Oh god.. that make me laugh despite my sore throat (ouch). I'm fairly new to the fandom (late 2014)so I have no idea what happened before (I'm Fenris/Alistair fan before this ) I've listened to Costa's interview. He mentioned he knew his features was used in a game but no idea what until much later. He commented on how the earlier version didn't actually look like him but ME1's Kaidan's skeletal structure does fit him. Before I learn about Mass Effect series, I already love Sbarge for years through OUAT. Probably the most memorable episode in the series and always make me cry. Love that everyone rejoice his return to the show. And its fun looking through his filmography and realize he's been in a lot of tv shows that I watched before. A little bit of Alenko in my life.

Was looking through some audiobooks and found some of Raphael Sbarge's audioblogs (he interviewed Mark Meer, Kimberley Brooks too). I've listened to them before but they're pretty funny when you read the transcripts. Jennifer: My hobbies are like, rock climbing and riding horses and you know, being outside and going and traveling and doing stuff, so, yeah. Yeah. Raphael: Wow. That makes you think of personal ads, of what people like. Jennifer: Oh, right, isn’t that funny? Raphael: Rock climbing … long walks on the beach… Jennifer: “Enjoys saving the universe, rock climbing, riding horses, quiet nights at home.” Raphael: Right. “Kicking Geth butt.” Right, yeah. Jennifer: That’s right. “Shooting multiple legions of bad guys at once.” Kimberly: Hey, I’m here. Hi. Raphael: [laugh] Hey. So, through the marvel of science, technology and conference calls, we’ve brought Kaidan and Ashley to you. Kimberly: Together, at last. Raphael: That BioWare has created, called Veda, I guess. You know, for anyone who doesn’t know, essentially, when we walk into these rooms, we’re there, you know, essentially locked in a room with double-paned, bullet-proof glass… Kimberly: For four hours, by yourself. Raphael: For four hours, all alone, you and your bottle of water and your imagination. Kimberly: With your bottle of water, or in Jennifer Hale’s case, her hot water. Raphael: Right, right, right. Running to the bathroom, because you keep trying to keep your voice, you know … Kimberly: Lubricated. --- and then this happened Raphael: And who knows what could happen. I mean, I know reading some of the last lines for me were, I know, I was feeling kind of like … you just sort of feel like a wave kind of crashes over you. You go: Wow. Wow. Wow. OK. So, now we’re done. I don’t know… Kimberly: I know, it’s a bit overwhelming because, yeah, like I said, it’s just, it’s a real world that we belong to. I mean, just like the characters in the game, you know, you don’t want to see it end. why am I traumatizing myself again... nooo I'd never heard this before. Thank you so much for sharing it here with us!

Uhm...you do realize that some men just don't have hairy-curly chests, right? It all depends on the racial backgorund and genes. I've never thought of Kaidan as a 'hairy' type, by the way.

^ I let him shoot Udina. I figured that someone could say 'Of course Shepard shot him, now Udina can't defend himself against the accusations of accessory to the coup', and that could fuel Kaidan's doubts again. On the other hand, allowing Kaidan to see for himself what Udina's trying to do and decide for himself what should be done (that is, to take the shot), it indirectly makes him see that, yes, Udina *is* helping the coup, Shepard is indeed telling the truth and Kaidan should have trusted Shepard all along.

How many of you made Kaidan shoot Udina? Just curious. Kaidan should have chest hair. That's all I'm saying! I always make Kaidan shoot Udina. I think it helps with the trust factor. If Shepard has to do it then it could still make him appear to be a Cerberus operative. If Kaidan does it, that shows Shepard trusts Kaidan completely.

Just once I let Kaidan to shoot Udina. First, because I'm very trigger-happy apparently (but only in games and renegade options ) Second, because of roleplaying (even my paragon Shepards tend to shoot when the menace is real) Edit: Third: because it was the perfect comeback to "nobody stabs me on the back, Udina, NOBODY"

Hm. Well I didn't really think about it that much. First time I was too worried about what Udina would do and took the shot myself. I have let Kaidan shoot Udina once, because I was curious to see what would happen if I didn't take the shot. Kaidan seemed kinda... torn up about it, and I don't want him feeling more guilty than he already does so I always take the shot. And I'll be honest, that renegade interrupt there is hard to deny.

