Hey, I like a good shared world shooter (massive Destiny fan here), but to be honest, Anthem looks pretty generic and the premise didn't exactly sell me on it story/setting/vibe wise. Hey, I could be way off and it's amazing, but shit fam....look at how damn pretty everything is in it, it's clear EA threw Mass Effect to the dogs (Montreal) here, and put nigh on all their dev focus on Anthem with the BioWare A-Team (what the fuck did Mass Effect do to deserve such mediocrity I ask?).

I'm salty because a Mass Effect Online shared shooter would have been amazing as fuck, now we have a shelved IP.

I'm salty because I keep picturing Shepard on the altar ready to be sacrificed to the $$$ 'games as a service' gods and it makes me cry.

It's easier to make MP game focused on combat than SP action-rpg with interesting story.
Just remember that best writers left BW long time ago.

I think it's more plausible that after more than 10 years of Mass Effect the Edmonton team was really ready to work on something else. I know I would be glad to get a fresh start after so much time.

Would I have rather liked to see more ME, sure, but I do get why they needed a change of scenery.

Anyway, the "sacrifice" of anything here is pure conjecture. The decline of Mass Effect has plenty of threads about it already, and Anthem has its own section. So (hopefully for real this time), locking...

Don't get me wrong. I wasn't too thrilled about the teaser, but the gameplay looks pretty promising and I'm looking forward to picking it up in the future.

With that said, it also made me incredibly sad.

Anthem looks exactly like what ME:A should have been, had it's development not been so difficult, messy and disorganized. After reading Jason Schreier's article and about how resources were being taken from BW Montreal for Anthem, it all makes sense. They prioritized this game over ME:A, because they knew it was Mass Effect and it was going to make money, and then it wouldn't matter what happened to it. EA already got their money, so why would they care? Making a multiplayer game with tons of (no doubt) microtransactions will make them more cash than a singleplayer story-driven RPG, so why wouldn't they invest more resources and talent into it?

Just... really sad. I feel bad for Andromeda devs now.
