Thanks folks, you are the best. I've played SWTOR for a couple years already, don't like the current story there. I am just gonna run Mass Effect for a bit and check DA:O out maybe later.

If it's not broke, you don't have to fix it, though I will say that I did come to love Dragon Age intensely despite being really frustrated at the beginning. It took a long time to get past the tedious grinding since the combat just wasn't as fun as Mass Effect, but the role playing soon made up for it.

I'm like the opposite of many here. I liked Dragon Age almost instantly. It still maintained the basic feel of Kotor and other games. I only hate it now because of DAI. Pretty much worthless setting to invest in to me. I'm even less interested in the sequel than MEA.

I tried all of the origins but only finished as a female city elf. Local girl makes good!
I'd say give DA:O a chance until Redcliffe at least. You will likely get pathologically attached to the companions (esp if you romance Alistair). DAO was the game that gave me the most feels until ME3 came out. I didn't particularly like DA2 and DAI was fine, but I didn't feel the need to play it again.
Maybe hold off buying the ME DLC until after finishing ME3? I think you'll have a clearer idea then whether you want to jump back in to ME or give it a rest for a while.

If you are still enthusiastic about playing ME, just keep playing.
I did not get into DA right away either, if I remember right. I think I shelved it for a while, but went back to it when I was bored of playing everything else. While the combat is certainly dated, you can still have some fun with the gameplay, and you have a lot of freedom to create your own character in Origins. In subsequent installments, the gameplay gets a lot more user-friendly.
