My wife and I were having a discussion about the state of the Quarian Ark. In the epilogue when listening to the Quarian Ark distress signal they are asking all others to stay away. We were discussing why they would do that. I've heard some theories that some geth stowed away, but that seems unlikely to me. What we thought is possible is that the Quarians attempted something similar to what the Krogan did to combat the genophage during stasis, except it went wrong.
The Quarians were attempting to improve their immune systems through the 600 years in cryo in hopes that they may be able to arrive in Andromeda without the necessity of suits. But rather than improve, it worsened. As such they would be in dire straights due to all of their people getting sick. Even if their experiment didn't work, any Andromeda disease would be entirely new to their immune systems and be very dangerous to every single Quarian.
This brings us to why they would be asking people to stay away. If their immune systems worsened, any contact with any other species could be hugely detrimental. Even if their immune systems stayed the same they would be effected by anything in the systems of the visiting pathfinder.
Not a perfect theory I know but still I think it would be an interesting twist for DLC.
Thoughts?

Plausible, it would make sense as to why they would want us to stay away until it solved, if ever. Quarian diseases isn't something thats really brought up or how it could be detrimental to their society if a foreign plague/virus ever got on to the Migrant fleet-which I imagine would be deadly given not having a cure. However, its a video game there has to be some sort of "physical" threat that you know has guns. They would have to explain it in a novel/comic in order for that theory to work and thus wouldn't be a dlc.

the problem of Quarians is that they almost lost all their immune system, not a disease like the genophage. The best way to rebuild their immune system is by exposing slowly to normal environment. By going on a planet similar to Rannoch, and with the vault system, it could be really easy to modulate a planet that could be adequate for the Quarians to start not wearing their suits. For me it seems wierd that some Quarians would experiment during a 600years trip where they should be sleeping in cryo in a ship with other races instead. Yeah, Quarians seems to do some really bad choices from time to times in the first trilogy, but this still seems a bit wierd.
I still believe that they got attacked in Andromeda/got trapped in the scourge or that the message was sent when they were still in the Milky way.
