"Most High" again, is that how I stay calm enough to make those life-saving shots? (I know what it means, but I'm totally sticking to this story)

And the door? I was breaching. A well-set up breach is one of the best tools in XCOM.

So, what strategy do you guys recommend for dealing with a Codex / those super aliens? The codexes really only have two tricks that make them annoying. That void power with all the blue stuff that disables weapons, and if you dont kill them they make copies that appear behind you or flanking you. Similar to avoiding enemy grenades and rockets, spread your guys out so they arent that affected by the void power, and despite them not being organic beings, a shinobi with fleche can usually take one down with a single hit thanks to the running damage bonus. What I didnt get good shots of in that encounter (camera angles are sometimes a bitch) was someones overwatch shot damaging the codex and making a copy, and my guy taking one down with his axe. Codexes in groups, however, can be a bit of a bitch as they start duplicating like fucking bunnies. If you can get the drop on the group before they move, hit them with a grenade or rocket, youll possibly kill a few, but yes youll have duplicates errywhere after but they will all be so weak the rest of your crew can take them down with ease. Remember, rangers get a double shot if they dont move and apparently (as i just learned this week) the shinobis multi kill ability was lowered in level requirement so its accessible sooner.

Them and high-ground snipers is what makes Long War feasible. I only have/play Enemy Within on the PS3, but Squadsight Snipers with Genemods are my thing. The other day, I got a UFO crash on a map with a barn, and I still have vivid memories of jumping in the window of the barn, and activating a disk robot thing that just tore through my squad, so the moment I saw that barn, every rocket I had hit that thing, half the barn was gone before I realized that there was only Sectoids this time.

So I found some mods that allow you to make / upgrade dem hunter weapons. I really like those axes and spike launchers... The mod Reusable Hunter's Axes is pretty awesome too.

The mod Reusable Hunter's Axes is pretty awesome too. What does it do? Allow you to spam axe throw?
Seems a little overpowered, and slightly immersion breaking. But then again, with LW you do need every advantage...
So far I'm still aborting any mission I can't boost to 100% infiltration at the very least, I tried once with a squad that had three vets (well, not really, more like level 2-3 maybe) and three rookies, and somehow I ended up fighting against a wave of more than 12 advent variants, backed by 3 turrets, I barely managed to escape with half my squad and without the objective.
Technically, though in order to spam it you have to run your axe wielder over to where he/she threw the axe and then pick it up just like a loot drop, which then resets you axe throw counter. Sometimes it bugs out and you can't grab the one you tossed, but it doesn't impact your retaining of the weapon after each mission. I find it really comes in handy in conjunction with the Alien Hunter class mod, since they get silent throw as one of their upgrade perks. If you can manage to land a killing blow with your axe throw, and then position yourself correctly it really helps with some of the infiltration missions.

RANGER SMASH! I'm going to try making a Shinobi squad. I want to see if clearing maps without getting revealed is possible. I use a mod that make silencer kills "silent". I'll back them up with a sniper with a silenced weapon. Should be interesting... I know the one. It's possible, but you need luck, and every kill raises the chances of you blowing your cover anyway.

So, finally played through the mission of the DLC that allowed me to start building SPARK robots. Should be interesting. I wonder when the Alien Hunters mission is triggered. Say Pyrceval78 , seeing as you are playing LW2 as well, what is your strategy in regards to "advisors" for resistance havens? Which class is most advantageous? Are you using high level soldiers? Low level ones? Can you change their gear while they are stationed there? Do they gain XP? As far as advisors, I actually look at it this way, its what class can I do without in my usable roster and can still be effective at lower levels? Of course, you can always rotate them. They will gain xp from the invasion missions yes. So anyway, I tend to drop either grenadiers or technicals in that role for the simple reason that grenadiers, technicals, and sparks can all provide the same basic function in a firefight-nuke shit. So, either of them in the advisor role gives you some nice splody AOE ability in the haven defense missions as well. Of course, everyone has their own tastes. Ive seen folks use sharpshooters very well for advisors too. Let your haven scrubs scout the field during the defenses and let the sharpshooter just pick stuff off. This BSN playthrouigh though Ill just drop in some random soldiers I have in those roles that arent BSN folks

Today we took a major step to liberating our first region, by tackling the communications tower they use to mind control folks and keep their soldiers going...here we go... This is why I love the reaper ability..all those puddles of blood around? yup, I did that... Meanwhile, Vortex13 blows some shit up @galaxyshimmers nails a guy from downrange but the enemy does return fire pretty well Just as regack takes out that turret... the enemy tries to 'Surprise motherfucker' us... but OtterRegack and shimmers turn the tables on them then this big motherfucker pinned me down... but a one two punch from Otter and Vortex13 put a stop to that. Allowing us to hack the tower and then... BOOOM bitches!

Very nice. I did that mission for the first time yesterday, it was very frustrating with the constant reinforcements, especially since my guys were relatively low level.
It can be, and is definitely a case of bring your best and best mixture since you are limited to 5 spots. As you see, I ran a 'tank' (spark) a multi-killer (shinobi with reaper) a psi and medic for backup and a ranger for mid range covering. Works pretty well for me. You could easily sub in a few different builds for this run, but you want support, oh shit healz me plz, someone that soaks damage and someone that can take multiple enemies in one move.

Looking forward to see how you fare with your legions of robotic warriors supplementing the squishy meat-bags of XCOM. Too bad they didn't have SHIVs in Long War 2, then your army would be complete. Side note, how snarky is JULIAN-Vortex 13 being? One of my favorite lines of his is when being targeted by enemy fire: "Yes, waste your bullets on the ROBOT."

While the rest of the crew was making a move on the regional facility (coming soon! lol) the enemy made a move on our regional HQ... @cristina rushes in to save a civilian... except...thats no civilian... and he brought a big ass friend... Vortex13 makes with the splodeys @vella puts a bullet through where the things heart should be... and Gecko rushes around to the flank and get the drop on the big ass friend... Serza splatters the mook trying to sneak up on gecko The good Dr. Vanity does the same for regack... while she bestows her own brand of wisdom on a bitch letting Cristina go be scary as shit again... while Vella makes a perfect shot to take out the last enemy bot.... and our HQ is saved. but...why is gecko sitting on vortex? Vortex is not chair, gecko.
