I would call the whole dilemma of MEA an "instant gratification problem".
About every aspect that represents RPG features is gutted in MEA. Does it make the game more accessible? Shure, but at a cost.

I simply don't understand that this game has sudoku puzzles in them. Also gathering raw materials for most is a trouble of doing so you can make augments or your own weapons/armor. Everything has to be delivered on a golden platter!

Open world but no fetch quests please, so mask the fetch quests with cinematics. Not masking a few fetch quests, mind you, all of them cinematic please!

I have never seen a game so accommodated in making it easy to achieve your goals thru patches. The balance of substance vs instant gratification is broke. The multinationals made sure customers are hooked via instant gratification but the product suffers for it becoming hollower and hollower.

The fact that Bioware is making a non-RPG title is telling.
