Well I hope it pays off for them, moving into the saturated MP Shooter micro-transaction market. If it doesn't they are likely joining Westwood. Its going to be a long wait but at least I still have Cyberpunk to look forward to. I'm just hoping Bethesda and CDPR deliver with Starfield and Cyberpunk now lol. They all I got now. I am sure other game companies will pick up the RPG mantle now that Bioware seems to be no longer interested in making RPG's.

The issue is Bioware is a studio who are famous for making some of the most beloved single player rpgs ever, and now every game they make has MP with micro transactions because of EA. They turned the KOTOR series into an MMO rather than making KOTOR3 and they gave their flagship series to a support studio (we all know how that turned out) so their main studio could make this MP focused game instead that is very obviously trying to cash in on the destiny market. So as pretty as the game is I am a little worried that this is just another step away from what made me a fan of their games in the first place. It's quite transparent. RPGs just don't make enough money to justify their long development times. This is a prime reason why MEA MP is a big deal. That's where the money will come from. BioWare needs to justify its development costs and as a result is being directed to make some popular multiplayer games with longevity. In short, if you want good SP games, you'll have to put up with MP. Skyrim and Witcher3?

So as pretty as the game is I am a little worried that this is just another step away from what made me a fan of their games in the first place. I'm not worried at all. I am not in love with Bioware so that I would miss them if they go down the road of many other studios driven into the abyss by EA. Some other, hopefully independent studio, will pick off where they left off. I'm not a lover but a customer and if the product isn't to my liking, I buy at the next corner.

To me this wasn't "just another step", more like the final one. Unless DA4 knocks it out of the park the way TW3 did they might as well just go ahead and rename themselves EA Edmonton.

Because I put over 1,200 hours into destiny and Anthem really hasn't shown any extensive gameplay yet for me to see the comparisons. the walled city, the armored groups of sci-fi fighters venturing out to do battle, none of that is reminiscent? how about the part with the flying mech suits?

Sounds like 50 other games and movies to me. If you want to go by looks sure, but I'm more interested in its gameplay to be what may hopefully be new and different. then you throw in the focus on MP Which isn't going to be an issue for myself, I can play single player or multiplayer focused games. The good thing is mass effect and dragon age still exist for those who choose not to partake in Anthem (but even I will admit those franchises may be getting the shaft if the experienced team is doing Anthem instead of the already establishedfranchises).

Do u play Destiny? Not trying to sound confrontational but to all who say things like "this looks exactly like Destiny" have you ever played it? Yes I did notice similar patterns . Fallen world, people living inside a protected City, the freelancers help protect the civillians like Guardians protect people but visually this looked nothing like Destiny. Destiny has a different style, not quite photorealistic. The Javelins(suits) in Anthem are just suits. The robot race in Destiny (Exo) have to actually wear armor and clothing like everyone else. They arent bigger than humans. Lore and size are irrelevant. The head of those Mechs look just like the robot race. The art style is just the same damn thing. Honestly tell me if they showed that same trailer and said it was a DLC for Destiny or something it would not fit 100%. Honestly, no.Because, I know what Destiny looks like and feels like. Maybe it would have fit if I had no idea what Destiny was other than being a sci-fi game. The art style, graphics and palettes are different.Guardians don't have mech exo suits to fly around in. Only one class actually wears armor. Also the suoerhuman abilities of the Guardians are more of a space magic thing. It 's more sci fantasy than scifi. It has epic themes .I mean, Guardians are essentially revived dead peoole who keep getting revived by their companion robot eachbtime they fall in battle.it s the definition of space magic hahaha Anthem looks more realistic and gritty.

In short, if you want good SP games, you'll have to put up with MP. Witcher 3 was successful no MP, also the same could be said of pretty much everything Bethesda does. All of Bioware's previous games have made money too. They just don't make as much as some always online game with micro transactions. Bioware used to make the games they wanted to make but thanks to EA there is a much bigger focus on maximising profits. That's the problem with being owned by a big company like EA. I still have CDPR and Obsidian I guess even if I lose Bioware, but neither of them are quite what Bioware used to be, sadly.

Isn't Cyberpunk rumored to have multiplayer aswell? Also Bethesda is making a fremium game, or so the rumor says.
The industry is changing boys and girls, not sure if its for the better, yet.

You guys know that there will be single player, right? Destiny has Single Player, look how well that turned out. and what does that have to do with this. Destiny wad a game made by a mp team were they messed up the spring story and had to do everything over from the start were you had to play the same map over and over agein. This is not the same thing.

You guys know that there will be single player, right? So? What's it gonna be? Single player with tackked on multiplayer or multiplayer with tacked on single player? As I said, thank you very much, but no thank you. Keep your microtransactions and swearing online kids to yourself. There are greener pastures to look for appealing games. Such as Obsidian and Larian amongst others. If you manager to come up with a convincing redition of DA4, you got my attention again. But until then, don't expect me to open my wallet.

In short, if you want good SP games, you'll have to put up with MP. I hear what you are saying, but RPG also make a lot of money. For example, Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher games. And Mass effect has made a lot as well, more to justifying their development cycle. But adding MP is nothing more that milking their fan base with cheap repetitive game mode that is designed for a long grind for weapons/armor/items with the hope that people will get frustrated with that and spend real money to unlocking them. Point and case, I have 400+ in in ME3 MP and i still don't even have most of the ultra rare weapons.

Yeah, its not like "any" inclusion of MP is bad. I'm just simply not interested in a MP focused game with a tacked on 6 hour SP "story mode".
