When I played this game first, I didn't bother with Sara's CC. But now that I'm playing around with it, I don't think she looks terrible, but I do think she looks old. It almost made me think I was creating a mother and son, not fraternal twins.
I wonder if that would be a good angle for future games?
I know lots of people complained about how "ugly" the female characters are, but did anyone else get that particularly complaint? That the women just look much older than the men when it came to CC?

The CC are scans of real life people, so these "ugly" women are not really ugly, but the scanned versions of them are. Even Sara's real life model for her default look is stunning! I noticed when I had the lighting effect at low or medium, you can see scars, acne and poor skin texture, but if you have the lighting effect up to high or ultra, their skin smooths out and looks younger.

I've heard complaints that both twins' presets make them look older than the intended 22. It's not universal, though; I think my character looks young enough. Of course, allowing us to edit complexion like every past CC would fix that issue, but noooo, you had to use some stupid scans, Bioware

Remember how Miranda in ME2 looked nothing like her model? I'm guessing the translation is hit or miss, and poor Sara is totally a miss.
Why can't they have gone back and tweaked the face to look at least - er, normal?
And not this?

I'm not sure what went wrong since your human squadmates (and PeeBee I think) are also real life models, and Scott's default turned out pretty handsome too! Sara seems to have been the major issue.

I feel the exact opposite, duskwanderer. I think all of the Scotts I've crafted look older than 22 (more like 27 to 35). I have no problem at all, though, crafting a youthful, attractive Sara. I've used three different scans for three different Saras (#1, 5 and 7). If it weren't such a PITA to share pics from PS4 Pro, I'd have posted pics long ago. The male CC scans all have crow's feet and forehead wrinkles in-game, at the very least. I realize that everyone ages differently, but I'm pushing 40 and I still don't have those issues. I know I'm in the minority on this forum, but I've really grown to appreciate this CC. It's much more nuanced than people seem to believe. It does take skill to get varied looks out of it; and I think many people like to throw together some features and play. Alternatively, they try to self-insert via the CC, and scans don't readily allow that. I'm in favor of additional options in the CC, but I think they should probably just be additional pairs of scans. I'd hate to see them ruin the CC by trying to accommodate critics. They can always go back to a more varied, but less life-like, CC in the next game.

I Googled their games, and ended up reading a full review of Prey, but am still not sure what you mean. I'd thought you meant piercings, hair variety, etc... in the CC. All of their games are first-person, though, no? That's one reason why I've not played a few of them.

When I press the share button it automatically takes a screenshot without getting into that stupid menu first.

They "look" human, but they also distinctly "don't." Their faces are a bit too big, there are too many hard lines. You'd never mistake them for real people. It lets you accept certain flaws about characters when they embrace the fact that they aren't photo-realistic. With ME:A's scans, you can't really do that.

I'm not in favor, since I already like ME's aesthetic, but you're right about its advantages.

I'm twitchy with the share button on my PS4. I wanted to make my Ryders look Indian, although both of their parents are white, but whatever *shrug* I haven't done too much with the Scott presets, but tweaked preset #6 has been my go-to. All in all, the CC is doable. It just takes a lot of tweaking IMO. Playing around with the CC, I was also able to make a half-decent Ryder with Sara preset #2. I don't have any screenshots, but I know it's possible (like with the other presets).

I know lots of people complained about how "ugly" the female characters are, but did anyone else get that particularly complaint? That the women just look much older than the men when it came to CC? On the contrary, I found that female CC characters from the start were far more attractive and far younger looking than the males. They all, males and females, had horrendous default distribution of hair, coloring and facial features, but it was all easily changed to rather good looking females. Males though had skin problems, save for Preset 1 and 4. Female skins (like Preset 7) also benefit from applying skin from preset #1.
Fixing skin issues by a tiny edit immediately rejuvenates and makes pretty much every preset a starting point for a young and attractive Ryder, male or female. Why on earth they did not allow the skin slider beats me.
Animations age M!Ryders far more than F!Ryders. I certainly do not think (particularly given the story's direction in the end of the game) that F!Ryder in any way looks like M!Ryder's mom. F!Ryder also never acts motherly. If anything, to me, M!Ryder is more capable overall (including his voice) to step up as Alec #2, and feels like an older brother to the far more juvenile-sounding and younger acting F!Ryder.
