I liked the elevator conversations reference in the Citadel DLC too! I haven't personally gotten to see all of them yet. But I did watch a youtube vid of them. Pretty amusing. I know that some people didn't like the DLC because it was too campy/silly or the clone thing , but I really enjoyed it for what it was. And having Kaidan come to my rescue was fantastic!. I don't know if I wasn't paying attention or anything, but I only just noticed the elevator thing in my last ME3 PT. I had Garrus and Kaidan. Have to try out some other combos.

Citadel has: - the best cinematics - great music - great level\mission design (class-sensitive content, romance-sensitive content etc) - some great characters scenes (e.g Zaeed) - some hilarious gag-fest scenes and dialogues meant just 'for fun' - THE WORST IMMERSION-BREAKING AND MISFITTING PLOT EVER MADE
The latter is too critical for me, I've only played it once upon the DLC release. Prefer to think of it like 'one of those yellow press fake stories about The Shepard'.

I always, always, always play the citadel DLC last. In my fantasy, they come and find my Shepard, she and Kaidan and everyone else live happily ever after, and the Reapers are defeated. SUCK IT BIOWARE!

NRieh Avatar Sept 16, 2016 20:51:56 GMT -7 NRieh said: That was kind of exactly me. "NO NO, I didn't mean to do that!!!" Then I had to run through the ending all over again. BTW I just got nice carry on shoulder bag for a short trip. Good quality and good price, but it's BLUE. Not just blue, but sort of a bright BLUE. My first thought was "It matches Kaidan's armor, so it's like I'm carrying Kaidan's shoulder bag." That somehow makes it better

I've been missing Kaidan lately, which may mean yet another play through of Mass Effect. But I'm afraid I'll start, get halfway through and stop just like the other 68 games I've done that to lately

Was looking through some audiobooks and found some of Raphael Sbarge's audioblogs (he interviewed Mark Meer, Kimberley Brooks too). I've listened to them before but they're pretty funny when you read the transcripts. Jennifer: My hobbies are like, rock climbing and riding horses and you know, being outside and going and traveling and doing stuff, so, yeah. Yeah. Raphael: Wow. That makes you think of personal ads, of what people like. Jennifer: Oh, right, isn’t that funny? Raphael: Rock climbing … long walks on the beach… Jennifer: “Enjoys saving the universe, rock climbing, riding horses, quiet nights at home.” Raphael: Right. “Kicking Geth butt.” Right, yeah. Jennifer: That’s right. “Shooting multiple legions of bad guys at once.” Kimberly: Hey, I’m here. Hi. Raphael: [laugh] Hey. So, through the marvel of science, technology and conference calls, we’ve brought Kaidan and Ashley to you. Kimberly: Together, at last. Raphael: That BioWare has created, called Veda, I guess. You know, for anyone who doesn’t know, essentially, when we walk into these rooms, we’re there, you know, essentially locked in a room with double-paned, bullet-proof glass… Kimberly: For four hours, by yourself. Raphael: For four hours, all alone, you and your bottle of water and your imagination. Kimberly: With your bottle of water, or in Jennifer Hale’s case, her hot water. Raphael: Right, right, right. Running to the bathroom, because you keep trying to keep your voice, you know … Kimberly: Lubricated. --- and then this happened Raphael: And who knows what could happen. I mean, I know reading some of the last lines for me were, I know, I was feeling kind of like … you just sort of feel like a wave kind of crashes over you. You go: Wow. Wow. Wow. OK. So, now we’re done. I don’t know… Kimberly: I know, it’s a bit overwhelming because, yeah, like I said, it’s just, it’s a real world that we belong to. I mean, just like the characters in the game, you know, you don’t want to see it end. why am I traumatizing myself again... nooo

I probably already said that, but RS is the nicest VA I've ever encountered. Period.
Most VAs prefer to keep their distance and barely take part in all those 'off-screen' activities. They don't seem to be invested in their characters, like it's just yet-another-contract. Get the job done, go home. Some are assholes (e.g. Adam Howden, word 'toxic' suits his twitter). Some barely know what their characters are about (I'm looking at you, Ellis). RS had always been nice to our kind. And the way he and Jen are speaking about the VA in the videogames - they take it seriously, as a new way of art.
From what I know no other 'LI VA' had been that 'player-friendly'. And people recognize that and appreciate it. Is there anybody here remember the 'Kaidan's waiting' initiative? So - yeah, we love him, and he knows that.

