Anyone try a pistols only load out in either single or multi-player? I was thinking about this and came up with this untested build that might work:
Vanguard style play, with concussive shot, lift, charge profiles: soldier, vanguard, or sentinal armor customized - pathfinder "Deadeye" helmet (already built this, with 2 mod slots filled with the movement accuracy increase mods[cant remember the name]) -n7 chest piece: biotic power and reduced cool down; -angaran arms: accuracy mods; -kett legs: melee boost and incinerate option on aerial melee attack maxed Pistol passive maxed Combat Fitness and the weapons: Asari Sword Carnifex - buffed for max damage (or Ushior) Scorpion - scoped (because Explosions!) Charger - because of high rate of fire ?? - the Talon shotty pistol, or the remnant Equalizer with electrical conduit
What do you think?

I ran a mostly sentinel build with the hornet and carni in the game. Carni was scoped with a VHS.

Yeah, I love the Carnifex, scoped it once and used it as a "sniper" for a while myself. Once I discovered the accuracy improvement mods when moving, and with jump jets, I dumped the scope and even quit using aim - just run and gun. lol

Get rid of the charger and use the hurricane. Same thing, but better.
Also I'd consider using the hornet as your 'all-purpose' gun.

ProbeAway Interesting idea. My concern after more thought is "architect! - oh s***" Now how would this work out against that beast.

The hornet is surprisingly accurate and is still useful against architects. However the ushior, the sidewinder or the carnifex would be a handy backup for boss enemies if you wanted a bit more punch. You can mod the ushior to have two shots per clip.

I might try something similar on my next play through. I've been wanting to build a character around alien weaponry- namely the angaran pistol/sniper and salarian pistol/shotgun. Not exactly sure how to go about it though.
Problem is I love playing from cover, and blind firing from cover, and that tends to work better with automatic weapons

They are essentially submachine guns and fit your preferences.

Had Carniflex as the main weapon for my bio-tech\sentinel Ryder (single, normal). Not as good as ME3 Paladin, but still good enough and better than most pistols. Yet to see it on my MP (fuck the RNG! ).

I ran a build that used the Eagle, Ushior and Hornet for a while that worked really, really well except for the ammo management part. I eventually crafted an Eagle with a vintage heat sink mod to get past that bottleneck.

Though to be honest I didn't actually shoot all that much with my build. Mostly just the occasional snipe or shot to finish them off.

For me, nothing says Mass Effect quite like the Carnifex, my quintessential weapon of choice. Right from the moment Dr Spec-Op's uses it to gun down those idiots threatening his clinic on Omega in ME:2, it was my go-to weapon and pretty much remained until I got myself a Graal Spike Thrower in ME:3. In ME:A put a scope on that thing, it IS.. not is like, it IS a sniper rifle. Super long range, accurate, high powered, and it looks bad-ass, what's not to like?

Isnt it a one shot standard?

I dunno about 4, but if you max the soldier profile then you can get the following clip size bonuses: 20% - pistols passive 20% - combat fitness passive 35% - soldier profile rank 6 96% (don't quote me on that) - magazine mod 100% - turbocharge rank 6b evolution That would get you a 271%/171% bonus with/without turbocharge. Depending on how the mechanics work, it might round up to four/three shots total. If you don't use the soldier passive or turbocharge then two shots is probably your max.

Seems like it was a buff for MP, I guess it carried over into SP?

Great Info gang. I have decided I will test out the build, substituting Hurricane for Charger, keeping the buffed Carnifex for slot 4 as a sniper, then do some testing with Ushior and the Remnant shotgun (name?) buffed with 25% shield restore when magazine empties - I saw this on UTube a while ago although it is not a pistol; the shield restore mod might work the same way on the Ushior too. May use the hornet or the N7 Eagle in slot one. Probably will go with a sentinal profile due to tech shield.
boy do I love options! And we haven't even mentioned powers yet.

Even more with the Soldier profile. So I bring one (with a scope) and a Hurricane for big targets. Carnifex is excellent in the middle and satisfying to use. But really on normal difficulty, you can lol through without any weapons at all.

Weird but using a talon with enough to get a 4 shot talon on a vintage heat sink is fun. It's also saved me a few times when ammo ran out. I've really started to like that vhs. I put it on bw and x5 ghost to amazing results. The never ending talon though by itself is especially evil with a pure infiltrator. Give it a shot if you haven't yet.

Since I've been rolling biotic god in every game and like pistols most anyway, I rarely use anything but a single pistol...
In ME3MP I used to go with the Talon on the N7 Fury, and I did the same in MEA for a while. It's nice enough. But the Disciple is better for my vanguard (on the adept profile). But really, with the charge/annihilation/lance build the weapon does not really matter. I can play completely without firing shots using melee to finish off enemies should I be out of shields and unable to use lance.
I haven't tried out many guns though, I admit. Enemies die so fast now at level 40 on Hardcore on patch 1.05 still (1-4 seconds except for fiends and the orb asshole), I put zero thought into which pistol to use. Picked Talon and Disciple out of nostalgia.
Tried the Ushior, but it fires so slowly it's useless for my playstyle. It's like a sniper rifle as a pistol. Don't really see the point of it.
