Did I miss it? I finished the game last week and was expecting some kind of reference after that choice at the start of the game. Mark Meer, Jen Hale, or even just a mention, but I don't recall anything.  Alec's memories were the perfect place to put it too. |

Yeah, it was odd. I thought there would be a mention of the Battle of the Citadel, perhaps in the Nexus Archives, where there's background info on the MW species. It never came though, so I wonder if it was included in something that was cut at the very last hour.

I think in one of the Ryder family secret dialogues it needs to refer to Shep in the third person and the game needs to know if it should say 'he' or 'she'. No other reason that I could see.So you can get by just saying Shepard, but sentences like "Shepard warned the council but they refused to act on his/her warnings" sound alot better than saying Shepard twice in the same sentence. Not saying that is actual dialog, just an example.

A common theory is that it may have been for dub or subtitle purposes as not all languages allow for words of a neutral gender. Unless I missed something, it does not seem necessary in regards to what references Shepard has but it may have also been included in case it was needed for future references in future DLCs or future games.

I listened closely if there's any reference to gender. It's one of the choices that don't seem to matter at all. Not in this game anyway. As for dubbing, at least in German it wouldn't make any difference. Not with the wording they used in the audio tapes. |

I assumed it was there but did not listen carefully for it. In some languages the verb in the second person is gender specific, so that might apply for subtitles like someone mentioned earlier. Pure speculation but it would make sense if it was some sort of language-gender issue. |

And there I was thinking I was being derpy and just missed it. I have to admit, having that choice made me a little excited to see how they'd mention Shep in the game. Heck, even something like Vega Bull Jr. would've done.  |

Probably for the same reason they asked about Hawke and the Warden for DA:I. The relevance might not pop up right away, or even obviously, but I suspect it's there or will be.

I was pretty sure that at one point they referred to my Shep as "she" which made me really happy. I could be wrong, and I cannot quote when it was, but I thought it happened.

Considering the benefactor, Archon superiors, Jaardan, Ryder Family, scourge, remnant worm, and many other lore aspects and stories are left unanswered, I imagine it was supposed to do with the future dlc or games.
Hopefully we still get that content.
