I'm an hardcore lover of ME1 but one have to recognize that part of the love and those feelings we got came from the fact that ME1 was the first of the series. We were not really sure what to expect the first time we put that disc inside our PC/Consoles.
It's like the first time you do something new. Now we are accustomed to what to expect from the game so it's not like the other games will be ever able to achieve that type of enthusiasm we got the first time we played the game. In this thread you do nostalgia talks which is fine but you won't help BW in making a better product by telling them older games gave you better feels. You should tell instead what specific things you liked about those games and what made you come back years after, having eliminated the nostalgia feeling as that is not something that can be replicated in another game and is not even rational.
I reckon we fans in one way or the other are driven by nostalgia and we love when a developer pander to us by using that card however by doing that the developer itself is dooming its product not to innovate and therefore never shocking us to the extent ME1 did when we played it the first time. It will come the day when BW should stop playing it safe and DARE to challenge our expectations and desires to follow an innovative path.

This has nothing to do with "nostalgia", I do not deny "nostalgia" plays its part, but hereit is about the atmosphere created by the soundtrackt and the immersion created by the game (story, writing, characters, environments). MEA delivers nothing... or better said, it actualy is there, but burrowed deep down under a ton of bugs and bad (design) decisions, it barely shines through.

Ah, the time when mass effect had actual music and themes.
Andromeda could've been a tad better had they tried using the music like ME1 did, the atmospheres could've been better, the exploration could e been better, etc etc. ME1 was arguably the best when it came to that (ME3 challenge since it's nothing but death/emotional music the entire time).

Man the ME:1 Main Theme gets me every time. Standing by the window while Anderson and Udina talk, before the text and Mass Effect pop up on the screen. Then Shepard walking through the Normandy to the bridge before they reveal your character and you go through the relay for the first time. Intro was flawless, just flawless, grabbed me right away. Ditto. I had pretty good speakers back then, still do, and with the PC near the window, it shook with the "sonic boom". It still does when I played ME1 again recently. I remembered my mouth was agape, eyes wide with amazement. A wtf moment and I was hooked. I'm playing ME2 now and it's too bad they toned down the sound effect of the relay.

I only remember that I had to visit anger management classes, because of the Mako. I'm pretty sure that's not something I should feel. maybe you should have joined the PC master race and maybe you should not take curves and drive over bumps and mountaintops at full speed, that wouldn't work too well in RL either ME is, and never was, a car simulator. The only times I had problems with the Mako were my own faults, just like trying to take a 110° turn at 100mph and wondering when you hit the house. I have two PCs and a Laptop. We all know that the Mako has clunky design and 0 driving physics. You either hated that thing or you loved it. Who exactly are we trying to fool here?

We all know that the Mako has clunky design and 0 driving physics. You either hated that thing or you loved it. Who exactly are we trying to fool here? Driving physics, are you serious? Sorry, the only people who fool themselves and have problems with the Makko are those who think they got a Forza Motorsports car simulator here, just because it has wheels. Mako handles and drives fine, considering ME is not primarly a car simulator, you just need to drive it according to specs. If you try to take a 100° turn at 100mph you are going to crash, that is a FACT. If you go at 100mph over a bump in zero g, you are going to go up and well, provide some weird stunts. The same applies when you try to go up a climb of like 70°. I do not know if someone can "love" the Mako, but the truth is, the people who hate it are just too stupid to see and understand what they are playing and are just too stupid to play accordingly.

Is it 'prove people really aren't over the trilogy week' or something?
It's not like you can never play it again you know. It's still there.

I do remember that feeling! On March 21st, 2017. Ah, like it was only weeks ago.
Oh, wait...it was.
Seriously, I get this feeling with every ME game, MEA as well. I remember loading ME:A, "A Better Beginning" started on the menu screen and I felt like I was back into Mass Effect. It's still a great feeling.

ME1 music was sleek and techno-ish, heavy on the synthesizer, which is not the kind of music I like at all.
Despite that, whenever I hear the ME1 soundtrack, I get so many feelings. Excitement, wonder, nostalgia (to name a few). I recognize it immediately and it inevitably makes me smile.
That is the power of a great game. The music was cool and all, but it was the game that made that music friggen legendary.
It is iconic.
MEA has a generic soundtrack and is not a super compelling game (note I enjoyed it, but it was nothing special for me). A year from now, I am sure I won't even recognize the MEA music.

Meridian felt like Mass Effect to me. The Asari Ark, Archon's Ship, and Exaltation facility did too. The title theme is really good, but I honestly can't remember any other track. I dunno there are flashes of greatness and mass effect-ness, but far too few it's mostly hollow worlds with hollow characters doing hollow tasks.

No. Does that make you an apologist? No. It just means you were fine with the Extended Cut DLC and appreciated the game "as is." Anyway, one thing Bioware can still claim is that they know how to add music to the canvas.

I was still dealing with Kai Leng when the whole internet collectively cried over the RGB ending. By the time I reached the ending, the DLC had dropped and I was "okay" with it. It was a cheap alternative. It didn't stop me from replaying the game three more times to explore Renegade options and see alternate scenes with different companions.

I finished ME3 around 7-8 times, maybe even more. Everytime different gender, romance and decisions. Yeah, i always have a small issue when i have to start Priority: Earth, cause i know where this is going, and this makes me sad; but to be honest, i am absolutely fine with one thing: no happy ending - ok, you save the day, but you need to pay the price... but you know why this is still great ? Because after 5 years, i still think about it. And i know it's just the matter of time before i will do it again.

I get that music was missing from the Nexus and other areas, but really OP? At least use Vigil or the Illusive Man soundtracks. The new Galaxy map music beats the old one. Also the background music on Voeld and Elaadin is some of the best atmospheric music in Mass Effect that rivals the feels that Vigil presents.
