Frostbite isn't as easy to mod. I could be wrong, but I don't think the level of interest in non-squadmates will ever match the one for an actual romanceable squadmate. I believe there were a considerable number of fans asking for Kaidan to be a romance option in ME3. I don't really think anyone is begging for Liam, though I guess some outcry got people Jaal.

The other thing with Kaidan is that the voiced dialogue already existed and BioWare opted not to use it. Again, with Liam, I doubt they did this sort of thing again and also don't believe many people are looking for him as a romance option. There was something about Kaidan, the way he walked and talked, sensitive but strong, that made a lot of gay men want him as a romance option. I'm not seeing it in MEA.

Also, as I said, Frostbite isn't as easily moddable, no one has made mods for it in this regard and gender swap doesn't exist any console commands.

Hmmm...I don't make mods myself. I just use them. I'm still super grateful that all 3 parts of the original trilogy have mods to enable/enhance the Kaidan romance for male Shepard. It's now on par with Female Shepard's experience. I wish those changes could be made to the ps3 version of the game since I'd rather play there! Since it's not an option though I uninstalled my console versions and will stick to pc. Now if I could just get dynamic shadows to work on 3 without my game frame rate dropping like a stone.

Pretty sure at least some of this is available. I've seen mods on Nexus Mods that take off Peebee's mask. Maybe there's something about Cora's makeup too.

Yes. Funnily most people think recruit and loyalty missions is worth to make ME2 amazing. I wouldn't mind much if there's Friendship/Rivalry system that actually make it interesting and I never quite forgive how ME2 neglect Shepard's personal arc.

I hate how they never thought to add a scene with Kaidan/Ashley in Citadel. It made sense because they're working for Anderson and testify for Shepard to prove Collectors' involvement.

I agree for both of those reasons. It introduced a ton of characters, but the main plot felt like filler. And I hated working with Cerberus.

Yes, I wish Shepard could have taken Kaidan aside on Horizon for a private chat. He could have told Kaidan that he was using Cerberus for their resources to fight the Collectors and that, in fact, he has Alliance people with him (Joker and Chakwas) as well as haters of Cerberus (Jack, for example). Once the threat was eliminated he would turn on Cerberus and return to the Alliance. On top of that, he had the approval to work with Cerberus from the Council so long as he stayed in the Terminus Systems. Plus, he could show him a shot of his desk, which prominently features of picture of Kaidan. All of this combined would tell Kaidan that Shepard was not a traitor, nor had he turned his back on the Alliance or Kaidan.

Not really. FemShep is always the sexual aggressor in other pairings except for Kaidan. Professionally, she's the boss but privately, Kaidan is always the dominant in their relationship than the other way around. As in, he always made the first moves, he often decide what good for both of them and when he find something he strongly disagree with, he wouldn't budge until convinced otherwise. Shepard have to do very little to persuade him, which is what I like about their dynamic.

Kaidan has never been a wilted flower. Never was.

Damn it, I want to replay the games back.

Kaidan may be generous, compassionate, sensitive, and kind, but he's no pushover. I always get confused when people assume he's submissive just because he doesn't have an aggressive personality. My headcanon is Kaidan and John have more or less equal power and don't have defined roles. They both can take charge when the mood strikes them.

Agreed. This is one of those times where ambiguity serves the player. I don't need the game to define bedroom dynamics for me, and I don't need a dialogue option to make me feel secure about my headcanon's validity. There are other times in the game when they make things ambiguous in a less satisfying way, but in this case it was tastefully done.

For comparison, Dragon Age: Inquisition went a little out of its way to tell us that Dorian was a bottom and Iron Bull was a top, which I personally don't think was necessary.

Arrival would have been the perfect opportunity to add Kaidan/Ashley and rekindle the romance. Liara got her scene in Shadowbroker

This^. Its an Alliance quest. If Shepard didn't go, another specs ops team will take place only that they died. Kaidan or Ashley should have been the one rescuing Shepard. I don't think Joker would just stay out for days without any update. And the conclusion is still enough to make things weird for either of them; the destruction of a Batarian system shouldn't be lead to Alliance without sparking a war and Shepard as a Spectre with ties to Cerberus should take the full responsibility of it. Either of those would work to maintain tension.

The thing about making Arrival Kaidan/Ashley's version of Lair of the Shadowbroker is that it would have worked well knowing what we do in hindsight, but back when it was actually made they were setting up a different plotline for them. They apparently hadn't realized yet how stupid everyone involved had to be for the plot to work.

Woah, very disturbing thought, Kaidan with Banshees? *shudders* I HATE Banshees! Does synthesis create true peace between all species? Maybe...

My Diana Shepard also missed Kaidan in ME2 and often sat at her desk, looking wistfully at his picture.
She had hope though that one day they would rekindle their romance, so she didn't date anyone. I think his absence in 2 made the romance in 3 even sweeter and much better.

The old adage, Absence makes the heart grow fonder still holds true!
