My question is with regards to the Quarian Ark, its populations, and size. To preface the question, there is a point in the main story where you make it to the Salarian Ark, and it is brought up by one of your companions that losing the Salarian Ark would likely spell doom for the Salarian population in Andromeda. 20,000 members lost is apparently too much for any species too handle; or at least the Salarians. We also know that the Nexus housed 100,000 people, and I would imagine it's roughly 20,000 per species (Human, Asari, Salarian, Turian, Krogan). While this is another assumption, it seems as though dipping below 30,000 members (total) represents a huge risk to a species ability to reproduce within the new galaxy.
The Quarian Ark houses 5 races aboard: Quarians, Drell, Hanar, Elcor, and Volus. Assuming the Quarian Ark is the same size as the other Arks,, wouldn't each of the species about the Quarian ark be in jeopardy of extinction given their few numbers? If the number of inhabitants on the Ark is 20,000 max, that would be only 4000 members per species. And since we don't see any of these species on the Nexus, that's a significantly small group to bring with aboard the Quarian ark; from each respective species.
My only thoughts on how this would actually make sense is:
1) The Quarian Ark is almost the size of the Nexus, as 100,000 members would mean each species has at least 20,000 members. Considering it left sometime after the first four arks left, it may have been because they needed more time to develop a larger Ark. The Nexus also only has enough ports for 4 Arks to be attached to it, so that leaves the Quarian Ark by itself. This one is still pretty questionable, since it still calls into question if there's enough reproductive ability for such a small group (e.g. Losing 20000 aboard the Salarian Ark).
2) Egg Cells or Embryos are placed in cold storage. This option is never mentioned in-game, so it seems like the less likely option.
I want to see more of the old races come back, but I'm just not sure if the lore and reasoning behind some of the major events in the game permits them coming here in such small numbers (at least based off of assumptions).

4000 each would be plenty enough to start colonies, more than the krogan got, IIRC.

Salarian populations aren't anywhere near 50% male / female which might have something to do with it where they're concerned, so even though I think they could change and its largely cultural it could be that there simply aren't enough salarian females on the Nexus alone.
