Thanks! It was calm. It's a place called Holden Beach at the very bottom of North Carolina. We rented a house on the beach so it was nice to just walk through the yard and you're there. Sitting on the porch in the mornings with coffee was relaxing and got to see some dolphins again. Evenings were the opposite: drink beer and liquor while sitting out there. It was great. Could do without all the bugs though. My arms and legs are riddled with tiny bites 

I'm an animal lover and grew-up learning as much as I could about them. Reading up on animals was one of my favorite pasttimes. I still love learning random animal facts.

I tend to forget my stuff around. At the moment my phone is at work. Forgot it there last wednesday. I have two pair of glasses just in case. Often they're both missing. My family is pretty annoyed by this trait of mine, I fail to see why. It's not their stuff that's missing is it?

I was fine with flying until two years ago; now I am scared of flying. And there is a 4.5 hour flight in my near future.

Bought a new pair of dress shoes on the weekend (among other things). They were 30% off but still more expensive than I will usually be willing to play for shoes. I do have to say they are very comfy and cushiony so far, we'll see if they hold up to long term wear and tear.

One of my favorite hobbies is metalworking. I have a small forge, and occasionally like to pound out simple knives, tools and the like. Here's a relatively period Medieval blade I completed a while back, there's actually a bit of a story behind it:

Just browsing this thread and found your post, so I'll share something:
I've been there too, I had problems with sleep, still have it from time to time. Mainly because of stress, or at least I think so.

Anyway, I read about it a bit when I was trying to do something about it, and here are a few things to consider for people who have problems sleeping and falling asleep (some of those things helped me considerably):

- if you watch tv, using any kind of monitors, smartphones late, your brain is hoodwinked by the amount of blue light from monitors and/or LED light, it thinks that it's still day, so it causes problems with falling asleep fast. You can avoid that by using orange glasses, or filter for smartphone like Twilight

- if you're overstressed or have a lot to think about, you have to tell yourself firmly that "sure, I'll think about it OK... but just not now, not today, maybe tomorrow"; otherwise problems guaranteed

- some medicines might help too, like natural pills that contain Valerianae Radix en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerian_(herb)