^ I'll be the first to admit that the first time I allowed Kaidan to shoot, I felt quite bad too. Then, however, Shepard and he had a heart to heart before boarding the Normandy and I liked the dialogue. Shepard was there, supporting Kaidan, reassuring him he did the right thing, even if it was difficult - to quote it exactly, Shepard said that Kaidan acted 'with integrity'. In my mind, it looks like Kaidan feels that he acted against Alliance interests by shooting down the human Councilor, something that he hates; he *is* an Alliance soldier first and foremost. However, this is also the point where, with Shepard's help, he realises that, as long as one keeps their integrity (I like that word) intact, as in, they stay true to who they are in their heart, they can make some decisions that they're difficult or unpleasant, nevertheless they can still be the right ones. Kind of like how Shepard had to join Cerberus if it meant protecting human colonies. So, in Kaidan's mind, it drives home the point that yes, Shepard joined Cerberus, but s/he never betrayed the Alliance and humanity, not really - that it's still the Shepard that he befriended and fought alongside for the same ideals. That they *can* be friends and/or lovers again. I guess that's why he feels ready and asks Shepard to come back to the Normandy. Anyway, now I feel like I'm rambling. Sorry, these are some thoughts mixed with lots of headcanon, really.

I think I had only pulled the trigger once, during my first ME3 PT. It was a spolier-free run, and I was scared shitless that I might do something wrong and get him killed. I did not take any chances. The way I felt during the mission reminded me of my first Virmire, really. I was so nervous that I had almost missed the paragon interrupt (tell squad to put away their weapons).
Story-wise and character-wise I prefer Kaidan making a shot. I like it how Shep trusts Kaidan to make a choice of his own, knowhing that he's 'quite capable'(c)Liara, ready to cover him, yet not taking the initiative. Had he hesitated a little longer, she'd be the one to kill the bastard, but he did what he had to.

My Shepard always pulled the trigger except once (in my last playthrough) because i was curious to see what would happen. And i must admit that now i prefer to let Kaidan shoot Udina, it shows that Shepard trust him and i liked the dialogue they have before boarding the Normandy more.

I let him pull the trigger because I like the talk afterwards. If Shepard take the shot, the talk became "Shepard is always right" and I really don't want that for him. Kaidan: If I hadn't backed down first, I feel like you would have taken me out. >>> Shepard: I trusted you, and I knew you'd come around. That's all that matters. >>> Shepard: Doesn't matter. It could have played out a dozen different ways. Main thing is we stopped the coup and Cerberus is off the Citadel. Kaidan: But sometimes the way a thing goes down does matter, Shepard. Later, when you have to live with yourself. Knowing that you acted with integrity -- then it matters. Shepard: You're talking about Udina. You think he would have come in quietly? Kaidan, he gave you no choice. You had to take the shot. You acted with integrity. I saw the whole thing. Kaidan: All right. Thanks. Honestly, this conversation is puzzling. I didn't actually understand the context of what was said but it was one of those "he said something but he really mean it differently" subtext. He is right, if he didn't back down, either Shepard or someone in the squad would kill him. But the looks he gave to Shepard tell another story. He's not really talking about Udina (notice that he didn't nod but kept staring at Shepard), he's actually talking about the price of his honor. There's a lot of similar situation between them that he place his personal integrity first. He tried so hard to be a "good soldier" because he think it was the right thing but it does backfire on him. But he's not just a good soldier anymore, he's a Spectre. Besides, this is someone who once fiercely said "You bastard, you sold us out" to Udina. Super ironic.

However, Udina was also the motivator for Kaidan becoming a Spectre. He might have had mixed feelings there, like maybe he "owed" Udina something (which I suspect Udina was counting on) or that he wasn't worthy because Udina had ulterior motivations. Honestly, I think Kaidan does have what it takes to be a Spectre and he made a hard call. By not trusting Kaidan to take the shot it's like Shepard is saying "You're not fit to make this decision". By extension, it means he can't make the tough calls a Spectre has to make. So, yeah, Kaidan all the way with shooting Udina. It proves he's there to do the job he was given and isn't just an Alliance man anymore.

It proves he's there to do the job he was given and isn't just an Alliance man anymore. He definitely has what it takes to be a Spectre, though it's implied that Udina didn't think so. It's just a feeling I got after hearing Udina say something intriguing if you talk to him about Kaidan's candidacy to the Spectres: something to the likes of 'He doesn't have *your* issues'. It sounds like a jab about Shepard's trauma on Akuze and/or their connection to Cerberus, but, if you think about it, it could be that Shepard isn't easily controlled. After all, at Udina's insistence, Shepard was meant to stay in the Citadel after the events at Virmire and what do they do instead? Grab the Normandy and go to Ilos to save the day. Then Shepard returns from the dead and yet *doesn't* return to the Alliance, because human colonies are in danger - colonies that the Alliance didn't actively assist. Kaidan, on the other hand, is far more loyal which means he doesn't question his orders as much - and, consequently, he's easier to manipulate.
