(Spoilers for the Kadara arc) So inspired by the other thread here, I really think it'd be cool if Bioware made Sloane Kelly a potential LI. I think it was a totally missed opportunity in this game. I find it strange they make Reyes a romance option but not Sloane given that you have to side with one or the other at the end of the arc . It just makes me question Bioware's insight. They could have gone for an interesting dynamic. She's the most prominent black woman in the entire ME universe after Maya Brooks ( who only appears in a DLC) and Bioware still couldn't make her available. Lore-wise a lot of people say Sloane has an aggro temperment but after saving her life she clearly is softening up to Ryder. She doesn't trust the Nexus leadership, but she still trusts YOU because she feels grateful . She's not a clinical psychopath, Just someone who doesn't easily trust people, which makes complete sense in a star cluster isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Everyone on Kadara, even those who don't agree with her, such as Dr. Nakamoto, believe Sloane isn't mindlessly heartless and actaully cares for the people around her. Just interacting and joking with her post-Kadara, you clearly see the future potential redemption of her characther. (Imo, having read the prequel book I don't think she needs any turnaround). They could have atleast gave us an nudge. I see a lot of potential in a sequel/DLC, especially for those who sided with her Also it must be coincidence that the VA for Sloane also VAed for Vivienne from Dragon Age (who is also unable to be romanced). |

While I agree with a lot of what you are saying, particularly about her character development, I think she couldn't be a romance option because she is already involved with Kaetus.

She's already taken.
But, saving a love interests life is such a common romance trope, I could see it.
I didn't realize she had the same voice actress as Vivienne. Maybe the actress doesn't want to do romances? Sometimes the writers don't want to, and so those characters just don't become options.

Who say's Ryder can't have a threesome with Sloane and Keatus, she certainly seems like the type for it. Plus, new forms of relationships = Diversity.

As others mentioned, she's pretty much taken, but it would have nice if given the option. That's one of the things that attracted me to Miranda...she was such a badass and thought she could be a biatch to anybody. I had to romance her and break that a$$ down real quick.... ....  ....the same would have happened to Sloane....all she needs is some stiff backshots to calm that a$$ down.... .....not sure what Keatus got goin' on, but maybe his thang is long and prickly with spikes coming out of it!....  |

I fell for Sloane the first time I heard her voice. I did not immediately recognize it was Indira Varma, who I've had a crush on since her appearance in Kama Sutra (the movie). But any character she voices gets my attention and interest.
I also love her character design and would romance her in a heartbeat, if she wasn't already involved. I'd romance her and Kaetus together.
But what I really wish was that they put more development into her character in game. I really wanted more involved interaction with her, especially given the choice they had us make.

She definitely cares about Kaetus, but she cares about everyone in her circle generally. That's her characther.
Even inquiring Kaetus about their relationship, he brushes off the notion that they're a couple and tells Ryder to mind his business.
I don't know.
It definitely hints something of an extensive past history, but not entirely a relationship (correct me I'm wrong). I mean most couples admit that they're couples if they're official.
Figures that Bioware would give a possible romance option a predetermined LI... How many prominent NPCs are even given predetermined LIs in Mass Effect?
But still Bioware should give us an option by way of an off-screen death for Kaetus. I notice Kaetus doesn't die in either choice for Kadara.

I just found it conincidental that Bioware hired the same actress to voice a prominent Black female character in 2 of their game series. And both characters have basic potential to be LIs... Some folks were surprised and annoyed at Vivienne not being an option considering she's a possible companion, and you can actually flirt with her. |
