A random thought occurred to me.
It is established pretty clearly and unambiguously that Scourge is attracted to active Remnant tech. Heck, the way we get rid of a significant amount of Kett fleet at the ending is using Remnant ships to attract the Scourge and pull it through Kett formation.
So the question is - now that Meridian is active, is it going to be a Scourge magnet? The biggest, shiniest and very active piece of Remnant tech there is?
I am almost sure that Scourge is going to become a much bigger problem than it already is.

For being the direct cause of so many of the AI's problems, the Scourge played very little role in the ME:A plot. The kett were the antagonists, with a few Roekaar thrown in for variety, and the Scourge was mostly...just sort of there. A passive obstacle. I don't think Khi Tasira would've contained the bit about the Jardaan's "opposition" deploying the Scourge if it wasn't going to come up in future plots.

Meridian was ejected for a reason. I have no doubt it's going to be a target.

Lots of planets have Remnant tech, and the Scourge targets it all. I think the only Scourge Meridian has to worry about is the Scourge that's closest to it.
We saw in the final battle that Scourge is attracted simply to the closest Remnant source around. Not necessarily the most powerful.

Lotta Scourge around the system, but doesn't appear to be attracted to Meridian... yet.

I don't think Khi Tasira would've contained the bit about the Jardaan's "opposition" deploying the Scourge if it wasn't going to come up in future plots. Of course it was used as a passive obstacle. That's entirely what it is. It does target nearby rem-tech, but it's mostly a celestial minefield. (Nice analogy, Liam.) It is omnipresent in the game, though. We see it nearly everywhere in space, and it's even threaded through Remnant technology planetside. I agree that it's definitely going to be a major focus down the road. An early conversation with Kallo provides nice foreshadowing, I think. He says that the Scourge must either be eliminated, or its effects must be negated/accounted for by some future tech developments. I feel that removing the Scourge would be a logical, late-story goal for a future game.
