1) The hair textures got quite a bit better with 1.06, best check it out ingame.
2) There is a greyed out "custom" setting when selecting one of the 10 face presets in the character creator (as 11th option). I didn't notice this before, does it hint towards a feature in the next patch?

That's always there until you customize a face. Then you can click it to bring up your own creation.

At least for the male hairstyles; I don't play female characters, so I can't say anything about that. At first I thought my graphics settings had been changed somehow by the update, but they hadn't. So if I'm alone in this, I'm pretty baffled. Edit: This is PC version. Forgot to mention.

The new hair is an improvement for lighter shades but my brunette Ryder's hair now looks greasy (ps4 version).

Honestly with all the fighting through foreign, sometimes hostile, planets and all the time out in the field Ryder's hair probably should be a little greasy. After all I doubt she can just go get a shower.

I'm still waiting for the Eos update.
So Ryder, what do you want your first outpost to be? Military or scientific? Screw that, wake up some hairdressers and beauticians. And throw in a plastic surgeon while you're at it.

My Sara's new hair: So... after improving over DA:I by not having super shiny hair, they... went and made the hair shiny in a patch?! What the hell is wrong with this team? Way to make me not want to do another playthrough... You know what would have been awesome? A hair gloss/shininess slider. That way, everyone gets what they want! But no... We can't have nice things. Sorry, I am so annoyed right now...

Sorry, I am so annoyed right now... Yes, exactly. I was so pleased to finally be able to create a black-haired character ( actual black, not the dark-gray or dark-blue that DAI used to call black). It wasn't as if I wanted some rare, exotic color. But now it looks grayish again because of the shiny. Hoping they can tone it back down a bit, but you're right. A specular slider would be absolutely super.

Try fussing with the lighting maybe? Or the shaders? It worked for fixing their skin textures.

Changing it didn't help, but I shouldn't have even had to try that. I get what you mean, though.

Before Patch After Patch I'm not sure it's an improvement.

1) The hair textures got quite a bit better with 1.06, best check it out ingame. Surely I'm not the only one noticing a distinct move into the realm of plastic? At least for the male hairstyles; I don't play female characters, so I can't say anything about that. At first I thought my graphics settings had been changed somehow by the update, but they hadn't. So if I'm alone in this, I'm pretty baffled. Edit: This is PC version. Forgot to mention. No, you're not alone. I find the new hair way too shiny as well. I feel like I watch a shampoo ad. The old hair looked more realistic.

It's a bit too shiny, now. The lighting changes also negatively impacted an already perfect experience in HDR by creating areas of Seinfeld-style "bad lighting". They're not too common, mostly found aboard Tempest.

It wasn't as if I wanted some rare, exotic color. But now it looks grayish again because of the shiny. Hoping they can tone it back down a bit, but you're right. A specular slider would be absolutely super. My thoughts exactly; my character has (had?) black hair as well, and I was excited about it after DA:I's "black". Try fussing with the lighting maybe? Or the shaders? It worked for fixing their skin textures. Unfortunately, I'm on console and am without access to fancy graphics options Not that we should need to fix something that wasn't broken to begin with. It also means I can't download a potential mod that alters the hair back to its original state and keep the rest of the patch. Before Patch After Patch I'm not sure it's an improvement. Are you kidding me...? *Sigh* That is the exact hair and colour my character has... The pre-patch one I considered a huge improvement over DA:I. The texture quality is good. The post-patch one looks like she dunked herself in some grease, or put way too much product in her hair. It looks much less realistic; more plastic. How could Bioware go from hearing complaints about shiny hair in DA:I making it look plastic, to fixing it in ME:A, to reverting to shiny plastic in a patch? What? Patches are supposed to fix things, not break them! You know what would have been awesome? A hair gloss/shininess slider. That way, everyone gets what they want! But no... We can't have nice things. That's odd, because I think the new hair shown in the picture is super awesome and a huge improvement. To each their own, I guess. Indeed. This is why it would be great if we could adjust it ourselves, like lip gloss.
