All 'WTF WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT' and no ' YAY that thing that's awesome' [...] I quote this because it's such an important point. I am a huge, HUGE believer in games that allow and ENCOURAGE the player to FEEL AWESOME. This is a huge, HUGE deal in tabletop RPGs which is my other passion (even moreso than videogames if you can believe it) -- and unfortunately in both TTRPGs and videogames there are a lot of designers and players who believe in punishing players for attempting to have fun, who create rules systems that make it hard to succeed and be awesome, etc. It is actually surprising to me that in today's world of feelings and safe spaces and participation trophies that we have so many games that are HORRIBLY CRUEL to players' dreams of awesomeness. If you design games -- unless you are designing for a specific masochistic niche -- please design for fun and awesomeness. It's so much better to make people feel happy and powerful than it is to make them feel annoyed and powerless. Cthulu D20... Roll a D20 and either die or go insane. My friends and I play the GURPS system. I love it's flexibility. Has some realism to it, but you can make anything from street level adventures to epic, cosmic based adventures. I'm currently running a Gothic/Cosmic Horror Steampunk game. Lol.

I'm surprised you assumed PUGS knew anything about game mechanics. IT IS not their fault bioware keeps its player base in the dark ... sums up AndDramaDuh pretty well. 3MP: oh cool guys we'll take that back and do some balancing /fixing with it/ since it was awesome we left it in. AMP: WHY ARE YOU IN OUR SAFE SPACE I'M CALLING CAMPUS SECURITY RIGHT NOW YOUR TENTURE IS MINE is amazing.

JRandall0308I'm to lazy to look but, how many questions did you ask, & how many were satisfactorily answered?

Asked 11, 6 were answered. You'll have to judge for yourself how many were answered satisfactorily.
See OP and open spoiler for details.

If you have the time to do this again this week, could you ask Bioware about changing the nature of the 'random map' and 'random enemy' lobby options?
It's really irritating to finally find a random/random Gold lobby only to have the first two or three games all feature the same enemy or, slightly less annoyingly, the same map. I've even had three consecutive games in a single random lobby feature the same enemy and map.
I think it would be better if it was made impossible to play against the same enemy and/or map in consecutive games from within a random lobby. I realise my solution is technically not random but it's superior to the current system and, if I remember correctly, is the same as that used in ME3.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.

MEA would have definitely cost me a new keyboard by now. Maybe a monitor too. Thinking about that, I kinda need a new monitor. When MEA gets Humble Bundled with Peggle for a dollar, it might finally be worth it!

I think what you want to ask about would be a fundamental change to game mechanics, which seems pretty unlikely to get any traction. a random/random Gold lobby only to have the first two or three games all feature the same enemy or, slightly less annoyingly, the same map --> There are only 3 enemy factions so the chances of getting them multiple times in a row is going to be perceived as high. There are also only 6 (?) maps so again, pretty good chances of getting streaks of them which will be perceived as not random (even though it actually is). if it was made impossible to play against the same enemy and/or map in consecutive games from within a random lobby --> So that's not just "technically" not random, that's "not random, period". What you are proposing is essentially: "Make a deck of cards with enemies and maps, one per card. Don't reshuffle the deck until it is exhausted." Alternative analogy, "Make it work like the Shuffle option on an iPod" (which won't repeat songs until you've listened to them all). But... how do we count this? Does it go by the player doing the hosting? For that host player, it might work pretty well, but for players dropping into the lobby from other lobbies they could hit the same enemy/map as in the lobby they just left, and therefor not perceive this as any improvement. Now back to my previous analogy... a "playlist" feature would be pretty cool. The host could choose the order of enemies/maps and it could be listed somewhere. When you enter the lobby you see where you are in the playlist and what's coming up. "Eh, I don't really like Remnant on Icebreaker but the next three songs games sound fun so I'll stay here." Again though this is a fundamental change to game mechanics so I consider it pretty unlikely.

The difference being you'd *N+1 and excluding N where N is map and mans type and while that is literally just a line or two of code; it should just be a line frankly a first year coder could do, but this is AMP we're talking about, so it's probably in two different places and can't be data generated because [insert some incredibly obtuse reason involving rng and or "cheat protection" (lol)].
In this instance it looks literally random, which no one actually tends to like when picking things.

xaijin I'm not arguing that the function is easy to write, I'm arguing that this is a gameplay decision they would have to make. For whatever reason dating back to ME3 and continued in DAI, they've never given us proper control over random vs. 'playlist' vs. checkboxes of what you do/don't want. (That is my dream: ex. in ME3 I'd like to un-check Geth because fuck Geth but check every other enemy, and un-check Condor because glitchy, but check every other map. Then let my 'random' selection be from that sub-list.) = = = Anyway I've got the new round of questions being worked, I'll make the new thread (#6 !) later today.
