My male shepard has the default look since I can never seem to get a good looking customized Shepard in 3. Anyone else have issues with that character creator? Everyone has. Not with the CC per se, but with the CC lighting. Should also remind you that intro scene is the worst scene to test the custom head. Since you're on console it's a good idea to wait for the Mars or Citadel arrival even. Nothing looks right in that prologue, really. the mouth seems particularly bad during the start of the game. The animations for talking don't get much better though. -shrug-

^ In light of that, Rob Pearson in the Playstation Access channel over at Youtube said it best, I think: [...] I'm stuck with trying to outcool default Shepard and... really, look at him! What's the point of even trying? Mark Meer's voice coming out of any other than the granite-carved Adonis that is Mark Vanderloo - google him, seriously - just doesn't seem right, does it?Well, it made me laugh anyway. And though I've finally managed to create a M!Shep that's decent looking (to me anyway), the fact that it took me months and lots of trial and error only kind of proves his point. XD And, since we're at the Kaidan thread, here's some fan art goodness. Kaidan kicking ass. Source: mymasseffectworld.blogspot.com

I know the ending is taboo still, but what ending do yall prefer for a Kaidan romance? I feel like Destroy seems to be the only ending I can pick cause then I can imagine Kaidan finding Shepard and them reuniting. I'd prefer the happy ending mod though, if I was on pc.

I have always picked destroy. From the very beginning, years before ME3 even existed, I believed our mission was to destroy the reapers. I've never been able to talk myself into any other ending. The fact that Kaidan said to me "I can't lose you again" and "Don't leave me behind." Yeah, I want every chance to get back to him. Destroy lets me believe that I did make it back to him.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but, as much as I want my Shep to be with Kaidan, I can't pick Destroy because of Edi and the Geth. So I go with Control and then I headcanon that the Shep!AI finds a way - either creating a platform for itself or creating a clone. I know there are problems with the idea (like, a lot of them), but one can dream. Speaking of endings, there are three really nice pics to go with all three of them. As the tag says: Because they would always find a way. (Note: it's M!Shep/Kaidan in this case) Source: archiveofourown.org/works/446238 I recommend reading the ficlets that go with the pics too.

I'm one of those abominations who have picked all three endings in different playthroughs. Control twice because of the paragon/renegade difference. (I refuse Refuse, though.) But I'd rather we not get bogged down in End Debates. There's enough of that everywhere else. Get it? "Abomination" because my avatar...? ...No? *face-palm*

what ending do yall prefer for a Kaidan romance? By the moment I've reached my first ME3 ending it was ~4am. The worst thing about that experience - I had no idea what to do next. I was one step away from the Synthesis, really. Same as many pre-EC players I had no idea that simple walkiinig around the room may be that dangerous. I know couple of people who simply walked forward and ended up vanishing into the f*ing beam. I was making a spoiler-free run, but a good friend of mine had hinted that one has to play MP for TMS, and that I would want to have at least 5k ('just in case, no details'). I had much more + 100% rating, because I was paranoid about losing someone. Somehow I managed to figure that right path looks most like destroying something (because they ahd all those explosions and it was somewhat red, don't ask ). , I can't pick Destroy because of Edi and the Geth Not a problem for me, in my canon PT Tali does not survive the Suicide Mission, and it's impossible to have a peace on Rannoch without her. This 'blue option' has one of the most twisted and questinoable logic if you ask me, but whatever. I have to make a choice, and it's quarians. Hate those dumbass people, but can't kill them all. Normally it's 'start the upload->Change my mind--> get attacked by Legion'. As for EDI, she was the least of my problems after that first PT. Anyone who remembers the vanilla sequence would understand that. Basically, player was totally unaware about what and whom had been destroyed by the red blast. Original Starbrat's lines strongly implied that Shep is also partly synthetic. Drive cores, implants (including biotics) could have been affected. Theories varied from falling back into 'dark age' with every cirquit board burned down and to 'nothing bad really happened'. I never play the MEHEM, but I've got a steady headcanon version of what happens after. It does not include Jungle Planets and Evacnooows, and it does involve reuniting with Kaidan.

Although I would never pick any of the other endings I would never begrudge that to anyone else. What fits me is not for everyone and I totally get that and respect it. Plus is has no affect on my game I have many unpopular opinions of things in this game so I would not look down my nose at someone choosing a different ending to their story. Has everyone done the Leviathan dlc? I just wonder how everyone liked the nod your romance gets in it. It was a nice touch.

Yeah, and it was a nice touch. Little things like that can really make having a romance in the game more fun.

I really liked the Cortez romance addition there, and Kaidan's was good too. What I really enjoyed though about that dlc was that between parts of the main quest you got new banter on the Normandy. It was very well done!

I know that the story of me3 can be seen as a total clusterfrak but nowadays I just like to switch off my mind and go with the flow. The atmosphere of the dlc is great, cinematics are really good, so is the finale. And, as you have mentioned the interactions with LI (and others) are there and those are precious :]

I really enjoyed the DLC as well. I liked that it was occurring in more than one area and there was more to do than just shoot stuff. The investigation stuff and all the banter, I really liked it a lot. For all the companions.
Who does everyone like to include in the party make up with Kaidan?
In ME1 I like to have Kaidan and Ashley or Wrex for the chit chat with each other. As for combat I like Kaidan and Liara for all the biotics! And in ME3 my go to is almost always Kaidan and Garrus.

