Hey All. New to the Forums here. Glad to see people didn't want to let the 16 years of the BSN forums just disappear completely. Where there's a will, there's a way, right? In any event, I didn't see this already posted, so hopefully it will be useful to many of you. Back when the PC version of Mass Effect was released, the adapting company (Demiurge) did a decent job, but for PC's with AMD CPU's, they programmed a certain call to it (to the 3DNow! function I believe.) which worked fine until AMD dumped that function with their newer processors. This resulted in many users experiencing huge black 'blobs' for many characters & items. This happened both in Noveria & Ilos. The graphics bug was so bad it rendered combat nearly unplayable. Eventually someone came up with an .ini workaround, turning off some effects to at least make the black blobs the exact shape of characters & items. Much better, but still annoying. Especially because if you wanted to enjoy those additional graphics for the rest of the game, you had to shut the game down, edit the .ini file, then start it up again. Later when the bug stopped, you had to repeat the process. It was better than no workaround, but still far less than desirable. However, I recently stumbled across an FPS Counter program that also adds a number of graphical tweaks, including seamlessly eliminating the Black Blob problem. For your enjoyment, I present- www.nexusmods.com/masseffect/mods/71/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fmasseffect%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D71&pUp=1(FPS Counter and Post Processing Effects) Enjoy!

Actually, for my own benefit, I was curious if anyone could help me with a particular function of that program. The 'Post Processing'function I assume is supposed to make the game look better, but everytime I activate it, everything turns Murky, Faded & Dark. All the colors are washed out as well. No setting that I could see changed that look, it was just 'On' or 'Off'. Any Ideas?

Just registered to chime in that I have the exact same findings with regards to the colours and darkness. Shame of it is, I've sunk in around 40 hrs worth of playtime now and have only realised that indoor settings, especially underground ones don't have to be so dark that I can't even see chests and enemies. Sigh. But at least I discovered it.
