I wonder if they are going to fix that mismatch when (if?) they update the CC. Swapping presets 8 and 9 would kind of do the trick already. Not a perfect match, but better than how it is now. Actually all they really need to do is match skin tones to make it more believable. That could be my character's dad believably if the skin tone was close like within one slider of her tone. Parents and children don't always have a resemblance. My brother looks like my grandfather and not like either parent. So really the only thing you need is to match the skin at this point. Mainly when the mother has pretty dark skin herself. It's not believable at all that they would have a fair skin child. I'm not sure why they match the eyes but not the skin. Especially when the skin can be changed dramatically from very light to very dark. Bioware were really stretching it when they told us all family members can be customizable and bear resemblance. It's only just the father and the son. BroRyder has none of thse problems.

Here's my Ryder's Father and Daughter pics. I will admit it was a little jarring when I first saw him. They don't even try to make pops look like you. You pic a preset head number that they match for that is your father. End of story. Oh actually that isn't correct. They match the eyes perfectly. The rest, not so much. So I am not playing a pair of twins that were adopted. That is a cute femRyder. I want to kiss her. Ok that got weird fast...

I've not encountered issues with the CC's random generated father thus far, so seems I've been lucky. I've always went out of my way to customise both Ryder siblings in my playthroughs (no idea if that affects the outcome) and Alec Ryder has resembled his son in all of them. First Playthrough:Scott Alec Second Playthrough:Sara Alec

Alec isn't randomly generated, there are presets for Alec matched to the player presets. Some of the Alec presets match, more or less, the player presets. Others like Sara preset 9 aren't even remotely similar. That's why you can get some really weird combinations.

Yeah just depends which preset you pick and whether you play as Scott or Sara.

a feature where BW just screwed up conclusion: a feature not worth having, BW could have used their ressources elsewhere... like more Asari heads

Well, since DadRyder luckily kicks the bucket very early in the game, it isn't a big issue. For me, at least.

Really drives home how much I wish they made the CC more versatile. Not that I don't like your Ryder. It's just strange to me how he could quite literally be a twin for mine. Some minor changes. Hazel instead of blue eyes... eh its easier to show than tell. But yeah those two heads you have usually do well with the parent. The female ones are iffy especially head 9 I think.

I've always went out of my way to customise both Ryder siblings in my playthroughs (no idea if that affects the outcome) and Alec Ryder has resembled his son in all of them. That's no luck. See my previous post. Alec would ALWAYS match Scott (because he's based on the number of the male head matching the PC preset), I don't' think it's even possible to customise him so that there won't be any resemblance at all. The reason it works for your 'oriental' Sara is that her twin (the one sharing the same preset number) is oriental too. Hence - it's ok. For some BW-knows-what reasons, Sara #9 (arguably the most popular European\slavic female head) has a negroid #9 twin. Obviously, people pick her custom brother among the more fitting candidates, but the system IGNORES the choice. Because it always does. #9 PC Sara + #4 NPC Scott --> 'daddy #9'.

Didn't fallout 4 even manage to get this right? Frankly they could have just dialed up the Sims Division and asked how they do it. The family usually looks pretty dead on when you procreate in that series. It's been pretty solid too since sims 2 IIRC.