I tend to pair squadmates depending on what mission I'm doing. In ME1 it's a bit more varied and I don't spend too much time on the Citadel anymore, but in ME3 (with my preferred Vanguard build) I go with Kaidan/Liara or Kaidan/EDI -- tech and biotic detonations everywhere. Speaking of chit-chat, I love how they referenced old elevator talks in the Citadel DLC, on the Normandy elevator: Wrex: Remember when I asked you who would win in a fight between you and Shepard and you thought it was a pointless question? Kaidan: I really hoped you had forgotten about that. Wrex: Look at the bright side, now you'll finally get your answer.

If my Shepard is a vanguard (which is almost always ), I go with Garrus because, if the ME1 stats are to be believed, the three of them complement each other nicely. In fact, Garrus and Kaidan are my final run team in the first and third game (and feeling that Shepard's making the final stand with the people meaning the most to him / her is a bonus) . However, I have to admit that Kaidan and Liara make a biotic team to be feared (their combos are awesome, especially in the third game). If I play soldier, he seems to work really well with Tali and EDI. I do like putting him with Vega, too, though mostly for the interactions. Huh, I seem to pair him with everybody except with Wrex, come to think of it. Weird.

For me it's Kaidan and Garrus in 1 and 3 and Thane and Garrus on 2. I favor snipers so we all just hang back and pour on the heat.

In Me1, on my Kaidanmancing vanguard Shep, I love Ash/Kaidan or Wrex/Kaidan combo for both, dialogues and combat. I play her as Nemesis, so I really don't need Liara for biotic spam (and Wrex is surprisingly efficient with his Throw&Warp). Though I took her once for the final battle with husk-Saren just for giggles. I think I got a bit cautious of Kaidan/Garrus combo after my first pt when I took them with me to Therum, being completely underlevelled and massively under-appreciating the power of the neural shock. Let me just say I got really sick of the cutscene right before the Battlemaster fight (yay for no autosave after lenghty cutscene).
In ME2 I play with different setups quite a bit but Miri and Thane are my fav combo, especially against collectors.
In ME3 I like to take James/Kaidan team with me whenever I can. They are my two tanks whilst my girl is bouncing around the batlefield.

ME1 is pretty much only Kaidan and Wrex
ME3 was Kaidan and Vega for a long time, now it usually Kaidan and Javik.

Joker will get over EDI's death but EDI wouldn't. She will be around centuries after centuries when everyone is dead (control) or evolved into a more warped perfect-reaper-version of herself wanting the ultimate transcendence of everything in creation (synthesis). I like that Destroy defeat the notion that synthetics didn't value mortality as organics do. Leviathan AI didn't want to be destroyed and was begging Shepard to see its value. EDI talking about her fear of death which should be impossible since all synthetics are technically immortal. Geth leaving the Quarian ways for their children to live healthy and strong without the suits. The Catalyst is right about organics will always create synthetics, but it doesn't mean that the organics will retain their former prejudice after their sacrifice.
I always choose high EMS Destroy for Kaidan and Shepard. Kaidan already lost Shepard once and it tore him apart, he wouldn't want to live through it the second time. I do like the ambiguity at the end, Shepard is alive even at the heart of the blast. While Shepard's brain function are all organic but Shepard's body are part-synthetic. Nanites and implants fused with living, cloned and reconstructed cells and organs grafted over broken bones. Even after what happened to Earth and Citadel, there's a slim chance for Shepard to survive with basic equipment unless someone put her in a stasis until they could find a way to restore Shepard body fully.
I love being Infiltrator and Kaidan pair up nicely with Wrex in ME1 but I do love pair him up with Ashley too. In ME3, I used to pair him with Liara which made them formidable biotic team until I realized I only use her Warp and Singularity. Insanity ME3 is a lot forgiving than ME2 if you have mixed team so nowadays its Kaidan/James and Kaidan/EDI.

My team make up is usually based on the enemy type I'm facing. For Reapers I like Kaidan and Liara for lots of biotic explosions. They work well against Cerberus too for that matter. When going against the geth though I prefer Kaidan and Edi. I'm a fan of Tali too for that situation, but Edi has a better set of skills.

I liked the elevator conversations reference in the Citadel DLC too! I haven't personally gotten to see all of them yet. But I did watch a youtube vid of them. Pretty amusing. I know that some people didn't like the DLC because it was too campy/silly or the clone thing , but I really enjoyed it for what it was. And having Kaidan come to my rescue was fantastic!.

I replayed that solo part of Citadel soo many times it's embarrassing, but I just LOVE the chatter over the radio and the cutscene at the shuttle port. Citadel is my favorite dlc, hands down. I don't think it's meant to be taken serious, it's pure fan service .

^^ Uhh, and the music in that solo part. Absolutely fantastic. To be honest the trilogy itself is quite over the top at times, so I don't mind the general craziness of it (and I am sucker for banter). The only issue for me is trying to fit it with the pacing of the game (especially if you want to have everyone for the party). This takes a bit of mental gymnastics.

But his best line in the Citadel DLC was during the party, you side with Vega about his physical excellence and Kaidan caught the flirting and seem genuinely pissed off "Wow, Shepard.
