Is the free trial already live? Or will it start when the patch is released?

I wonder if its going to shift the momentum of the game at all. It will be nice for those still playing the game a year later, but will it attract any new purchases?

Uninstalled and currently re-downloading.
Never had an issue with the original release, or any of the subsequent patches.
This is my penance for being happy about a Walk toggle.

I was one of the suckers that bought this game on launch day on PC, and played it for 1 or 2 months before I stopped. How has the game improved since then?

As I mentioned above, I never really had issues with it. Although - I didn't buy it immediately on launch, but waited for the first post-launch patch. Today marks the first actual problem I've had with the game.

I got burned at launch too. In the period of the refund window I had a save game corruptions, several crashes to desktop, and the final straw was the opening mission where you are going through Night City and have to shoot at the van screwed up and got stuck. Of course if you say this in certain spots there is nothing wrong with the game and it was just me looking for a reason to hate it.

Meanwhile, I’m just here having loved it on Xbox, having played it about six months after launch and counting down the hours until I get to experience the joys of night city once again... Honestly, I love this game. As somebody who never jumped on the CDPR hype train and never got the appeal of the Witcher franchise, I loved every second of my first play through. I did not experience any problems on my series X (admittedly because I did not start playing until the very end of the release cycle, so most of the bugs were ironed out) and I am sooooo freaking stoked to dig into this patch and looking forward to the upcoming new content!

The reinstall didn't work. I'd been annoyed with the way my new PC had been set up by the place I bought it from, though, so I just reinstalled Windows and then CP and it works fine, now. Also had to redownload MELE, so there's about 300GB downloaded in one day

That must make updating modern games (whether or not you buy them digitally), a real pain. It does, but I have learned to roll with the punches. The one thing that still bugs me is massive day 1 patches for when I buy a game as a new release I do it mostly for the pre-load window. So then I kick myself for pre-ordering.

Spent around 4 hours so far. This patch has massively improved the polish and open world reactivity of the game. Traffic and crowd AI are actually better. It seems to look better as well, maybe they added some environmental effects. But it's also more demanding imo. I'll be waiting for the Digital Foundry analysis. Also, not a single bug yet. I'm on PC.

I'm on PC. RT is reworked. So the higher settings of RT, especially Shadows, now add more effects and thus are more demanding. Lowering them should bring the visuals and performance to how it was before the patch. As the changes are many, it's possible the optimization is also out of whack and will have to be polished with more patches.

Started a new playthrough last night on PC. No bugs so far, runs rather smooth on my 2016 PC (no ray tracing for me though).
But then again, it ran mostly problem free for me right out of the box over a year ago. Maybe my box of tin and silicon is somehow blessed.

Interesting. I'm not finding it more demanding. At least, not so far. Running 4K and high or ultra for most settings (except clouds, because who the hell cares about clouds?) with ray tracing on the second highest (forget whether its called High or Ultra, but the top level is Psycho). It is - so far - handling like a dream. Steady frame rates except in hugely demanding scenes like a crowded intersection.

I'm on PC. The Jinguji where the side quest Bullets takes place is still bugged after the quest is finished. The lights inside the store stay permanently red. It's not game breaking but I find it quite annoying because I really like the store interior and the red lights kind of ruin it. I've also encountered some NPC models t-posing and spazzing out in Lizzie's Bar. The new update added ray-traced local light shadows so I'm getting a huge performance hit with ray-tracing enabled. My average framerate is now 10-20 FPS lower than before. For some reason, having resizable-BAR enabled also decreases the performance with my 3090. I think it's better to leave it disabled for now in the BIOS.

Went from Cobra Kai on Netflix to a low-key Karate Kid marathon (loving them so far) to listening to this guy's podcasts on Japanese history to watching The Last Samurai (popping that good old non-BR DVD into the good old regular-ass PS4 Amateur like the reluctant millennial I am) to watching The Outsider on Netflix again (and loving that too) to finally wanting to get back into Cyberpunk 2077! ...On the very day CD Project Red rolled out a patch that corrupts the game's installation data on the PS4, rendering it instantly unplayable. Bringing my budding yellow fever to a screeching halt. Sigh. I was one of the ones who felt more "burned" by the game's design choices than the console graphic fidelity on launch day, but this is getting ridiculous. Does CD Project Red not own a last-gen console? Like, not even in a dusty corner somewhere for some thankless intern to playtest on just to be able to say they did it when the lawsuits start coming in? Back to TW3, then. I guess there's something vaguely Samurai-ish about Geralt in the Ursine Armor with the flabby robe part (there's a word for that that isn't 'skirt' which escapes me at the moment), ponytail and the two swords? Right? Maybe it's just me?
