social media despite Nintendo treating their fans like redheaded stepchildren reminds me of this... One potentially big positive of Palworld's success that Pokemon fans should look forward to is that GameFreak might put some effort into their next title. So far GF's latest monster designs look uninspired when compared to older generations, weak character customization, poor servers and there's no 1st party communication option between players. I'm doubtful one game will cause a billion dollar company to "wake up." We really need to stop overestimating outlier's successes.

I'm going to be controversial - I would have liked to not have a Gray Warden companion. It's just that after three games of having one (yes, I'm still counting Blackwall) I don't want it to become something mandatory. The blights are very important to the story, no doubt, but I really think it starts to feel weird that the Wardens keep weaseling themselves into the story of every major player in Thedas. If we did have to have one I'd have preferred a female this time.

Until Larian fixes the save bug on Xbox, I've placed BG3 on the backburner and resumed playing Starfield. Forgot how addicting the game is lol. But yeah I've tried the Beowolf weapon for the first time and I can see why people use it soooo much. That weapon shreds through anyone and anything including high level Terromorphs!
Anyway, I'll try to get a summary of my adventures tomorrow and it'll deal with THAT war criminal and the twists and turns regarding their storyline. Boy all I'm going to say is that I wished I'd killed that war criminal myself lol.
