I noticed them but thought BW just put it there because they wanted to show off animated clothing or in this case straps... Not that that isn't something that's been around on PC games for a Decade or more.
I had no idea what they were for but quickly decided they wern't interesting. They could also be there for attaching something...

If you look he has the same kind of straps going around his sides that connect to the O2 pack on his back. Not sure what kind of equipment I'd strap to my butt but I figure they're for practical reasons lol.

I think they're there too show off that they can do it in the first place ("the hair still isnt moving, but look at those strap thinghies!"). They could be used to carry something extra on your back, like a big weapon or something you find? |

I found the dangling straps to be distracting. I spent my viewing time looking at the great visuals all around the cavern, but I also found that I had to intentionally NOT look at Ryder's rear end because of those bouncing loose straps. I just don't want to play a game character where I have to avoid looking at them. This issue really bugs me. If I were 'polishing' the game, then that's where I'd start.

I wasn't aware of any butt straps prior to this thread. I leave this thread a more rounded person, I guess.  They really do seem strange. They appear to be attaching the belt to the leg pieces, but I have no guess as to why. So that makes them garter straps?  |
