Well it was bizarre and a bit spooky I'll give you that but I can't put a finger on which specific work of his you may be referring to. A tad modern for Lovercraft imo.

No, not really. It reminded me of other science fiction stuff, but Lovecraft wasn't one of them.

I think they will avoid Lovecraftian horror for a lot of stuff since the Reapers were inspired by that and they'll want this new threat to feel different.

More along the lines of the architecture of the platforms, those cube things, and the creatures he walked around were like they came out of some of his works that revolved around cthulhu.

I haven't read too many of his works because the ones I've read had an overly cut and paste writers formula that puts cod to shame

I think that the Leviathan mysteries looked a lot more lovecraftian than that section of the remnant vault with that whole "old gods being worshipped by primitives" that they liked to do.

Right, I was gonna say that bizarre geometries is a Lovecraft thing.

That said, I think the Lovecraftian elements in ME (and today's sci-fi in general) gets overstated by fans. They're there but genericized/watered down. And it's kind of getting old imo.

I seriously hope they won't draw from Lovecraft this time. This is such an obvious inspiration for 'spooky' stuff. I'd like it a lot more if they did more 2001 or Alien, or Philip K. Dick.

Last summer I bought the complete works of Lovecraft, I still think the 1st story of his I read was the scariest that being 'Rats in the Walls', Dunwich Horror was pretty out there as well.
This summer I bought the complete works of Poe, I must being going through a creepy phase.

Actually it reminded me a bit of the Alien vs. Predators franchise (and Prometheus).. perhaps that's why I am in awe of it (favorite franchise EVER)

After the reveal of the Leviathan's true nature, I half-expected someone in-universe to speculate whether H.P. Lovecraft may have been exposed to a Leviathan orb, making the Lovecraftian elements in the series intentional as he was unwittingly writing stories based on real things he'd glimpsed?

The Leviathan like to hide on oceanic worlds, so who's to say that Earth (71% Ocean) isn't one of their haunts? Could make them the inspiration for mythological sea creatures on Earth such as the Kraken or even their biblical namesake, as yet even more recursive canon.

I'm referring to the same one. The architecture and everything of the reapers are closed to anything in halo than the 4k trailer
