The autosave system in MEA is beyond fucked up. I stormed the kett base on Eos, got killed. Then reloaded the autosave, and the freaking thing managed to make a save a split second before I died. I reloaded again, unaware of the greatest invention in both galaxies: saving the game in another autosave slot when loading autosave. Of course, all four slots very soon got overwritten with that "dying save". But wait, there's more! I desperately tried to find some way to still save myself, such as pushing the dodge button as soon as the save loads. The save did load. I wound up at the spot when you first land on Eos, with a level one Ryder with no inventory, but otherwise the game treated everything as normal - the same quest ("Destroy kett base") as active, Prodromos already established, etc. Working as intended at its damn finest.

Bugged as hell. Even your Avatar doesn't load anymore.
And yea, I have no idea why people keep making games without proper manual save capabilities.

Perhaps loading one of your other Eos manual saves might be a good idea?

I still treat manual saves like classic save points and won't save when actually going things until an hour or so has passed.
I'm reckless.

Well, I do make manual saves, but not every five minutes. Lost around 1.5 hours of gameplay.

you think thats bad? auto saves delete after you finish a chapter. I was on Eos and realized i mucked up something. nothing major mind but it was annoying. I wanted to reload a save from on the nexus. after i nabbed my strike team rewards but before i got to the tempest. they were all gone. i was annoyed. granted i could have reloaded the beginning of the nexus, but that would have ment loosing all the MP/strike team rewards i picked up which was a nice starting edge. so now i get to waste time and try and fix my muck up... fun fun.

Unfortunately that is a bug and not by design, a friend of mine had that happen to them as well once. I personally have never had my auto-saves deleted, just cycled over.

Never ever ever ever trust auto save in any game. Cloud saves either. This policy has saved me a lot of tears.

Yes, I've been caught many times by inappropriate auto-saves. The Kett base on Eos is one of those major annoyances. I can not figure out why the game designers decided the game should auto-save whenever you resume or load a game. Partway into the loading cycle, you'll see the save icon. And that auto-save frequently overwrites the auto-save you really needed and wanted instead of lost time. Add in all those areas you can't manually save along with the decision to eliminate the Quick Save, you have a system that's not user friendly or even logical since it only detracts from the game without adding anything but more annoyances.

When the last 2 patches were released, I lost a whole bunch of manual saves and I had to rely only on auto-saves to restart my game. It wasn't the end of the world but I still had to redo an entire mission. I had been wondering what caused this loss of manual saves but maybe it's related to those Cloud saves somehow.... interesting...

CTD caused cloud or local data to corrupt (dunno which) which prevented cloud sync. Bye bye my saves!

If the auto-save is saving during and/or before a dialogue option it suspends the game for a few seconds that can make you think the game has frozen/locked up and/or is about to crash when is NOT frozen/locked up and/or going to crash, and that has happened to me a few times. The only reason that I can think of as to why BioWare would put such a fucked up save system was to try to appease the idiotic so-called hardcore gamer-trolls who want every game to be a not to be user friendly experience to keep out the newbies and causal players.

Huh... I had never thought Cloud saves could be a problem. If you're only using one machine they're beyond useless. The only take time to upload and download, depending on how busy the server is. I always save manually and locally when there's even an option. In some missions you have to rely on autosave since they don't allow for manual saves. I'm not sure about the Kett base, but I had peculiar things happening there too. Such as all the enemies, including turrets having respawned when reloading.