*reads above post* *glances at my avatar* This is making me want to dip back into the trilogy from the beginning with a new character even though I have a run of ME3 I haven't been back to in a while... I have a character I've been thinking about (Kaidan romance, of course) and with N7 day near some replaying will be in order.

*glances at the avatar too* *then again* *then again* I know, right? 'Great VA' does not always mean 'nice&friendly person who is open to their fan-base'. E.g. Hale talks much about her characters, I've seen her interviews about their working on Bioshock:Infinite, and those were great (as was her acting for the game). Not many VAs are like that.

Not many VAs are like that. haha, no, I can't say I'm bothered by it. I don't know Howden personally, obviously, and I'm not on twitter but I don't expect every actor to be a "people person." They are not synonymous. From some interviews and fan interactions I've come across he seemed fine. He has a sorta biting snark and admitted to mouthing off on twitter more than he should -- but this was years ago. Hypothetically (not to excuse whatever behavior you're referring to) if I was the voice of Anders, a character that is not only routinely vilified but generally accepted to be a "monstrous pile of shit" by the fandom (and yep, BioWare is guilty too), I doubt I'd be pleasant either. Hell, just being an Anders fan alone swears me off most of the fandom. Fans can be assholes too. Besides, this is just priceless:

I recently found out that Raphael Sbarge contribute his voice narrating Melinda M. Snodgrass' Blood Ties which is a short story from GRR Martin's scifi anthology Wild Cards V : Down and Dirty. Its a story about a French-accented mind-controlling alien-doctor-Godfather trying to parent his grandchild, fight a plague and prevent a bloodbath in his neighbourhood. Very fun three hours spend on listening to the story and also appreciating how superbly talented Mr Sbarge is. I always love how his voice can be rough, raspy and at times, youthful but I didn't realize that he have massive emotional range, do flawless French, British and Russian accents and switching between male and female characters. He could alter atmospheric intensity of the scene simply by subtly changing how he articulate each words and I even caught myself wondering "Wait, is this neutral-sounding woman Raphael Sbarge? *Raphael switch to Tachyon and his raspy voice return* oh god he's a chameleon." I love it when audiobooks were made wonderful by really talented people. I think Sbarge took the fanbase reception to his characters as a compliment and isn't that weirded out that much (since people mostly associate Kaidan with Luciano Costa). I like that the exposure have been good to his acting career and he's still popular as Archie among OUAT fanbase.

True, he's a real actor and his 'natural' voice does not really sound like Kaidan, and Carth sounds different too. He works with the timber, intonations and tempo all the time. Troy Baker on the other hand always sounds like Troy Baker to me (as much as I enjoy The Voice) Actually, people still had no idea about Costa long enough after ME3 release. I rememebr how someone had brought his pic into the 'bigger boot' BSN thread for the first time, and it was a surprise. Can't tell the exact timing, must be late 2012-early 2013. The people's reaction was different. Some of it had been like 'who da hell is that guy and why is he wearing Kaidan's face?'. Sbarge had been 'Kaidan' to us long before Costa aknowledged his part in ME3 and got some attention with it. From what I know he had nothing to do with ME1\2 modelling anyway (might be wrong on this one, correct me if you know for certain). ps: Ha! I've got that timing! Here's a picture that came by in a 'Bigger Boot' thread on July 24 2012 (EC had already been released), it pretty much summs up how it's been.
